  1. 1. Using input 1 and 2 the same effectively doubles the signal the pod has to work with. Could be good, could be bad. Depends on the tone you want to build. Medium to low gain might benefit from setting input 2 to something not in use. Same for cleans. Higher gains might benefit from both the same. Also depends on what you think is best. 2. No best here either. From lowest to highest, it affects the higher frequencies either less or more. Lower settings muffles or suppresses these frequencies much more than the higher settings. Noticeable but subtle. 3. If you mean adjusting the global EQ on edit, you can't.
  2. I can't answer the first question. Never used the L6 Link. The global EQ outputs on all except USB and L6 Link.
  3. I've heard of people putting a rubber band under the overhanging part of the switch, restricting depresses. Easily removable too.
  4. I actually find the line 6 stuff, which includes license manager, monkey, edit, and drivers, to be really benign as far as doing things to your system without your knowing.
  5. Not Djent, but here's some Steve Vai videos that trigger, at least in me, an autonomic laugh response every single time I watch them. The first one is better and used to be on youtube, but it appears not anymore: http://www.stsanders.com/www/pages/videos/guitar-shreds/steve-vai-shreds-in-denver.php https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nR_Z1VuDUQM
  6. The file you're looking for should be: Windows\System32\L6DriverControlPanel.cpl
  7. Check out some of this guys videos. Some are hilarious.
  8. Try tapping the view button.
  9. Indecision usually sucks for it's paralyzing effect. On the good side of things, because of the paralyzation, you won't make any decisions you'll regret...
  10. A while back I screwed around with IRs in the DAW with the HD500. The results I got weren't worth the extra complexity in the setup, so just dumped the idea. The pod's cabs were more than good enough for my wants. On top of the negligible results, the number of options open to you with something like this can quickly become overwhelming. So unless you know when to stop, or if you're not one to leave things untried -- like hundreds or thousands of IRs, it's best to not even start. Then again, maybe something like this might work for you. Try it out in the DAW. The plugin I used, I think, was Torpedeo Wall of Sound.
  11. So far, I've used the 5150 and the bass amps. Not to just try out and see, but to get tones I will use in a song. Those two amps alone, along with the 410 Rhino cab that accompanies the bass amps, made the purchase worth it for me. Line 6 has stepped up the modeling from what you get when you buy one of these devices.
  12. Just a guess, but most of the regulars would be older (40+?). Then there are people who kind of pass through. These might be younger. Again, just a guess. Almost 47 now, I used to gig with a cover band in the late 80s, early 90s. Just in the past several years I have gotten back into guitar playing and writing music. Was never into amps and pedals, or collecting them, etc. Way too expensive. Just had a power amp, cabinets, and some rockman stuff. The pods are my first encounter with digital modeling. HUGE step above what I had before.
  13. What does your signal chain look like? Are you using both paths? How is your inputs setup configured? What do the mixer controls look like? If you can, post a screenshot, or post the patch. There are some configurations where sound will still come through even though things are apparently muted.
  14. If you're on Windows 7: delete: user\AppData\Roaming\Line 6 Windows\System32\L6DriverControlPanel.cpl In the registry delete: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Line 6 and there's probably an entry under: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall But I'm not sure what this entry is as I don't use the install program for Line 6 stuff.
  15. If you use a single amp, you can also put the amp after the mixer to control the level via the mixer going to the amp.
  16. I think the global EQ works for all outputs except USB and the L6 Link.
  17. I highly doubt Line 6 is going to spend any resources on this for the current pods. The devices weren't designed from the start to be able to do this. The best you can hope for with the current pods would be what you just suggested. But you'd be limited to how the pod can be controlled by midi, which is basically effect toggles and patch changes. There's some more it can do, but I currently forget. But being able to construct patches wirelessly on the current pods I just don't see happening. My guess is the next generation pods will have this functionality.
  18. You can assign multiple effects to a single footswitch, but not mutiple footswitches to a single effect, which would come in handy.
  19. At first, I cranked the resonance, with the thump increased quite a bit too. I liked the effect, it added a lot of body. But I had to change my mind because I was able to put res at zero and achieve the same full body, but with slightly better clarity and definition. Also, I noticed with the resonance cranked, there was a certain harshness present if listened to really close. I forgot precisely how I did this, but it was probably a combination of stuff: 1. Increasing the threshold slightly on the tube compressor before the amp. This seems to have the effect of the decreasing volume slightly but also increasing the apparent low end dynamics. 2. Changing the mid freq to the lowest setting (I think there's three, no more than that). This lowers the frequency. Not sure exactly what the frequencies are though. 3. Increased the mid slightly, and backed off the bass slightly.
  20. I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.
  21. Thank you for the quick comparison. A lot of things you mention about the pod I'm familiar with as well. I tend to ignore the EQs, so that's no biggie for me. The low and high end things you mention either I've dialed out to a certain degree (with no EQs), or learned to ignore.
  22. Also, the effect that is first in the chain will determine the state of the LED.
  23. I'm definitely glad I got the packs. I can't say I notice any hiss from these amps. Don't even use a noise gate. But I keep the drive fairly low at 30. These amps are also an instance where I put the resonance at zero. Briefly tried the the Shiva also. It was nice and might be a good replacement for the treadplate or f-ball.
