  1. I don't know for sure about the Spider Jam but I do know that the CD/MP3 input in the POD products can't be recorded over the POD's USB connection to the DAW. That's because the CD/MP3 analog input signal is passed directly to the device outputs. It is not converted within the POD to a digital format and hence is not available for the USB output.
  2. Just to clarify, lest any readers misinterpret this statement......... Old patches designed to work with footswitch controllers will continue to work with firmware v2.0 which introduced the snapshot feature. Of course if you want to use snapshots with the old presets you will have to redesign them. But the existing preset structure and amp/FX selections and settings are what produce the sound the purchasers are buying. Snapshots add flexibility but not sound improvement. Some users will not use the snapshot feature. They are comfortable, familiar, and perfectly happy with their existing presets and the footswitch controllers. The older presets you can purchase are very suitable as-is for them.
  3. Each output block has its own Level parameter. Have you tried using that to set the two outputs at different levels?
  4. Have you tried using Firehawk FX as the audio interface for recording your guitar? Connect it via USB directly to your computer and your DAW should recognize it. No need for your Scarlett. Guitar --> Firehawk (with amp simulation) --> PC You will still need your Scarlett for vocals since Firehawk has no mic input. To me, the only reason to use Firehawk for FX only and mic your amp would be if you prefer that sound to the Firhawk FX amp sounds, whether direct to PC or via your Scarlett.
  5. I notice that the specs on this speakers state "Frequency Response: 50 Hz - 18 kHz (-10DB)". A couple of things about that: - I believe true Full Range speakers are 20Hz - 20kHz 2which I think is the full range of human hearing. I have no idea whether this difference is significant or discernible to the human ear. - I don't know if the -10DB is the expected signal level at all of the speaker's input connections, XLR / 1/4" / RCA. Try different combinations of Helix output signal level (Line / Mic) and different jacks to see if you can get an improvement.
  6. Can you not select (click on) the split/merge blocks and delete them?
  7. You are correct in your understanding. Helix floor model and a powered monitor (or two for stereo) are all you need. FOH does the rest.
  8. I have this happening sometimes too - the 'E' appears immediately upon selecting a preset. I've tracked it down to an external pedal assignment. At the heel or toe position Helix is reading the pedal's position as slightly fluctuating, for instance the display shows it moving from 1% to 3% even though it is not physically moving. This is sufficient to have Helix detect a phantom change in the preset.
  9. I'm on a Windows system and I don't know if this is true on Macs also but....... I've encountered this with removable media devices before, not just in the context of Stagescape. After deleting the files on the card I often have to 'empty trash' in order for the data to be cleared. After deletion, and until trash removal, the data is still recoverable and hence still occupies space in the card's directories.
  10. Use the POD HD as your audio interface and connect your monitors to its outputs. Your UX1 is redundant; remove it from the configuration.
  11. There is s separate manual for the editor program. You will find it in the Manuals section of this website.
  12. Yes - all tones in the setlist are contained in the setlist file. The POD HD series bundle backups had the same issue as the Helix bundle. If the firmware update contained changes or additions to the factory setlists you could not use them and still restore your backed up presets. Restoring the saved bundle will overwrite the new factory presets. And restoring the factory presets will wipe out all other setlists. Bundles were never the way to go in my opinion.
  13. The first thing I would do, if you haven't done this yet, is listen to the Helix output directly. Remove the Focusrite and your computer from the configuration and connect Helix to your Bx5 monitors (see my text strikeouts above). Set the Helix XLR Output level to either Mic or Line depending on the level that your Bx5 input is expecting to receive at its XLR inputs. You can also use headphones with Helix as another test/sample. Do these configurations still sound bad?
  14. There's no faffing allowed in Canada. We're going to make people smoke weed instead.
  15. Thanks for the response. We can be a bit sensitive here sometimes. In your previous thread you were having trouble with the USB connection. I presume you got that working now? I'm sure people here want to help you achieve good tones, but it might take some work on your part to help us help you. For instance, would you go to the trouble of posting a recording of a sound you're not happy with and the preset file that you used for the recording? We could listen to the preset on our systems and compare sounds, and inspect the preset to try to make some adjustments to improve the sound. EDIT: The way these postings are usually made here is: - sound file uploaded to Soundcloud and a link posted here - preset uploaded to Customtone and a link posted here.
  16. Please give us some details about how you are using it. How are you monitoring the sound? Headphones? Direct to PA? DAW? Guitar Amp? Studio/Powered monitors? What Helix outputs are you using and what are your output settings? Are you using any factory presets as a reference, or have you created your own presets? Can you post a recording of a sound clip that leaves you unimpressed and underwhelmed, along with the preset you used when recording the sound? That will allow us to compare your sound to ours and determine if there's a problem with your Helix device.
  17. One fairly common issue is with IRs. If you are using any IRs instead of the Helix cabs you will have to reload them in exactly the same locations as they were when you backed things up.
  18. It's not uncommon to have to use Workbench to level the string volumes, but your case sounds extreme in that it only involves one string and the variance is so great. Try loosening the G string and inspect/clean the nut and saddle seating. There may be a small bit of dirt or dust affecting the string vibration. If that doesn't help try replacing the strings. If it persists it may be a bad piezo. Open a support ticket.
  19. Opening a support ticket was wise. You will get someone knowledgeable to step you through the procedures.
  20. Line 6 Edit is the correct edit program. I don't know why you can't use it. Try downloading the latest version again an describe what happens when you try to use it. The Pod xt included (I think) a license for the original Pod Farm program (version1.x). You will have to purchase a license to use PF 2.5. EDIT: Ooops - I thought the editor was Line 6 Edit. Try both Line 6 Edit and Gearbox.
  21. That's the disadvantage of 10 Stomps view. The Up/Down switches are disabled so you have to use the Mode switch to change presets, then use it again to get back to 10 Stomps. You are trading off the extra two stomp switches for the extra tap in preset switching.
  22. It's the guy with the .357 looking for the guy who stole his guitar - that's who I'd be worried about.....
  23. I believe that's the default behaviour. A serial number that is already registered cannot be re-registered. I have often advised people who are having trouble registering an already-registered device to contact Line 6 Support. I don't know what Line 6 Support does in those cases in terms of contacting the current registrant and confirming ownership. I suggest you call Line 6 for a definitive answer before removing the serial number. If I were looking to buy your guitar the lack of serial number would dissuade me. I would assume it is stolen and I would not buy it.
  24. You don't have to uninstall anything.
  25. And Driver version? Did you download just the Updater program or did you download and install the v2.0 Helix app/editor program, which also comes bundled with the latest Line 6 Updater and driver? That's the recommended method.
