2 Helix Stadium Questions

Just watched the videos about the upcoming Helix Stadium. Pretty cool but I'm HOPING I can resist the GAS and just keep using the 2 helixes I own which I'm totally happy with.

2 question arise for me though:

1. What are the models it ships with?

2. While they have made it VERY tempting by being able to import my old presets (I cannot imagine having to recreate the hundreds of presets I've made for many bands including MIDI control of my keyboard), I'm curious to know how it handles the translation. If I'm using an amp, effect, etc. that's not in the Stadium, how does it handle that?

I don't own Helix hardware, just the software version: Helix Native.  I received an email from Guitar Center today, and this is where I learned about Helix Stadium.  I wonder if Line 6 will have a Helix Native Stadium.  After hunting around youtube, this link seems to have the most information (unless someone suggests something better):

So far 16 genuine new ones and ALL old modules minus the very old hybrid cabs.

So your presets should load 1:1 unless you've used the latter.

Given the success of HXN, I'd bet they will do that.

Even then, the replacement cabs should be available and be an easy swap once your presets are all loaded onto the Stadium.

Oh they are making REAL hard for me to not want to upgrade! Now the ONLY downsides are having to use an outboard accessory for Variax support (I quite often use Variax with VDI for no brainer guitar/pickup/tuning switching with presets and snapshots) and the fact that I own 2 Helixes so I have a backup when one needs a footswitch repaired or such. I use my Helix for EVERYTHING including MIDI keyboard control with many different bands.

My guess is that all the Helix models are there, next to the new Stadium models.

Just like the Helix also has legacy models in there. And like the new cabinet models next to the old Helix models.

I can see why, but I don't like that they did not include the L6 link.   I guess they really don't like PowerCab users :)  I will have to buy $250.00 adapter to use it the way I do now.  plus one more thing to carry around, setup, breakdown, and probably leave on the stage somewhere!   :)

However, thank you for adding all the cool stuff!

I don’t see it as a PowerCab thing. The same is true for Variax users like me; no VDI. I think it makes good business sense to ask the small minority of PowerCab and Variax users to pay for the additional features rather than include them, meaning everybody else subsidizes us.

It is a bummer though. I mean I see the same jack for Nexus so it just feels like having the Variax support in there wouldn't be a big lift. I wonder if it would at lest POWER the Variax without the accessory even if you can control any Variax functions.

Yeah, don't think I agree with that statement.  wonder how much it would have costs to have kept the L6 link?

I am still very excited about the product and really looking forward to using it.

Love my Helix , but will upgrade to the Stadium. However, with all the extra potential benefits, I am surprised no one has discussed what a solo singer/guitarist wants. There is a mic input, but no dedicated effects for a singer. Eg. harmoniser, autotune, de-esser etc. [Think Headrush, which I tried, but too much latency.] With all this potential power on tap, I believe a trick is being missed.

I agree. Line 6 seems to have dropped that consideration as of the POD HD series. I previously owned a POD X3 Live which was a dual input/tone device. While it didn’t have the dedicated vocal FX you mention it DID have a very handy feature called Lock Tone 2. You could set up a vocal tone in Tone 2 of one preset, activate the lock feature, and then navigate among many presets with different guitar processing using Tone 1. No need to duplicate your vocal tone in all presets; it remained steady. I still miss that feature.

I have Boss Gt-1000 and Pod Go, so i dont know if i need Stadium. I have to struggle with GAS... Besides its a bit dessapointing that Stadium only have one control jack. If i connect a expression pedal i cant control the channel of my amp in 4cm. Even Stadium XL only has 2 control jacks, while with GT-1000 i have 2 jacks for expression/ dual footswith + dedicated amp control. I dont know... Who knows the prices in europe?

Looks awesome, but i dont know.

Other thing that i dont like is that is very WiFi and cloud dependent. If i capture my amp and it needs cloud + WiFi, how do i really know the capture is really from my amp?

While you can't rely on it, I can easily see an accessory coming out that uses the Nexus connection to add more jacks/ports of all types.  If the demand is high enough.

Huh? Where did you read that?

The vanilla Stadium has 2 external control inputs. No idea whether and how you can utilize them as amp controls.

The XL has 4.

For the dedicated amp controls however (2 on the vanilla, 4 on the XL) you might need that extension box.

FWIW I use Helix Native a lot with vocals in my DAW, some of the reverbs and delays are gorgeous with voice. I think with live vocals, for harmonies and pitch correction you're probably best off with a dedicated box (e.g., Vocalist) that goes between the mic and the mic input. Helix can handle dynamics, EQ, time-based FX, etc. (BTW you can do de-essing with the 3-Band Compressor although it's not obvious...I guess I need to include that tip in the next version of my Helix book!)

I’m hoping they release what 16 Agoura guitar amps will be initially released.

I’m hoping the Revv Generator models are included since they are shown in the photos online and in the presentation.

really excited!!
