    di box

No need for DI box or adapter. Connect the Helix XLR output(s) directly to your board. For best results set the Helix XLR outputs to Mic level (see Global Settings).
  2. Sounds like a hardware issue to me. I suggest you open a support ticket to work directly with Line 6 tech support.
  3. We don't actually delete threads. But threads can be locked or hidden, meaning no one is able to add any new posts. We still consider that to be a rather drastic measure and rarely do it. However this thread comes close to qualifying. I suggest we all just behave as if this thread is now locked and simply stop posting here. Please - no 'final thoughts' or 'last words'. Let's say we're all done here.
  4. Oh My Goodness!! Everything else suddenly stopped working. You should contact Line 6 Support immediately! :-)
  5. That's perfectly normal. Every similar device (not just Line 6 devices) requires a few milliseconds for the CPU to swap in the data for a new preset. During that brief time there is silence.
  6. World sanity? Fascism? Are we in the United Nations assembly here? I thought we were talking about guitars.
  7. I see. So the only opinions you want to hear in a thread you initiate are those that agree with you? Differing opinions are not 'welcome' by you? You posted what you know to be a provocative topic (as indicated by your closing p.s.) and then you don't want/expect to hear from those whom you've intentionally provoked?
  8. Try using different usb ports on your computer, and avoid using a usb hub.
  9. The situation with factory presets and Helix firmware updates can be confusing. Every firmware update potentially (not necessarily) includes new or modified factory presets. However, the firmware update process leaves all existing presets, including factory presets, unchanged. Hence, if the update goes smoothly you actually don't need to back anything up before updating - but it's a good precaution. So the normal update process leaves you without any new or modified factory presets that are present in the new firmware. If you want the new or modified factory presets you need to back up your non -factory setlists and IRs either before or after updating the firmware (they will be the same in either case). Then at some point after installing the update you need to perform a factory reset on the device, which installs the new factory presets and wipes out all non-factory presetfs and IRs. Then reload your saved custom setlists and IRs individually.
  10. THe HX Edit release description does not mention HX Stomp but it is supported as indicated during the installation process. Fixed As usual, start by backing up your current stuff using the current HX Edit. Then download and install the v2.70 HX Edit package. The run the new Line 6 Updater to update your Helix device.
  11. That's exactly my setup. Not unstable at all. It would easily survive a stumble. A charging linebacker could probably tip it as long as they hit high.
  12. No need for backup if it's new. After updating perform a factory reset to ensure that you have the latest factory presets.
  13. Probably because most XLR inputs on a mixer are expecting a microphone (mic level signal) as the input device.
  14. Also depends on whether you want to use the device editor on a mobile device (ios/Android - Firehawk) or a PC (Windows/Mac - HD500/x). Quite a few people buy Firehawk and then complain that there's no PC-based editor. If that's important to you don't buy Firehawk; on the other hand if you like the idea of a mobile app don't buy HD500. The POD is generally agreed to deliver better tones but there's definitely a longer learning curve to get there. Firehawk is easier to learn but more limited in its features. Both devices work fine for recording/DAW purposes.
  15. Yes it makes sense to open a support ticket even if the problem is already recognized. It will help Line 6 to define the scope of the issue and the priority of scheduling a fix for it.
  16. Over short distances, say 30', you can use either 1/4" or XLR. For longer distances XLR is better. No need for DI box in either case.
  17. Both the TRS and VDI connection come together in a single part that snaps into a cable connector inside the V700. I can't see much in the Line 6 online store (since I'm in Canada and the store only ships within the US) so I don't know if this part is available online since it's so old. But you can call Line 6 directly and get them to send it to you or tell you where to get it.
  18. You need to use the HX Edit program. You can get it in the Downloads section.
  19. It depends on the setting of the Output block. If set to MULTI it will affect both the XLR outputs and the USB level into your DAW. You could, however, set the output parameter to 1/4" in which case no signal at all - including the Gain block - will be heard over XLR or USB1/2. (see manual pg 25)
  20. Yes, the sound quality, feature set, and signal routing flexibility of Helix Native is (imo) far superior to Pod Farm. If price and hardware don't matter there is no reason to choose Pod Farm. Pod Farm is still sold because, of course, price and hardware compatibility do matter to many.
  21. Is your firmware up to date? I recall reports of similar sounding issues long ago. They were resolved, also long ago, with a firmware update.
  22. Why not leave your Behringer out of the setup and use Helix as the PC sound card? Connect your PC to Helix via USB - your PC should immediately start routing its audio output over USB to Helix but you may have to manually configure your PC's Sound settings to use Helix as its sound card. Connect your Helix main outputs to your monitors and use the Helix headphone jack. All audio from both Helix the presets and your PC will be heard through the monitors/headphones. Of course you'll need to have the Line 6 driver installed on your PC but you likely already have that if you've ever used HX Edit or Line 6 Updater.
  23. Try experimenting with Helix presets that do/don't use a mic/cab/IR block. Theoretically when you set the L3 speaker to Elictric Guitar mode you can do without a Helix mic/cab/IR block since the speaker setting simulates that. When the speaker is set to PA or Monitor mode you should use the Mic/cab/IR block in the Helix preset. But there are no rules...... experiment with the Helix preset (EQ, amp bias, cab Lo/Hi cut, mic selection, ...) until you get a good sound with the speaker in PA mode. That's the mode I would use if you're using a mixer and other sound sources are in play.
  24. I hear the Helix watch has a tuner on it, but the second hand jumps around too much......
  25. I believe the Restore feature allows you to specify which setlist(s) you want to restore, leaving the other setlists intact.
