  1. I agree with doffe. You need to set the global output setting to "Studio/Direct" found on page 4 of the setup page (hold down the view button to get into setup). Then use either your balanced or unbalanced outs to an FRFR system like a PA.
  2. Just brainstorming workarounds if the overload issue is legit. I was contemplating adding a GK-3. This would allow switching between VDI and 1/4 inch out without unplugging cables. It would also save wear on the selector switch when playing songs like Eddie's version of You Really Got Me. It looks like others have thought about this as well and so far the consensus is that it would be problematic.
  3. Anybody install a kill switch on their JTV that works on the VDI output? Both mags and models.
  4. I already have the best JTV they make... an 89F :o  :D :P ;) Did I really just say that?

  6. Agreed. I guess their thought process is that they will catch it when FW updates are needed.
  7. I get what you are saying here. I can't think of a real life comparison, but if there was (or is) such a thing as a lifetime subscription to Sirius radio or LoJack and you sold a car with the subscription, then somehow removed it, I suppose that would be a better comparison.
  8. I can see why it would be all or nothing, but just one device for the buyer is kinda cheesy. Thanks for the reply hurghanico. Always appreciate your input.
  9. That's like someone selling you a car, then removing the muffler. The guy is stealing from you if he sold you the POD with the added model packs. Ignorance is not a defense. My question for those in the know is, can the seller gift just one of his four allowed installs of the models, or is it all four or nothing?
  10. You're showing your cookies!
  11. A staff member for Line6 has stated: "Using VDI out and 1/4" out simultaneously would create problems of circuit loading and current draw issues (with or without battery). The circuit board wouldn't handle that kind of load. In case anyone was thinking about that one." Has anyone come up with a work around for this problem of circuit loading and current draw using VDI and 1/4 in out?
  12. 1. The amps are mono, but if you place a stereo effect after them you will have stereo out. 2. If the PA has no pan, it probably is not a stereo PA. I was a little surprised when I first saw one.
  13. I think I had things a little confused until I wrote it out. Does this look right? Ex. 1: Piezo E6 is defective and piezo A5 is not defective. Post piezo circuits are not defective. I hear the problem when I play the E6 string. A5 string sounds fine. I swap the wires from the E6 and A5 piezos into the circuit board. I still hear the problem when I play the E6 string. A5 string sounds fine. Ex. 2: Post piezo circuit for E6 is defective and post circuit for A5 is not defective. Both piezos are not defective. I hear the problem when I play the E6 string. A5 string sounds fine. I swap the wires from the E6 and A5 piezos into the circuit board. I hear the problem when I play the A5 string. E6 string sounds fine. Firmware? I suppose it could cause all sorts of problems, but other than re-flashing or trying different versions, I don't know how you would troubleshoot it.

    Helix manual

Aren't you the Canadian that was just looking for a 500(X). Have you already converted to the Helix?
  15. I don't know why exactly, but sometimes when I used to do updates thru my 500X, Monkey would not see my JTV-89F. I only use the USB VDI Interface now, but since you don't have that option, you may want to try changing the order you use to connect things up. What I mean is, if everything is connected when you start Monkey and Monkey does not see you JTV, unplug the JTV from your POD, wait a second, then plug it back in again. If nothing happens, re-scan for devices in Monkey. You can do this same process with the POD's USB cable to see if that helps. I did something like this process when Monkey could not see my JTV-89F a while back. Hope this helps.
  16. Did you have a chance to review the manual? It should tell you the answer to your question. If the 2 speakers are 8 ohms each, then: They are a total of 16 ohms if wired in series They are a total of 4 ohms if wired in parallel Hope that helps. There are plenty of websites that can give you an idea how this works, but I think your first stop is the manual.
  17. The repeats is controlled with feedback, not mix. Turn the mix back to where you had it and increase the feedback.
  18. The model knob looks like it is back lit white. The alt tuning knob is not lit unless I change tuning, then it lights up the same back lit white for a second or two.
  19. Using the mags on my newly acquired used 89F is a decent "real" guitar for $800. I just wish the pitchglide worked without the pulse with my other "real" guitars. Most of my guitars a black, or have black in them. They are not all point though, except where I cut off the excess string at the tuning key. :P
  20. Sounds like they are both on at the same time. I send the the mags to a DT and a 6 or 12 string acoustic out to an active FR. Other blends sound pretty good too. I turn on modelling with the model selector. Then I select Variax on one Input and Variax Mags on the other input in HD Edit. Hard L on one Path and hard R on the other and presto. Both the model and the mags are heard out their respective speakers. So my question is... Am I taking the slow road to frying my 89F?
  21. This is just a potential problem using both the 1/4 in out and the VDI at the same time, correct? Is there any potential problems with being connected to my 500X via the VDI cable only and selecting Variax for Input 1 and Variax Mags for Input 2?
  22. I have only tried it in front of the amp. BINGEWOOD posted this video: http://line6.com/support/topic/15331-hd500x-trying-to-mimic-a-voice-box-effect/?p=112315 Here is the youtube link: He shared his patches here: http://line6.com/customtone/profile/littlekamikaze/ I have not tried them yet. This weekend probably. Cheers!
