  1. Currently, for bass, SVT Bright. For higher-gain lead guitar, 5150. For higher-gain rhythm, Engl Fireball 100. For clean semi-acoustic simulated, Fender Bassman Bright.
  2. It looks like a new Helix app will likely be required with the new firmware, or certainly when the editor is released, which is actually part of the Helix app. If you take a look at the files in the 'EdLibResources' folder, and in particular the 'amp.models' file, the new Matchless amp is not in there.
  3. Shouldn't be a problem. Just remove the screw from each rubber foot and screw it back in the housing.
  4. You could try and decrease the sweep range. Instead of 0 to 100, maybe try 20, 30, or 40, to 100. That way the sweet spot has more share of the range. But doing this might alter the wah's character somewhat.

    Creaking pedal

I don't notice anything like that on mine. But now that you've lubed it, adjusting the tension is much easier, but still very, very limited in the amount it can be adjusted. I've noticed that if it's a fraction of a millimeter too loose, the pedal itself is too loose and will feel floppy. The only other thing is, there's a rubber stop screwed onto the bottom plate with two screws, that stops the pedal moving in the heel position.

    Creaking pedal

Taking the bottom plate off Helix to fix the expression pedal is very simple. You don't need a degree in mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, etc. Also doing so will leave no indicators that you actually have done so. I wouldn't recommend anyone do this unless they're comfortable with the idea though. But I also see no reason why someone should go through official channels for something like this. It wasteful of both time and money. Ideally, at least in my mind, Line 6 should post some official instructions for fixing this manufacturing oversight. All that's needed is a little lube on the surfaces that are perpendicular to the long bolt that holds everything together.
  7. How are you monitoring? I record via USB but monitor everything that passes through Helix with the spdif, which seems to have a quite low volume compared to the other outputs. I have Helix's master volume set at max, but I do have the volume of the device the spdif signal is going to turned fairly low. If I plug some headphones directly into Helix, low impedance, Helix's headphone volume control is barely turned up at all, with an almost too loud volume. I don't monitor the USB because of latency.
  8. I remember reading it was going to be shown at the namm show. Possibly being released around the end of this month. But I haven't heard anything at all about it yet. There seems to be an almost singular, collective focus on the new amp (for the next Helix update).

    Univibe settings

Same here. Just a very, very subtle coloring of the tone with these settings: intensity: 3.5, chorus mode, lamp bias: 2.5, mix: 35%. I guess the over the top pulsating it's capable of has its place, but I don't care for it much.

    Global eq ?

I'm actually not sure. The current version of the advanced manual is Rev. A. That came out before version 2.60 of the firmware, which is the first to have the global EQ. So it wouldn't be in the manual. But I just looked at the downloads for the HD500X, and the instructions involving the global EQ are in the firmware release notes.
  11. Really really really glad to see an auto-filter in there. Awesome! Let's hope it's as flexible as the rest of Helix is.

    Global eq ?

Hold View until system menu comes up Right Arrow until page 11 Enter button to toggle on/off
  13. I just tried with a EP1-L6 on EXP3, with all the flangers on a new patch, using the Learn Controller method. Worked fine. However, once it's already assigned, with min and max values, and you use the Learn Controller again, yes, it resets the min and max to zero. It seems like that's intentional behavior to me.

    IRs 2048 vs 1024

Found the post I made, in the FAQ thread, where I used Reaper to truncate an IR and this is the number I came up with: ~15ms. Anything below that is where you'll start to notice a difference, with the low end vanishing first. Now, I didn't try every IR in existence, but I did try a few, and every one, for the most part, had the same threshold.
  15. There's several of them for Helix, one by me. Haha. But I've actually gotten kind of used to the way it is now anyway. Until they release the editor and I start using that, which is going to screw things up again...
  16. Yup. It was tons of fun. Don't know if that's the exact plane, but it looks like it. They crammed about four of us into the back, no seats, and hardly any room at all, and one by one we had to crawl out on the wing and hang off the strut and let go. Wwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!
  17. At least I'm not the only one that finds this backwards. About the best you could do is put tape with opposite markers over the existing markers, perhaps fooling your brain.
  18. Well, then I guess I'd have to change my mind after the fact, and if possible, retroactively. For the type of stuff I play/write, I don't really need an extensive palette of amps. Every time I go to make a tone, the end results are really quite similar, regardless of what I choose to use. I find effects much more useful. I know I'm in the minority on this though.
  19. As long as there's an auto-volume swell, or even better, a tweakable and assignable envelope filter, and some other filters, and some more phasers, I'll be ecstatic. Nine new effects can cover a lot of ground. Really excited. Don't care much about the amp. I'm one that's completely satisfied with what's already in Helix.
  20. That's certainly good to hear. Look forward to it, and the computer editor.

    IRs 2048 vs 1024

There likely won't be much difference. I remember trying in a DAW cutting off the samples until I noticed a difference. I don't recall the sample number where that was, but it was low, much lower than 1024. And the first thing to go is the low end.
  22. I've noticed Frank Ritchotte, Senior Director of Operations for Line 6, often posts at TGP, but never here. There's a conspiracy going on!
  23. The mid-focus starts at around 6:55. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLkVhOp5FCY
  24. From what I've read, version 1.05 is what's on Helix Rack, and version 1.06 brings that and the floor unit into sync.
