I'm sure you're not the only one. I'm one that just says, eh, about wireless remote control. If they did it, it would have to be wifi because they said there are a lot of parameters to sync up and blootooth would be way way too slow. But I suppose they could have made a usb host interface on the device, and then an addon wifi usb stick type of thingy. Probably would have jacked the cost up a bit. Touch screen, I think, would be clunky with a device like this. People's big hands and fat fingers might get in the way of seeing exactly what's being adjusted. The computer software is where it's at for me. I hope they do a really good job on this too. The possibilities for extended control beyond what the device's interface can do can be increased greatly. I like the idea of the rack version, since it would sit in a studio setting all the time, but it just might not be worth an extra $500 plus ~$100 for an expression pedal. Plus, the controller for the rack version I've noticed has a damn wall wart!

But you could, depending on dsp, have four, serial, stereo tones in one preset? So the 1A, 1B, 2A, and 2B nomenclature is more of way to describe how the processors are delegated?
-
Why do I keep thinking of the South Park episode with Al Gore when I hear those words? I thought there are four stereo paths?
-
Wow. Sounds like you guys really squeezed as much as possible out of this. Awesome. Speaking of templates, I know I've heard you can copy and paste blocks, which is great and will be a big time saver. Does that function extend to entire presets? Will the pc/mac software go further and allow for setting up defaults for fx blocks and amps, naming them, and being able to select them from a favorites list instead of a static list?

You started losing your evilness there for a second.

Can we take this as meaning something for the future, or maybe just a slip of the keyboard?
-
If you really like this stigma, we could all work together and when someone votes you up, someone else will vote you down. The upside is that you'll be the most stable incarnation of the devil that ever walked the earth! With all that time you'll have, I'm sure you have eons of Evil planned for humanity. Hmm. Your screen name too. It looks suspiciously close to something when you change the letters around. SATAT? SATAR? SATAD? :o

Exactly this. Imaging would be the easiest. I'd imagine you could also dual boot, but might take more effort. You could even run win 10 in a virtual machine to try. Or if you have a spare hard drive lying around, and don't want to mess with your current one at all, just swap them.

I think I've read that it's similar to what's on the unit itself, but is the application interface scalable?
-
If you're going to give things away like that, you're spoiling the fun... :)

You could probably use a resource editor to change the picture. It's a PNG file.

Another MIDI question. Can the device be controlled by a DAW, USB-to-MIDI?
-
The AX8 is something different than the FX8, which is effects only.
-
Sheesh. Just the little bit of reading after finding out about this, and I already know it is inevitable.
-
Looks awesome. Also likely, a direct competitor for the new AX8.
-
Give Reaper a try. Or RiffStation.

I can hear that the base tone sounds very similar, but not enough info is given aside from the amp used. They sound different enough that it's obvious the cab/mic used are off from each other.

The single biggest thing that makes me want to upgrade to Win 10 is proper UI scaling. If you have a monitor with high DPI, which are becoming more and more prevalent, Win 7 really sucks at this. I've heard at least Win 8.1 does this right, but all the other negative things I keep hearing about 8.x just makes me keep saying eh, maybe tomorrow. It's certainly good to know that the Line 6 stuff works on 10.

Looks like the only solution is the one you already discovered: each patch has to have the correct midi info programmed. There is no global midi options except for assigning the midi channel and midi out or out/thru.

Depending on the music you're playing, don't bet on the guitar, or yourself, not physically hurting you. Happens to me all the time. The most notable injuries would be sliced fingertips and muscle knots in the neck, shoulders, or just about anywhere, as a result of unconscious contortions. Recently, I suspect I might have even fractured one of my fingers. Not sure how, but it hurts bad and prevents any decent, focused playing sessions. It's good to work on your physical self-awareness in space, which is normally automatic behavior for most things. As others have said, mix things up, and even take a break for a day or more if you can, just as you discovered. It's a good habit to get into. It's a lot like running. If you run every day, you might find it becoming harder and harder to run the same distance. But take a day or two off, then the next time you run you find, amazingly, reserves of energy you didn't think you had. Guitar playing is a lot like that. Taking a break makes things fall into place much better.

Glad it helped out.

You can do this. Take a look at appendix B, page B2, in the advanced user guide. It gives the CC#s you need to control the expression pedal for EXP-1 (CC1), EXP-2 (CC2), as well as the EXP toggle (CC59). You'd also have to design your patches with the values you want controlled in mind. So an example would be connecting the mix and decay of a reverb to EXP1. The expression pedal heel down position would be one setting, toe down another. Then change the value of the expression pedal (0-127) from Cubase. Here's a video that's explains how this can be done: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avuSgdYt2Z4

I think you'd be hard pressed to find exactly where this info comes from. It's written by someone who owns a POD, with keen observation skills, knowledge about guitar systems in general (real or modeled), and an ability to write an easily understandable and concise guide. The actual info probably comes from those things and I would guess even these forums. So there is no single official source he gets that info from.

That actually sounds like something else. A crash occurs when using the POD's ASIO drivers in Reaper and the POD loses power, but if your internal sound card (motherboard? or add in?) stops working when you turn the POD off while Reaper is running, I'm not sure at all what that could be about.
