  1. Depends on what you mean by Helix patches. The products differ depending on whether they have one or two DSP processors. Helix Floor, Rack, and LT are dual processor and dual path products meaning they can support more complex, flexible, and powerful presets. HX Stomp/XL is a single processor product. HX FX has no amp/cab modeling. HX One supports only one FX at a time. Presets from the dual processor products may or may not be compatible with the HX Stomp/XL depending on their architecture, and are certainly not compatible with the HX FX or the HX One. The POD Go is another option. It uses Helix technology and has many of the same amp, cab and FX models. While the presets are not directly compatible you can easily recreate many Helix/HX Stomp presets manually.
  2. Custom tone is a user driven tone repository. In other words there’s no one responsible for populating the site, and no ‘plan’ for doing so. It’s up to users to upload their tones for others to download. You can be the first to do so!
  3. A new update utility called Line 6 Central was released some time ago. It replaces Monkey for some but not all older products. For now anyone experiencing these difficulties should download, install, and try Line 6 Central. It may work. If it doesn't I suggestyou open a support ticket. Currently there will be a delay in receiving a response from Line 6 due to the California wildfires which have resulted in closure of the Line 6 offices.
  4. This appears to be something related to your installation. I suggest you uninstall and then reinstall all POD Go related software on your computer.
  5. A firmware update intentionally does not overwrite any existing presets. Just a precaution to avoid the possibility of lost data. The instructions recommend that the user perform a pre-update backup of anything they wish to retain, then a post-update reset and restore.
  6. Thanks for clarifying. I’m afraid I don’t see the point in what you’re considering. What’s the actual benefit? Simply record your dry tone and apply Helix Native as desired. You retain the flexibility to adjust your delays, reverbs, etc. as well as adjusting the distortion. Why not retain that flexibility rather than discard it by baking those FX into the recorded tone? You might even find it sounds better to reposition the time-based FX like delay, chorus, and reverb to post-amp in the Helix Native preset. Your suggestion requires them to be in the pre-amp position.
  7. Are you sure the Vol and Wah FX blocks Position parameter is properly assigned to the EXP1 and EXP2 pedal controllers? That’s the default but if those controller assignments have been changed it explains your symptoms.
  8. Rather than thinking of using Native to potentially address unwanted distortion, I suggest it might be better to address the distortion itself. Your comments suggest that your recorded sound is different from what you are hearing without recording. That shouldn’t be.the case and is worth more investigation. I suspect there’s a gain staging issue in your preset. How are you monitoring your recording vs. just playing? Different speakers? Are you using Helix as the audio interface? Give us more information about your setup and perhaps attach a preset that you use when this is happening.
  9. Personally I use a physical capo for tuning up any number of frets. I would use Poly capo for downtuning to Eb for instance. I imagine that any type of digital pitch modulation introduces at least some artifacts so the natural acoustics vibration of the physical strings is preferred when possible. I only use pitch shifting for harmonies, 12-string simulation, or special effects like the sliding that Poly Pitch offers. But my use is minimal because I also have a Variax and handle most such things with a combination of physical capo and alternate tunings.

    4 cable

Please provide more details about your cabling and Helix preset routing. 4CM users can easily think they have the cabling correct when in fact they don’t. Also the Helix preset has to be properly configured for 4CM. Ideally attach a copy of a preset that doesn’t sound good when you toggle the amp off.
  11. Is your power amp output going through a guitar cab/speaker of some sort? If so your POD Express preset should not contain a cab model because using two cabs in serial does not generally sound good. See manual pg20 for details on how to turn the cab model Off in a preset.
  12. Thanks for the background info. Amazing sometimes how difficult it can be to make something free!
  13. btw... I find the download procedure to be a bit cumbersome. I have to go into the confirmation email I received when I purchsed the original version, copy the activation code, and paste it into a browser window. Then I can see and activate the Download button. I just did it successfully for 1.5
  14. It just appeared in my browser now. A search showed v1.4 but clicking on it shows v1.5.
  15. I don’t own or know much about the HX One so can’t really help with this particular issue. However, in addition to any response you get here I suggest you also open a support to report this. Any reproducible and unexpected behaviour is a potential bug and will only come to the attention of Line 6 for a fix if reported through the ticket system.
  16. You can do it using Helix Native hardware compatibility mode. There are limitations though due to DSP processors and routing differences between the two devices.
  17. Yes, that's another alternative to getting the backing track into a DAW, but it's not using only the Helix audio interface USB connection and requires additional setup and cabling. I'm sure there are other alternatives too, perhaps using another audio interface. Also, for recording separate tracks simultaneously (tutorial and guitar) the Output blocks should be set to different USB channels and the Record Input Source in the DAW selecting the different channels. I'm interested in hearing the results of your further experimenting. Please let us know.
  18. Surely you can be more specific. Your question asks for a yes/no answer. For me it’s no, but that doesn’t help you much. Nor would it if I answered Yes. What do you want to know? First of all, are they factory presets? If not, what/where are they? Nobody is able to help you based on your question.
  19. Categorically speaking - no you can’t do that. The audio stream coming in to Helix from your computer is not processed by Helix; it is sent directly to your audio outputs after undergoing D/A conversion. The input stream is not assigned to any Helix USB channel and hence it is not selectable as a Record Input for a DAW track when using Helix as the audio interface. Helix in this regard is a streaming device - a pair of speaker inputs - not an audio processing/capture/storage device. This is typically done to protect copyrighted material and avoid piracy. For the same reason you can’t record a song from Spotify or whatever. (At least I don’t think you can. Not much IP protection if you can.) Many of us may remember the early wild west days when music and film piracy abounded on websites like Napster. They essentially captured an audio or video stream, recorded it, stored it on a server, and made it available to the world for free. However, if the mp3 file is not protected and is available as a separate file you could import it first into your DAW then play it back while recording your guitar.
  20. First thought is to check the setting for the Output block in the preset.
  21. It’s listed under the Legacy tab on the far right. I tried to post a link but not working for some reason.
  22. Connect your Helix to your Mac via usb. Check the Audio configuration of your Mac to make sure that it’s using the Helix as its audio device; this should happen automatically but check to make sure. At this point you should hear both your guitar and the tutorial through your wired headphones. Use the Mac and/or Helix volume controls to balance the levels. Voila. There is no wireless headphone capability in Helix. You will need to use a wireless adapter for that. Once you get this working you can proceed to starting to learn how to use Helix itself. To start, check the Video tutorials available underneath the Support link at the top of this page. Start with the most basic, of course. Reading the manual is also a good idea.
  23. In the Settings View make sure the MIDI PC Rx parameter is set to “On”
  24. The new amps don't appear in HX Edit 3.70. You need to update both HX Edit and firmware to 3.80. Mojave has been unsupported by Apple for more than 3 years. You can expect to have an increasing number of products (not just Line 6) no longer supporting it. To remain able to use the latest releases of just about anything, you should upgrade your Mac OS.
