  1. You are in "Preset Mode". Only FS1 thru FS4 are available to turn effects on or off or assign MIDI CCs. To assign FS5 thru FS8 you need to be in "Pedalboard Mode". To access the System Setup options, press and hold the VIEW button. Here you can configure several device functions, Input & Output settings and more. The first page gives you the option for the Footswitch Mode (Knob 1): Configures the function of POD HD500X footswitches FS5 through FS8 for either “Pedalboard Mode†or “Preset Modeâ€. This setting is global. The manual is your friend. http://line6.com/support/manuals/
  2. It just so happens that my bridge pickup is "free floating" in it's cut out because I had to remove the pickup ring to make room for a GK-3 Hex pickup I am testing on my JTV-89F. I have not yet manufactured a new pickup ring to hold the mag pickup in place. I'm actually using a few cotton balls to hold the pickup towards the nut. This made it very easy to simply move the pickup around, both closer and farther from the strings. I did not detect a change to the sound of the modeled string, much less induce a plink. Did I not test this theory correctly?
  3. It is a colloquialism. According to (http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/steal+thunder), to steal someone's thunder would be "To use, appropriate, or preempt the use of another's idea, especially to one's own advantage and without consent by the originator.", or "to do something that takes attention away from what someone else has done."
  4. Not to steal spacealt's thunder, but YES.
  5. Does this link not describe the problem as being associated with "transverse vibration", not longitudinal? Does this mean one could take a JTV without the plink and induce a plink by moving the mag pickups?
  6. The simplest way I know of is to take advantage of L6 Link. A mic cable will work between the POD and the DT until you get a digital AES/EAU cable. As you are a long time user of the POD, you can appreciate its flexibility, i.e., placing effects before or after the amp model, etc. Being a metal payer, you will most likely appreciate MEAMBOBBO's site found here: http://foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/
  7. The POD only controls Channel A of the DT amps. As you said, bypassing engages Channel B of the DT. No way I know of to save settings for CHannel B on DT in the POD. You can control all the settings of Channel B of the DT via MIDI, but you would need software (like MIDIDesigner or others) to recall specific "patch" settings like volumes and EQs. The amp, cab, reverb type, topology, class, pentotde/triode settings will remain the way you set them with MIDI when you turn your DT back on until you change them. I hope I didn't say that in too confusing a way. I should have mentioned that you can use the POD's MIDI capabilities to control DT parameters, but unless you want the default settings for various amps, you will be doing a bit of tap dancing.
  8. The Floyd Rose is not the source of this problem. I have played several guitars with different bridge types and even a keyboard into the POD with only the pitch glide in the chain. The use of 7ths or 9ths completely disrupts the tone. Alternate tuning on the Variax guitars is really nice if you like that convenience. I don't have a Helix, but I saw a video by one of our forum members (gangsterusa) where it looks like he is playing a Les Paul, (not a JTV-59) where he has a FS set to change tuning to Eb. I didn't know the Helix did that. gangsterusa link
  9. The root and the fifth together (just two notes) is about as far as I could get and not get warbling. I think "if used within its limits" is how I would phrase it.
  10. The pitch glide in my 500X is fine for single notes, but warbles with multiple note combinations, some worse than others. It has been stated by some that they do not notice a problem with their units. Others have noted it is not a polyphonic effect. Some indicate the best position is at the beginning of your chain. Nothing helped my unit with multiple notes. Don't mean to be a downer. Maybe someone else will provide better news.
  11. The last Y in PianoGuyY actually stands for Yoda. There is no try eye, only do hear.
  12. This was brought up some time ago and someone from Line 6 (Digital Igloo?) said they actually did a survey among a group of users. They said most of them liked it the way it was, but I seem to recall someone posting in ideascale to make it an option via a software update.
  13. That is bizarre. Were the amp names missing too?
  14. I would guess that means you went sky diving, but a 150 is rather small for that type of adventure.
  15. My milestone... 3 digits... yay! Two thirds of the way to my little Cessna 150. I used to fly one of those before I had children.
  16. Et hoc manifestum est Cela est évident Esto es obvio 这是显而易è§çš„ وهذا واضح ×–×” מובן מ×ליו
  17. Perhaps not. The warning is overloading the circuitry with too much current draw, regardless of input voltages.
  18. Tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak Somewhere in this town See me and the boys we don't like it Want control of our sound I can hear Line 6 on my trail All hell breaks loose, alarm and sirens wail Like the game if you lose Go to jail Breakout!
  19. Do you mean something like this? Or do you leave off the ring connected wire?
  20. The clips sound like crapola to my ears. And it's £599.00 - $854.74.
  21. "First you'll have to find a retailer that's willing to open up the box before they sell it to you, then sit it aside while you beg L6 for some insight into what parts may or may not be in the thing. Easier said than done... " I did it with my DT50HD. I wanted to make sure it was made after the problems Brazzy ran into. It wasn't that hard to get someone on the phone to answer my questions. I've always had a good experience with the tech support people when I called them. But I did buy it first and made sure I called right away to ensure I could return it if it was one of the "batch that could have the problem". I told the folks where I bought it that I was going to do that and they were fine with it.
  22. You may be able to call Line 6 with the serial number and ask them if it is post fix.

    New Update

I used to carry a map in my glove compartment. I used to have to look up information in something called an index in a hard bound book called an encyclopedia. I used to have to wash my clothes on a rock down by the river. Just kidding about the rock thing. Truth is, stuff changes and people have different expectations and skill sets. I hope we never loose electricity for a month. Half the population would be gone.
  24. Perhaps someone from Line 6 will chime in on this, but I think you will have to authorize and install the model pack(s) the unit you will be using through your Line 6 account. Your purchase allows up to 4 units to install the model pack(s) at any one time. This means you will have to uninstall it when you are done with that unit. Also, I think there is a limit of about 10 products you can authorize, but I think you can arrange to lift that limit through Line 6. Hope this helps.
