  1. You could get a resitive or reactive load box and plug the tube amp speaker out to that. Then connect the line out from the load box to power cab. Just tried is with some Mesa amps and a Fryette PS-2 reactive load section. Was pretty cool, especially with the PCAB speaker models.
  2. This may be a Helix + Mesa Amps issue. I see hum and noise issues with Mesa amps pop up here occasionally. I just tried the Fryette Power Station self-attenuation method (link below) in FX Loop 1. There was no noise, hum, or squeal. Now this probably should be a whole other topic, but WOW!!! The Fryette PS-2 self-attenuated in a Helix effects loop is really flat and transparent. I was surprised when AB'ing by bypassing the FX Loop in and out with headphones on. It does seem to enhance dynamics and harmonics. Maybe it's that last little bit of tube amp/cab (reactive load) interaction missing between the amp model and IR's/cab model. Probably not enough difference to be worth the extra device and cabling if you were going direct or FRFR live. But pretty cool to tinker with at home. The PS-2 works really well with all of the Helix preamp models too.
  3. When I use a Mesa tube amp and load box in a Helix FX loop, I get a loud high pitched squeal when I turn the amp up to any reasonable volume. Think a tune-in-Tokeo, short wave radio type thing when you turn the amps volume up. Guitar>Helix Instrument Input>Send 1>Amp Input>Amp Speaker Out>Load Box Amp In>Load Box Line Out>Helix Return 1. I have tried this with 3 load boxes, TAD Silencer, Mesa Cab Clone, and Fryette Power Station, and three Mesa amps, Recto, Stiletto, and Mark V. Same squealing result with all. There is no issue if I plug the guitar straight into the amp back into the Helix return, or if I connect the Mesa amps Slave out back into Helix return. It only happens with the Helix FX Loop running through both the amp and load box in series. I have tried Global setting the loop levels to both Instrument and Line, using Send 1 and Return 2, using Send 1 and Helix Mic input as a return. Anyone else experience this and have a solution?
  4. Since Line 6 doesn't seem to want to model tube power amps (Mesa Simul 2:90, Marshall EL34 100/100, VHT, etc.) or amp power sections separately, I'm wondering what solutions you might be using for tube power amp models. I made some tube amp + cab IRs that are passable, but not the same feel as amp models. I'd love to bring my Mesa Triaxis and Marshall JMP-1 back into rotation with Helix. All the signal routing and midi control is there.
  5. Well, a year late to this thread, but I FINALLY re-downloaded my 3 Sigma purchase. The ACE ones of the Mesa cabs and Friedman cab is MUCH better for Helix high gain amps than the previous versions. The other 3 Sigma 65 Amps, Port, and Fender Twin cab IR's I have are sounding great with the clean amps. The Placater Dirty + HBE & saturation on is really good with the 3 Sigma Friedman 412 ACE IR's. One of my new favs!
  6. While I don't own the 3 Sigma Helix packs, I do own some of their IRs which are pretty good, especially for heavier tones. I've thought about buying their Helix preset packs which come with some IRs. I do like the 3 Sigma Helix Hi Gain pack demo clips a bit better than the Fremen ones I heard. https://www.3sigmaaudio.com/helix-collection/
  7. To answer the OP connectivity question, Daisy chain the L6 Links from Helix to Powercab 1 in, then out of Powercab 1 to Powercab 2 in. I think Helix recognize when two L6 Link speakers (DT, Stagesource, Powercab, etc.) are connected and assigns one left and one right. On the second topic, I have Tannoy 8in studio monitors. I actually took Helix to Guitar Center and tried them all and preferred these over the others. I really thought they were all I wanted. For actual studio work and Helix, the Tannoys are great. But I have to say, for just live type jamming along to songs, backing tracks, Rocksmith, etc. I honestly prefer just the single Powercab over the studio monitors. I am considering a second one myself.
  8. MixIR2 can create a new single IR from a mix if individual IRs. I used it quite a lot to make single IRs from multiple to save Helix processing. http://www.redwirez.com/mixir2.jsp
  9. I think @SUBnet192 Atomic speakers are full range with HF drivers. Some of those guitar cab intended power amps can be harsh on the top end. Not noticible with the frequency response of a guitar cab, but nails on a chalkboard with a n HF driver in a full range speaker. I had a Crate powerblock that sounded great with Helix and my Mesa cab, but had high frequency distortion that can be heard in any of my bass or PA cabs with a horn. I'm sure the SDPower Stage is higher quality. The OP could always return if it did t work out for full range.
  10. Seymour Duncan has those Powerstage pedalboard amps. I think they aremaketing them for guitar cabs, but may work with your passive Atomic.
  11. My main rig was Helix + Spider Valve (power amp in) for over a year until I picked up a JTV Variax. Then I ran direct to PA with only monitors for a while so I could run acoustic models I just picked up a Powercab 112. I owned a DT50 for a short time too, but really didn't like it with Helix. The best electric guitar sound/feel of everything I've tried is Helix into Spider Valve. I still go back and forth between SV and Powercab. As they mentioned above, get the exact Line 6 recommended tubes and bias it properly. They are the most neutral and reliable, and will keep your SV out of the repair shop. A Line 6 tech on the Spider Valve forum posted them. I have both SV 112 MKII and SV HD 100 MKii. But all that said, the difference in sound/feel is really for you on stage and maybe your band mates if they have amps too. Helix + SV mic'd up or Helix direct to PA will be about the same for the audience.
  12. @jdag Admittedly, it's been a while since I made the initial settings Rocksmith 2014. I think there has been an update since I made the setting changes as I don't see the same options in the UI that I remembered. But I played RS this morning with Helix + Powercab + PC and it worked fine. I ran some web searches and discovered the rocksmith.ini file. Like other applications, you can edit this in notepad and affect the startup settings. The forum wont let me post any more pics (maxed out total size I guess), but here is the text from my rocksmith.ini file located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rocksmith2014 I suggest you make a backup copy of the rocksmith.ini file before editing. [Audio] EnableMicrophone=0 ExclusiveMode=1 LatencyBuffer=4 ForceDefaultPlaybackDevice= ForceWDM=0 ForceDirectXSink=0 DumpAudioLog=0 MaxOutputBufferSize=0 RealToneCableOnly=0 Win32UltraLowLatencyMode=1 [Renderer.Win32] ShowGamepadUI=0 ScreenWidth=0 ScreenHeight=0 Fullscreen=2 VisualQuality=1 RenderingWidth=0 RenderingHeight=0 EnablePostEffects=1 EnableShadows=1 EnableHighResScope=1 EnableDepthOfField=1 EnablePerPixelLighting=1 MsaaSamples=4 DisableBrowser=0 [Net] UseProxy=1 There is also a RocksmithConfiguration.pdf doc in that same folder. It is dated 2016 and doesn't seem to cover all the rocksmith.ini settings. But it does state... Although some audio options are accessible through the Rocksmith 2014 menus, for complete control, locate the Rocksmith.INI file. 13. @JazzMetalBear I think you are on the money. The "thump, oomph, warm and slightly compressed punch and singing harmonics" come back with Helix into my Spider Valve tube amps with V30 speakers. But I've already gotten spoiled/lazy with Helix + Variax + Powercab. I've accepted simple, flexible, and convenient in lieu for that last <5% tube/speaker magic remaining. But it's always there with Helix + Spider Valve if I ever compelled.
  14. PC I'll double check my settings when I get home tonight
  15. USB from Helix to computer, just the standard way you would connect for recording, updates, etc. No Rocksmith cable. Heaphones or speakers connected straight to Helix. In Rocksmith, you have the option to change input types. Mic type wroks best for me. Then all sounds and effects are from Helix models with no latency.
  16. Yeah, I run Helix and Rocksmith. I use the Helix amp models and set Rocksmith to the Mic input. Rocksmith with Helix amp models has almost no lag. Scores got better too ;)
  17. Can you export the IR'sfrom HX Edit? Maybe you can re-import them.
  18. Fellas, Helix into the Power Amp In of these SV's are the best sounds I've gotten from Helix. Better than DT50, Powercab, L2m, or solid state power amp into guitar cab. I have an HD100 MKii and 112 MKii. Powecab may be more versatile with my JTV Variax, but SV's sound and feel WAY better. Long live SV ;)
  19. Thanks! Video from the road would be interesting :)
  20. Oh hey, I just remembered that I made some IRs from my Mesa Recto 2x12 using my Mesa Simul 2:90 power amp, as well as other Mesa power amp sections of my Mark V, Stiletto, Triple Rec, and 20/20 They might work really well with the real Triaxis preamp. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/9rw7mvrkyglsy1l/AAA9SDU8RFV49_pGFCV0U_AQa?dl=0
  21. I had to turn power cab volume about 80-90% up with Helix volume little over half way up fora jam session. Connected via L6 link.
