Can you use HD500 Customtone patches on the HD500X ?
silverhead replied to clarson3139's topic in POD HD
Yes. You can download HD500 tones and then simply drag/drop them into any available preset slot in HD500X Edit. Then SEND the ones you would like to keep to the HD500X device. -
UX2 and Condenser Mic Issues
silverhead replied to TayK47tv's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
You need to connect your speakers to the UX2 outputs. -
No it's not but, as was stated, the fact is that there is no way at this time to lock a patch. Making sure you always have a backup is the next best thing.
-
The best way to lock a patch is to export it to your computer.

They both sound good. In my opinion it is easier to get good tones using Firehawk but if you are prepared to do a lot of tweaking you can get better tones with the HD500X. The factory presets in Firehawk seem better as a starting point for tone creation, but HD500X has more features and routing flexibility. If you like getting really good tones by tweaking in a complex flexible system, and using a computer with a usb connection to edit, go with the HD500X. If you like plug-and-play simplicity for good tones, and using mobile device with a wireless connection to edit, go with Firehawk.

No, Firehawk does not support dual amps.
-
No - it's a full release now.

Are Wah and Vol FX both assigned to the same EXP pedal as their controller? Do you have to turn the Wah on using the Toe Switch, hence requiring the Vol to be increased to max before the Wah engages?

[DOUBT] Detune to simulate Eb when in E (half step down)
silverhead replied to lokimoto's topic in Helix
Not at all. You're putting words in my mouth. You said 'Let's wait for something from L6'. I pointed out that it's already here - the best new technology way to do exactly what you want (and more) is to use a Variax. But you want to keep your vintage guitars and use a pedal option for detuning. I understand this fully and in no way am I suggesting that you need to abandon technology. Helix simply does not support what you want very well. You have other options, like non-Line 6 devices (e.g. Digitech Drop) that are designed to handle polyphonic pitch shifting. If you find that none of these other options appeal to you then you're left with old school retuning while waiting hopefully for this feature to appear in Helix someday. That's not abandoning technology - that's doing your research, discovering that the available technology isn't what you want right now, and continuing to use old school methods until and unless you find something you like. -

Did I misunderstand your original post? Aren't you trying to achieve an Eb tuning without retuning from standard, meaning a new-school rather than old-school approach? -

Well, the old school method is to manually retune the guitar down to Eb. ;) -

It's called Variax. It can also probably replace your 4 guitars (that take up too much space, as you said) with one. -
Two days ago a good friend bought a new iPhone because her Samsung Android device would not work properly with her car's Bluetooth phone system. The iPhone works perfectly. Is that the car manufacturer's fault? Samsung's? Was she just unlucky? I don't know. All I know is that Bluetooth is a flaky system from device to device. Some pairings work perfectly, some intermittently, and some not at all - but they are all Bluetooth devices.

Sound quality is very subjective and I can't rate any comparison on a scale. But to me Helix sounds much, much better. I have both and my Firehawk has been on a shelf since I got Helix.
-
You're not missing anything. But for the extra $$ the mixer in an L2t is a really good value. You never know when it might come in handy.
-
The problem is Bluetooth. Amplifi and Firehawk work for most people. Check into you other interfering Bluetooth devices, and ask the Bluetooth manufacturers (whoever they are) to fix it.
-
OK - so they messed up by giving users exactly what they asked for..........???? ... and had they not done so, by now we would hearing loud screaming from the same requesters asking "Why has Line 6 not yet given us a Bluetooth-only device, compatible with my mobile iOS/Android device, and untethered?" As stated earlier, be careful what you ask for. Bluetooth is a very unreliable connectivity protocol. Its problems are not the fault of Line 6.

Need USB Interface
silverhead replied to musicimpossible's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Helix does not yet operate as an interface for Workbench HD. -
I'm not sure why exactly, nor sure about the negative effects. Just reporting that I know others have had issues with doing this. I recommend against it even though it's not (yet?) problematic for you.

Practically speaking there is no difference other than the extra speaker in the L3t. This provides some additional crossover frequency separation (not stereo L/R seperation) and a corresponding slight difference in the sound other than volume.
-
One thing to note about Helix XLR outputs: you need to make sure that the connecting device (e.g. Mixer) does NOT provide phantom power at its associated inputs.
-
I have tested a Variax 300 with Helix. Officially it is unsupported but communication actually works in one direction - from Helix to Variax. You can use the Helix controls to store/save/recall Variax models in the Helix preset and it behaves as desired. However, communication from Variax to Helix does not work. So for instance if you switch the model using your Variax controls the change will not be reflected in the Helix preset and the Helix Variax page display turns to gibberish.

Cable choice
silverhead replied to musicimpossible's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
The RJ-45 locking tab is not engaged by the neutric connector. It locks with a rectangular hole in the neutric sleeve. -
Need USB Interface
silverhead replied to musicimpossible's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Based on the pictures in the link I don't think this package will work. The cable connecting the guitar to the interface device seems to be a full VDI cable - it has the shielded housing on both ends. The housing will prevent th connection to the interface device, which has no room to accept the shielded connection. The proper cable has shielding at one end (for the guitar connection) but no shielding at the end that connects to the interface device. -
Try 'forgetting' the connection on your phone and then re-pairing.
