Use Helix LT Volume knob to control PC 112 plus volume ?

No, just Command Center. Unless you're tethered to a computer, then you could use a MID Monitor. -
CRTs, green screens and DOS prompts - good times!

http://midiextender.com/ap_notes/Beyond the MIDI 50 ft Limit.htm As with any cable, it's "best practice" to not use more than you need in a specific configuration. -
Use Helix LT Volume knob to control PC 112 plus volume ?

Not yet, but hoping the next update will fix that. Meantime you'll need a separate midi cable. You can create a preset to set the level using an Instant Command, and the level will remain the same between presets until you change it, but unless your presets are perfectly leveled, that won't be very useful. -
There's no 1176, but there's two versions of the LA-2A. I heard that the moon is made of green cheese. I'd want to taste it before I'd believe that.

Use Helix LT Volume knob to control PC 112 plus volume ?
rd2rk replied to cheekybeermonk's topic in Helix
Well, you can't do that. BUT....the Output Level on the PC112+ can be controlled by MIDI using CC#7. If you're not using the on-board pedal for anything else, you can set it in Command Center to send MIDI CC#7. If you're already using it, you'll need a separate expression pedal. -
Yes, it's a LARGE rabbit hole. The search for TONE is endless. The tone you're seeking is not just a question of "What did he use?", but what did the recording engineer do to make it sound like that on the record? To make it even more complicated, why would you think that you could duplicate that tone, made through a stack of Laneys and modified by the engineer, through whatever it is that you're using to listen to your attempts? Not meaning to be discouraging, but as long as you're seeking someone else's tone, you're in the biggest rabbit hole of all! Play with your tone-toys until you find a sound that you like. Unless you're in a tribute band and need the EXACT tones. In which case, considering the endless variables, you have a LONG, STEEP learning curve ahead of you. Good luck! FWIW - there's a guy over on The Gear Page that plays in a Black Sabbath tribute band. He posts videos, and he's GOT THE TONE! You might want to sign up over there and see how he does it. I THINK he uses a Helix.

The cabs (I think I said this before, maybe another thread) are a type of impulse response made by L6 for the Helix. IRs are just a recording of a cab's response to a frequency sweep. So, to answer the question, IRs replace Cabs.

You'll need a pair of balanced 1/4" cables. Plain old guitar cables will also work. You can also get (best solution in terms of future flexibility) a pair of XLR to 1/4" TRS cables. That last option would allow you to send an additional signal to a guitar amp but, since you don't plan ever to gig, it's not really necessary.

Above is from the LT Manual. Below is from the HXS manual: When set to "Touch," touching a Stomp mode switch selects its assigned item(s) but pressing doesn't. When set to "Press," pressing a Stomp mode switch selects its assigned item(s) but touching doesn't (helpful if you insist on playing barefoot). When set to "Both," either touching or pressing will select the assigned item. The default is "Touch."

No. It used to work that way, but an update (don't remember which one) changed it. It's now classified as a "bug" and L6 is aware. Maybe v3.0 will fix it?

Attach a copy (NOT a screenshot) of the preset so we can look at it.

Robots are a duplicitous bunch, they'll trick ya! Glad you got it sorted. If you need help with the MIDI stuff, don't be shy. It's kind of my specialty!

No worries. It is a perplexing problem. I'm hoping that when OP solves it he'll get back to us with the solution.

Getting an error warning (for lack of a better term) when importing a patch
rd2rk replied to Sixstringz80's topic in Helix
Yes. They might not sound bad, but they might not be what the creator of the preset intended. All of the vendors I mentioned have free or cheap intro packs. Try a few with your favorite amps and judge for yourself. "Good tone" is entirely subjective, and what I think sounds great might very well sound like lollipop to you. @brue58ski's suggestion about using the looper to audition IRs is the hands down best way to do it. -
Thinking that somehow I've missed this feature for the 3+ years I've owned my Helix Floor, I went over and pressed MODE and TAP at the same time - nothing. Did you somehow confuse HXStomp and Helix? On HXS, if you press the upper and lower knobs together, you get whichever Bypass Mode you've selected in Global Settings>Preferences.

Because you said you've been successfully using 4cm for years, I didn't suggest it, but check your cabling and the integrity of the individual cables. Unless something in your Helix suddenly up and died, there's no other reason I can think of for your problem.

I found Steiberg's "support" to be less than stellar even before Covid. If ASIO4All doesn't fix the problem, trying one of the suggested DAWs is another FREE troubleshooting method to eliminate or confirm Cubase as the culprit while you're waiting for Stenberg. You don't have to abandon Cubase - unless, of course, Steinberg never gets back to you or can't solve the problem.
-
And easier than trying a different DAW. But if it doesn't do the trick, the three DAWs I mentioned are all FREE!

The "joy" of using Windows is that there's an infinite number of possible hardware and software combinations and configurations, but it makes troubleshooting a nightmare! The limitations imposed by the Apple ecosystem are a major selling point for those who prefer a turn-key solution.

"Imagination...is funny....it makes..a cloudy day sunny...." :-) (1940 - Music by Jimmy Van Heusen, Lyrics by Johnny Burke. Recorded by everybody that mattered in that era.My personal favorite by The Quotations - 1960) The post by the_bees_knees22 (and my own experience) would seem to point more directly at Cubase as the probable culprit, but hey, if ASIO4ALL solves the problem, GREAT!
