  1. Have you tried connecting your Eband to the Helix main outputs rather than the Sends? Then by setting your preset Output block to Multi you should receive the signal on both your Eband via the main outs and also in your DAW via USB 1/2. You don't have to arm any tracks to actually do any recording in your DAW until/unless you want to.
  2. Yeah - it is surprising how loud that string vibration sounds to our ears. But it does make sense that the player hears it and the audience doesn't. The player's ears are much closer to the string than the audience is, and even closer to the string than to the speaker/monitor.
  3. Most of the time this is caused by your ears hearing both the alternate tuning through your monitors and also directly hearing the natural (unaltered) tuning of the string. To rule this out, make a recording of the sound. The natural sound of the string will not be recorded; you should hear only the alternate tuning. If you hear both notes in the recording there is a problem. Otherwise this is normal behaviour; to drown out the sound of the natural vibration you need to have the speaker volume loud or use closed back headphones.
  4. Wow, you step out for a couple of hours to buy your hearing aids and walker and look what happens - another meaningless discussion. ;-)
  5. I've been playing guitar for 55 years. At what point did I stop being a guitarist? I'm not a professional but yes, I consider myself a guitarist. I might even be able to teach you a thing or two, sonny boy. No offense, though. :-)
  6. Nice to see that ageism exists everywhere. If you're lucky you'll be old enough to be its target someday. But you're right - don't ask me for advice about playing metal, especially at gunpoint.
  7. I didn't say your point is meaningless. I said the info about the update is pretty meaningless since it lacks info about the timing and content of the update. You asked why the info was provided elsewhere rather than here and I offered a potential reason - perhaps DI didn't consider it very significant or important. We all know an update is coming sometime. I understand and don't disagree with your point. I just don't think it's worth being so annoyed about. But as you say, that's how you feel and you're certainly entitled to your feelings - there's no right or wrong about that.. Happy New Year!
  8. You don't seem very committed. What's wrong with skiing with a backpack containing your Helix and a laptop and updating using the wireless connection in the lodge at the mountaintop? You can leave your guitar at home or in the rental chalet and enjoy the update that very evening! :-)
  9. Oui... a la prochaine. But hockey and politics are the same thing in Montreal, n'est ce pas? ;-)
  10. Possibly because the update info it's pretty meaningless. We already knew that another Helix update is coming sometime. Whether the version number is 2.8 or something else doesn't matter. The timing and content of the update is still unspecified so all this speculation, while some may find it fun and interesting, is also meaningless. Here's another piece of update info that you can take to the bank, and I am announcing it here for the first time...... soon after the v2.8 release there will be a v2.8x hot bug fix release!!! I bet it will contain something almost everybody wants! .... and I know you'r still annoyed but if that's how you choose to feel, well fill your boots!
  11. Vlakanas, since provincial rivalries seem to matter to you.... don't forget... Plains of Abraham. Lots of good stuff in the manual.
  12. .... or, you could read the manual......and not need hand-holding.
  13. Assign the FX block to a footswitch. Make sure the display is set to a mode where the footswitch labels are visible (see the manual for details).
  14. That sounds like a bug. It's not something I recall being discussed as a desired feature modification. I suggest you open a support ticket to report this officially.
  15. Please describe your update procedure. Exactly what steps are you taking?
  16. No, there is no way to have the trail carry through the preset change. However there may be a way, as you suggest, to accomplish what you want within a single preset. I haven't used the Pod HD in so long that I no longer remember how to do it most easily, but I'm sure others here can help with that.
  17. Not so sure about that. The Helix FX device has no amp modeling and is, I think, a good candidate to compare with non-L6 MFX units. The Line 6 M9 and M13 are still good candidates too, I think.
  18. Please be a bit more specific. Is the time-based parameter you are controlling by Tap Tempo set to a note value or a ms value? Describe 'the noise' that you hear. Also indicate exactly which knob you are referring to and what parameter it is controlling while you use it.
  19. Right - no vocoder in Helix. I guess the closest thing is the voice box but it's not a vocoder. My memories of using it were with the Pod HD platform.
  20. I understand from an earlier post that they might cost a bit less in the Marketplace so that might be a reason to buy there, but I agree that it would be really nice to be able to, for instance, move the Mic from cone to edge in a Marketplace product. For me that would be enough to offset the downside (from the customer perspective) of the DRM.
