btw.... I just tried setting my XLR Out level on Helix to Line. The only difference is the expected increase in volume. No noise was introduced. So I don't think your problem is just the setting. Also.... although I have not yet gigged with the Helix I have run it at very loud levels through the M20d/Stagesource system in my home studio. It's in the basement of a detached home and I've had it so loud my ears are ringing when nobody else is home. No hissing noise.

Try the support ticket route. I know you're frustrated, but I think you need Line 6 tech support and the asynchronous support ticket system will give people time to review things and do some research before responding, rather than having to respond in real time to a (perhaps?) frustrated customer.

Well, of course it's possible that your device is somehow faulty. The only known hiss issue comes with phantom power. Since you've ruled that out, and since other devices (mine for one) don't have this issue - it sounds like it's your device, not all devices. Have you opened a support ticket to work directly with Line 6 on a resolution?

Line 6 L3t - Selective outputs to FOH
silverhead replied to gingerfish's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
No - stereo vs. mono is not the issue. It's signal routing and mixing signals from multiple devices. The most productive thing for you to do is to route your FOH signal directly to FOH from your POD - not through the L3t. That opens up either of the options above. -
I think a separate 'lock' feature might be useful in unusual circumstances - most likely if/when the user has already made some error in their conscious thinking. And I agree that it should be very low on the priority list. But the question arises: how many times should you make a user confirm their intentions? Right now the user needs to initiate a SAVE action and then repeat/confirm it - there is a second chance to recover from an unintentional press of the SAVE button. So if the 'lock' feature were implemented, along with its own confirmation to identify/prevent a mistaken action, a user would need to declare their intention to make a change four times before any change was actually made. Personally I think that's excessive. Throughout the computer industry it is standard to have to confirm an initiated change action just once. At least if implemented the feature should be optional, and by default be off. Then any user could turn it on, acknowledging to themselves that they would like to be further protected from making mistakes and willing to bear the quadruple hurdle. I suspect they would pretty quickly turn it off again.

Changes to any preset are not permanent until/unless you specifically SAVE the changes. So you can consider the SAVE operation to be the lock that you desire. In either case you need to consciously declare that you want changes to be made. There's nothing automatic or unintentional happening, except the automatic syncing between the Helix app and the device. But the sync'ed changes are not permanent until you SAVE on the device. You can only restore a single preset if you have previously saved it as a single preset. That applies to factory presets as well. There is no public storage area for factory presets, setlists, or bundles. Some people are in the habit of making personal backups of all factory setlists (usually not all presets) immediately after updating the firmware. You can do that for yourself anytime if you haven't yet changed them. If you have already changed them and find yourself needing to restore a setlist or preset you can post here and ask if anyone can share their backup. Edit: after thinking more about the app and sync'ing, I think the only editing that 's possible now in the app involves preset naming and reorganization. I think those changes are permanent once confirmed, but the app requires confirmation before making the changes. Again, a conscious decision is required.

Line 6 L3t - Selective outputs to FOH
silverhead replied to gingerfish's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
Another option without adding a mixer is to pair your L3t to one of the existing monitor outputs. You would again send your FOH signal directly from the POD to FOH. Connect your L3t to the existing monitor and persuade some other band member to use the same monitor mix that satisfies both requirements - theirs and yours. -
Line 6 L3t - Selective outputs to FOH
silverhead replied to gingerfish's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
I think you will need an additional small mixer. Run your POD HD ProX XLR outputs directly to FOH, not through the L3t. Then connect your POD 1/4" mono output, as well as the other guitarist's input, to your personal mixer inputs. (I presume the other guitarist has some way of getting his signal across the stage to you. I think that's implied in your original question.) Connect the small mixer outputs to your L3t monitor and mix as desired. You will have your POD stereo going to FOH and two mono signals - you and the other guitarist - blended in your monitor. -
Line 6 L3t - Selective outputs to FOH
silverhead replied to gingerfish's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
The short answer to your specific question is 'No'. But you may have other options. Please provide more info about your PA/FOH setup and equipment. For instance, is the L3t speaker strictly an onstage monitor for you, or is it also one of the FOH Mains? Do you use a PA/mixer that supports stage monitors? -
Help with adding the basic built-in effects to their models.
silverhead replied to mileskb's topic in Helix
So, taking the JC120 as the example, it doesn't sound similar if you use the amp block, followed by a chorus block, and finally the cab block? I'm not sure Helix has modelled the chorus from the JC120, but I think that should be the only significant difference. Same for the Fender. It doesn't sound right lining up the amp, spring reverb, and cab? -
I tend to use a compressor, the Vintage preamp (in the EQ FX section) and a parametric EQ for the base tone. Then add a mild chorus, delay and reverb if desired. Also note that the Tone knob on the JTV provides acoustic guitar body modelling, and can greatly affect the 'boominess' of the tone. And I find that different acoustic models on the JTV require significantly different EQ settings.

I am running Helix Rack through an M20d and Stagesource speakers. I have no hiss from Helix. I have the M20d phantom power off and I am using the Helix XLR outputs set to Mic level. M20d channel settings for the Helix inputs uses factory preset HD500; trim is set to zero; channel volume at unity; Stagesource speaker volume notched; Helix master volume set to suit (generally a bit less than 50% = 12 o'clock in home studio).

Saving mytones locally with android app?
silverhead replied to gusdeleon's topic in AMPLIFi TT/FX100
The FX100 is a stand alone pedal. You don't need to use an AMPLIFi amplifier with it. You can connect the pedal outputs to any sort of amplification system (e.g. studio speakers, mixer/PA, ...) - not just another AMPLIFi. So, yes, the presets are stored on the pedal. In fact, if you are running the FX100 output into the AMPLIFi Guitar input you are using two identical (and redundant) tone generation and storage systems. Make sure they aren't fighting with each other. -
Pod Pro HD in rebooting loop when a USB cable is inserted
silverhead replied to matthewchisholm's topic in POD HD
I would go to Long & McQuade - a local Line 6 retailer. They are owned by Yorkville who is the Line 6 Canadian distributor and also operate the service centers. They may be able to order the part(s) for you. Note that usb failures typically involve replacing an internal circuit board as well as the usb jack/port itself. The board usually gets blown when the port fails. Be very sure that you are comfortable doing this yourself. -
Download and install the Vyzex editor.

how do you get music to stream through the amp?
silverhead replied to masterwolf's topic in AMPLIFi TT/FX100
On what device is your music playing? You need it to be playing form the music player in the AMPLIFi app running on your mobile device, which is connectd via Bluetooth to your amp. -
My mistake. I was going from theory, but I remember now encountering the same thing. The Return inputs are not available as the source for USB 7/8. I got around it by using the Aux and Mic (with adapter) inputs. Because these are different levels I had to adjust the L and R signal levels to get the stereo balance right, either at the source (e.g. Panning in the keyboard) or in the DAW. Sorry for the initial misinformation, but try the Aux and Mic.

About using the POD HD 500 looper only on instrument not on the vocals
silverhead replied to gutosantana's topic in POD HD
Over short distances the signal quality loss will be insignificant. If you need a cable to go 30-foot or more there will likely be a signal quality issue. -
Not exactly state-of-the-art anymore, nor 'all that power', but still..... http://line6.com/pocketpod/

Try connecting your keyboard outputs to Helix Return 1 and Return 2 as a stereo pair. In Helix Global Settings, set the 'dry' USB outputs (Sends) 7 and 8 to be the Return 1 and 2 inputs. Then set Cubase to record a stereo track using Helix USB Sends 7 and 8. This will send your keyboard audio output directly to Cubase with no Helix processing.

Pod Pro HD in rebooting loop when a USB cable is inserted
silverhead replied to matthewchisholm's topic in POD HD
Check the USB port on your POD. There should be a black rectangular piece of plastic protecting the pins/connectors inside. If you don't see the plastic, and can see the pins, your Pod needs to be taken in to a authorized service center for repair. -
About using the POD HD 500 looper only on instrument not on the vocals
silverhead replied to gutosantana's topic in POD HD
No, unfortunately. As your quote says, the looper cannot be placed in only one path. It can only be placed at the beginning or the end of the signal chain. In either case it records the signal on both Path A and B. When placed at the end of the chain (post) you do have the option to use the mixer to mute the unwanted signal as described. Another way would be to the use the HD500 FX Loop in the vocal signal path to send your vocals to an external device. Do not send it back using the FX Loop Return jack (or set the Return level to zero). That way your vocal signal will never reach the Looper. Edit: Just realized hurghanico responded while I was composing. We agree on the workaround (FX Loop) so that's reassuring! -
Saving mytones locally with android app?
silverhead replied to gusdeleon's topic in AMPLIFi TT/FX100
You cannot access My Tones offline or while logged out because it needs your login info. Otherwise who is the 'me' to whom My Tones refers? There is a 'Save to Hardware' option in the Save operation. By hardware it means your bluetooth-connected Line 6 device.
