Didn't realise that I was your momma ;-). I posted that reply on my phone! Couldn’t find the patch that I think I downloaded so here is a copy. As I said, it's not brilliant... Have fun!

v2.6 is here! Global EQ is not?
Matt_Brown replied to Matt_Brown's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
That's OK, we are here to help each other! Have you any experience using a DT? starting to wonder if I should dump it and go L3? -
All the models and how to access them is explained in the JTV Pilots Guide. Basically the knob with things like 'spank' on it selects the guitar them the pick up selector gives you a selection of that type of guitar. Which JTV do you have? It's a bit more sophisticated with a 59 but you get used to it quickly! Have fun!

v2.6 is here! Global EQ is not?
Matt_Brown replied to Matt_Brown's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
That maybe so with FRFR speakers - which the L3s are! The point of having the DT is so that the POD can change the valve topography over the L6 link... -
New JTV-59 -- wow!
Matt_Brown replied to grandinq's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I've been a Strat man for 30 years so got a 500 when they came out. Always liked the idea of a 'flame top' though so picked up a 59 2 years ago. Really like it and would recommend it to anyone... -
On the subject of 2nd class users if you have a 'Dream Rig', putting all your money in Line 6 gear, then you can't use the Global EQ functionality over L6 Link. I don't remember them advertising THAT before going live! I too have worked in an IT environment and do realise that you can't always buikd what you set out to do - we used to refer to things as 'features' rather than problems! - but I'd ask Line 6 to do what it can to fix what can hopefully be teething err, features.... peace people...

v2.6 is here! Global EQ is not?
Matt_Brown replied to Matt_Brown's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
I hear what you say about providing to most but, without doing this in a scientific way, I'm guessing the majority of Dreamriggers asked for (and expected) to get this feature when it was 'advertised' (ages ago). Are there really so many more people with a 500X who arn't using L6 Link? Its got to be a major purchase consideration for most? Its the thing that makes it 'work'... -
v2.6 is here! Global EQ is not?
Matt_Brown replied to Matt_Brown's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
That's a shame. I think that I'd rather have better control of the ones I have rather than a load more that I probably won't use... I think we all realise that changes in the acoustics in different rooms plays havoc with Patch Sounds - I find that I sometimes have my DT25 on a chair or table even! and other times on the floor trying to control the treble across my carefuly crafted patches.... Will this be added for L6 Link at some point? Thanks Zap.. -
Yay, Just updated my 500X to v2.6 and about to have a blast through my Dream Rig! Then I notice in the notes that it says under known issues "NOTE—Due to L6 LINK’s flexible routing, Global EQ is not available at this output.". Does this mean that you won't actually be able to use this function (the most requested blah blah..) if all your gear is Line 6?

There is still one in customtone. You just need to look ;-)

There was a great patch for this for XT but since upgrading to 500X I can't replicate it. The XT patch won't run through the converter. There is a patch in Customtone that gives you the whammy dive bomb but, for me, it doesn't work in the song. I now use a work around with two patches. Both with a nice 'Black Keys' sound but one with a drop D tuning for my JTV and play the riff in drop D and get the 'bomb' by pressing the E string behind the nut. OK, it's not the same but 'it does'. You could play the whole song in drop D but i don't like to so i switch to the std tuning patch as i go into the verse. Hope this helps! . e riff

New Guy to Variax!!
Matt_Brown replied to moleng1's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Welcome! If you are still looking for an Acoustic patch then try the one Rad made in Customtone. If you want to split the signal & send a 'pure' acoustic signal to another amp/pa then I tweaked it a bit and mad a patch called Acoustic DT. You have an awesome rig now that I'm sure you will have loads of fun with! -
Battery problem on the variax (maybe)
Matt_Brown replied to wilson69978's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
Ooo, sorry. Tend to think that peeps would know that. Too easy to assume knowledge... At least now there is a thread to clarify. Thanks for posting! -

Matt_Brown replied to wilson69978's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
@russgoos. Sounds like you need a replacement. Like you I use a POD but one off the reasons to swap my v500 for a JTV was the fact you can actually run it off a battery which you could do for about an hour on the v500! That said, I've never actually used it on battery so maybe just save the money? You can always run it on pickups if the POD fails? -

Matt_Brown replied to wilson69978's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
Ya, pod is a good way to go. I used to go to pretty much the biggest Line 6 dealer in the UK and they never had a charged battery for a JTV. They did aways say that though! Now I just take my own when I want to try stuff out! -
No Joy with JTV-59 & USB Interface
Matt_Brown replied to raston's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
When you get the replacement can you get them to get it working in the shop? If you take your laptop and use a pod that should rule out a load of potential probs? I would persevere if you can add it's a great guitar. I've had a couple of years of fun and great tones with mine.. Hope it works out for you... -
I will admit that changing strings is a pain in the preverbial! Maybe some locking machines might help too? The graphtec sounds like a great upgrade!

new firmware for hd500x and models pack
Matt_Brown replied to guigui5710's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
I do see what you say about 'sides'. I spose for me, I was off buying Line 6 gear as they always seemed to sell the 'good stuff'as an extra and that seemed to stop with the xt. I appreciate that I have so many sounds on my HD that I'll probably never need another. But there is always that voice inside saying that you 'need more'. It would be nice to buy individual amps/effects so you could use them 'for a change' though I spoke.... -
new firmware for hd500x and models pack
Matt_Brown replied to guigui5710's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
Yes, but I had thought (hoped) that the selling addition model packs was something that they had stopped doing. I appreciate that ' support' is probably the wrong terminology but it does ensure that there is built in obsolescence. ... -
Getting Started Links
Matt_Brown replied to TomyGun's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
It will get easier! one bit of advice I DIDN'T take that I wish I had is to learn to programme the 500 using its buttons. I got caught out at a gig the other night where I wish I could have tweaked a patch but without connecting it to a computer I'm useless! I need to read the manual again! -
Getting Started Links
Matt_Brown replied to TomyGun's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
Well, you just got an amazing piece of kit but it will take a while getting your mind round it. You will find that the fog starts to clear pretty quickly though and it will become easier. For me I downloaded all the manuals on the support section for all the bits if kit (to a tablet) and this helped me get familiar with my rig. The main pointers I could give that answer some of your questions is that to get the 5 guitar models from a 3 way switch you have three (obviously) when you power on the JTV - the guitar model switch will light in white. You get positions 1, 3 & 5 on a 5 way. Press the tuning knob and the guitar selector will go blue. The 3 way then selects 2, 3 & 4. I thought this would be a pain when I started but you willfind that you will do most switching with patches on the Pod and its really no big deal! Yes, you can do as you say and save whatever you like as a patch. I suggest you consentrate on the Pod manual as that is the 'brain' of the set up. I would plug it all in and have a play. Its all part of the fun! -

Matt_Brown replied to guigui5710's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
Reading the blurb on the NAMM press release I guess we will get the global eq setting that people have been asking for and then have to pay for any new sounds. I can appreciate that Line6 need to make money buy I hope that this dosent lead to them effectively selling support for their products.... -
Slash-type Marshall sound.
Matt_Brown replied to tormod1's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
I find customtone very helpful - even if it only gives me a place to 'start' sculpting a tone. @tormod1, there are loads of sites that will give you chapter & verse on Slash's gear so I would suggest looking at that and then putting your own tone together. You have all the tools you need with your dream rig so im guessing start with a Lester guitar and a Marshall amp - although I sometimes feel that the Park amp gives me a more authentic Marshall sound! As crusinion2 says, Its the ears that do the hearing. Experimenting is fun! Even if it does annoy my wife! -
HD500X not using JVT tunings correctly
Matt_Brown replied to xrayjohn's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
I've found the best way to do this is to create a '5 string' Keef sound in workbench and save this in a custom slot on the JTV. I then use a patch on the POD to call this. It also means that I can choose this tuning from the JTV in any patch by selecting the custom guitar. For me though I'm having problems with the 500X where I want it to change from eg Reso to Acoustic but no matter what parameters I set it will only change guitars within the Reso set. ie I want it to change from Reso 2 to Acoustic 4 but for some reason it only changes to Reso 4 - if I change patch whilst Edit is open on the Mixer page then you can see it change to Acountic 4 momentarily. But then it changes itself back to Reso!
