You're right - the answer is no. You need to add a Return input to every preset that you want to use with your iPod, or use an external mixer.

After FW update, are IR's part of Bundle/ Setlist back up ?
silverhead replied to electricfactory's topic in Helix
My understanding is that any existing IRs are retained by using any of the above protocols that do not mention IRs. So that means #1,2 and 5 retain your existing IR list while replacing the other specified elements. I believe you can do the three-point list you describe by using any protocols except 3 and 4. -

silverhead replied to electricfactory's topic in Helix
What exactly do you mean by the 'factory bundle'? If you mean the presets and setlists that are loaded by Line 6 as the device leaves the factory, then yes protocol #2 restores the factory bundle. If you mean something els (like IRs or default Global settings), then no. -
I own a Firehawk FX and I too hope that there will be future enhancements. But there may not be, so as an owner I get to choose how to feel about that: satisfied with the current state, or disappointed with it. I choose to be satisfied because it still does what I got it for, exactly as advertised. This discussion is not about Firehawk. It's been around for as long as I've been around this forum and happens every time a new product is released. It will happen with Helix too when the next latest and greatest Line 6 product comes along. Users of older products seem to divide themselves into one of two camps, based on their personal expectations when they bought the product. Group 1 make their purchasing decisions based on what the product will do today. If the product works as advertised they are satisfied. Any future improvements or enhancements are considered a bonus and serve to increase their satisfaction. Hence there's no anxiety about what, when, or if future goodies are pending. Group 2 make their purchasing decisions based on Line 6's history of improving products over time. They expect the product to continue to be able to do more than it does today, and are disappointed if those improvements aren't 'big' enough or don't come 'fast enough' whatever that means. In what ways should the product be improved, and for how long? The answer to those questions is different for everybody in this group, but everyone seems clear that there's always more improvements to be made, and it should be enhanced indefinitely as long as users ask for it. These users seem to choose to live in a constant state of disappointment. In their minds there are always features missing and whenever it stops being enhanced is too soon. There's nothing wrong with this viewpoint - it just seems to me to breed disappointment. This is merely the latest in an apparently unending series of threads like this that start up regularly in every product forum as newer products are released. The same old viewpoints are expressed again. The thread is usually started by someone in Group 2 saying that they are dissatisfied. They feel entitled to more updates as expressed in Ideascale - at least for another (unspecified) period of time - and have been abandoned until/unless that happens. Group 1 responds by saying they are satisfied and that updates are a bonus not an entitlement. And so it goes round and round. So all of us get to choose whether we want to be satisfied or disappointed. I am solidly in Group 1 - I find life easier when I'm satisfied with my purchasing decisions.

I go FRFR - the Line 6 Stagesource speakers.

My setup uses Helix USB as the audio interface and the XLR outputs are connected to my Stagescape mixer and Stagesource speakers. So while I don't record XLRs both my recording playback and live playing are routed through the mixer/speakers. I don't notice any difference between the direct output of Helix vs. the recorded playback. To me that means there is no noticeable difference in the sound of the XLR outputs and the USB signal for recording purposes. That may say as much about my poor ears as it does about signal quality, but for me USB recording quality and XLR direct output quality is indistinguishable.

I know you are using a POD HD500x but if you ever plan to buy a Helix you should keep in mind that Helix supports only the later Variax models - JTV and Standard. If you purchase an older model like the Variax 300/500/600 they are not supported in Helix.
-
I use a Variax with Firehawk FX with no problems. Works and sounds great. You can easily store/recall Variax model selections in a Firehawk preset. Just to note..... You can't edit your Variax models in iOS. Variax Workbench requires a PC/Mac.

Me too. Same thing on initial hookup until I looked more carefully at the back panel labeling.
-
Oh - so it's not availability that's the problem. It's cost. Are electronics in general more expensive, including shipping, in Israel? In any case, I don't think it has anything to do with Line 6 service as stated in your original post. They're not responsible for pricing and shipping in other countries. Costs more in Canada, too.

Same thing on my Helix Rack. It's noticeably stiffer than the others but it's still easy to operate. I don't consider it an issue.
-
My Helix Rack has separate volume control for the headphones. You're only going to be listening to one or the other (monitors or heaphones) at any time so why not just connect your headphones directly to Helix when you want to use them, and set/leave the volume control where you want it?

Does the Firehawk FX work as advertised, or are you having specific problems that we might be able to help you with? Did you get what you paid for at the time or are some of the advertised features not working? The Firehawk FX may or may not receive further firmware upgrades and feature enhancements. But it is certainly still supported and presumably still does the things you bought it for, unless you thought you were buying hypothetical and unadvertised capabilities.

Have you read post #2 above in this thread? You want FS Mode = FS5-8.

I'm so lost with my new FBV3 (Pod HD)
silverhead replied to PekkaM's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
Maybe this is what you're missing.... from the FBV3 Pilot's Guide page (2nd page after the safety instructions). This does mention FBV presets but they are different from the POD HD patches/presets. I am not familiar with the new FBV3 nor its control application so maybe others can help you with further questions. Line 6 FBV Control Application Installation If you plan on using your FBV 3 to control software on your Mac or Windows computer, then you’ll also want to install the latest Line 6 FBV Control application. This free software provides you with the ability to create, load, edit and store FBV presets - full sets of customized MIDI controller configurations - all in an easy-to-use application! The FBV Control App can be downloaded from line6.com/software -
I'm so lost with my new FBV3 (Pod HD)
silverhead replied to PekkaM's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
The POD HD Edit program should 'see' the POD HD device when it is connected via USB and when the Line 6 driver is installed (Monkey can help you with this if you haven't yet done it). You can use either the Edit program or the HD device itself to edit your patches, including assigning footswitches and control VOL and WAH functions, as documented in the POD HD and POD HD Edit manuals. The Edit program will not see or have any interaction with the FBV3. The FBV3 is just a controller for the POD HD. It is connected to the POD via an Ethernet-type RJ-45 cable that should have come with the FBV3.You should not have to do any programming or fiddling with the FBV3 - it's default settings should be fully compatible with the POD HD device. Once connected it will recognize and respond to the footswitch and pedal assignments that you have made in the associated patch on the POD HD. The FBV3 itself does not contain any patches. -
The AMPLIFi/Firehawk products and the POD HD/Helix products are designed for different users. The former use mobile devices and Bluetooth. The latter use PCs and USB. It's like the difference between a car and a truck. You don't buy a sporty convertible if you need to haul lumber. If you don't want to use your phone/mobile device, don't use Firehawk. Get a POD HD or Helix.

Newb First Impression an Q's - Using IRs, building patches etc...
silverhead replied to Garhel's topic in Helix
An IR is another option for a cab/mic combination. I would not use a cab with an IR in series just like I wouldn't use two cabs in series. Using them in parallel is fine, both after the amp generally. -
Is Pod Farm free with a purchase of a UX2?
silverhead replied to Rekoberlin's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
Have you run the Line 6 License Manager program with your UX2 connected? That should unlock the Standard Pod Farm models for you. -
You need to reinstall the firmware to restore the factory presets. There is no bundle available for download directly but I know some users make backups of the factory bundle after a firmware update. Perhaps one of those users will read this and post their bundle here for you.
