This can't be it because I haven't purchased any of the packs and the hd500 still doesn't allow rollback of usb firmware, but the hd500x does.

Also, if you had the tap tempo led turned off, it will now be on.

Yes. The on-board pedal. Thanks, did not know that. But it still can't be user modified.
-
1. The expression pedal can't be assigned user defined or modulated curves, it's only linear. 2. It has coaxial digital out, not optical. 3. The floor model doesn't have digital input. 4. It's got a wall-wart. 5. It doesn't have a network interface. 6. And because of number 5, it's not capable of streaming videos to my tv.

1. I would say they can. I did try all of my patches saved (not created) on an hd500x with 2.62 and sent them to the same device with version 1.32. No problems. The instance with edstar1960's patch generating an error is probably isolated and may be due to a bug. And the specific cause is still unknown. 2. Who knows? I find it really odd that it's not there to begin with. Makes me wonder why?

A little further information. Just updated my hd500 to 2.62 and successfully sent edstar1960's setlist without error.

Yep. I get that error after trying to send the setlist. I noticed that quo double amp didn't get sent so I tried selecting it in hd edit which brought up an error about DSP. There's something about that patch, so try removing it from the setlist and then sending that setlist to the device. See if you get an error then.

Interesting. It seems rolling back the usb firmware is an HD500X "exclusive" feature. Just tried on my hd500 and you're right, it's not possible.

You can rollback the usb firmware. I'll try loading this setlist on my hd500 today sometime, version 2.32, never updated to 2.62. I just tried loading this setlist on my hd500x, 2.62, and no problems. I might try downgrading to 1.32, but keep usb 1.04, and load it again to see what happens. Just downgraded my hd500x to 1.32 (did not keep custom patches), kept usb at 1.04, did global reset, pedal calibration (this took 7 tries to get right!), then loaded your setlist into user1 with hd edit 2.26 and sent. No errors. Tried user2. No errors. User3. No errors. Just tried on my hd500. The problem is one patch: "Quo Double Amp". It overloads the DSP.

Just an idea to throw out there. What was the state of the global eq (on/off) when you saved each of the setlists under 2.62? Different or the same for both?

I always have the signal chain view selected.

I've gotten this error recently on my hd500x with version 1.32, prior to doing any further updates. I'm still not sure what caused this or specifically what I did to solve the problem, but I remember doing multiple global resets and pedal calibrations, and switching the usb from a usb2 port to a usb3 port on the computer. Haven't had any problems since... All the patches I have made seem to be working correctly.

I encounter this occasionally, on version 1.32, and the newest 2.62. This topic has come up before and most people seem to think it is a physical problem with the switches. It could be, but I'm not really convinced of that. For one thing, this only happens when switching patches, never when using the same switch to toggle an effect. If it's a physical problem, a solution might be taking some contact cleaner to the switches and/or trying to straighten a twisted spring. But now you're talking about taking the pod apart.
-
I have this problem from time to time. Just yesterday I started using the pedal with a pitch glide effect and it wouldn't go to zero. This is very noticeable if it's even at 1. It was fine a few days before that. It took a couple of recalibration tries to get it right. So keep trying recalibration, eventually it should work. You could also try slightly tightening the allen-bolt on the pedal and then calibration, sometimes that helps. This is certainly an annoying aspect of the pod at best.

I believe the HD Pro has some outputs that the floor models don't have. So it could be encountering that. Take a look at the sticky at the top of the forum about the conversion utility.
-
In the meantime of waiting for the new port, you could disassemble the pod and splice a usb cable to the usb port to see if you could get it working that way; if you have an extra usb cable lying around anyway. I would guess things like the usb port are beyond the choices engineers have. Someone in their department probably said to use this one because its cheaper (this stuff adds up on mass produced stuff). If engineers had their way a lot of the time, for products like this, you might get something of the quality of fractal products.

As long as each effect has a mix parameter, you could assign each of these to either EXP1 or EXP2. Or you could assign each effect to the same footswitch. So if you have FS1 for this purpose, it would toggle all effects on/off at once. The easiest way would be to use the HD Edit software. The controllers tab allows you to assign things here, from footswitches, effect parameters, and min and max values if using the expression pedal.
-
If you can be a little more specific about what you're trying to do, that would help. Broadly, you can assign basically any parameter from any effect to either EXP1 or EXP2. So if you have a reverb at the end of the fx chain and want to control the wet/dry for that effect, you could assign the mix parameter to EXP1 or EXP2.

If the firmware update got as far as asking you to disconnect the power, it was likely successful. At that point, moving around or even disconnecting the usb cable wouldn't matter. But you're right that trying to update the usb firmware with a potentially loose usb connection could cause some strange behavior. The host computer's usb implementation could also be a factor. What makes you suspect a loose connection? If the option is available to you, try to get it working on a completely different computer.

Thanks for the most informative response. Something to think about instead of an upcoming modeler, either from Line 6 or Fractal's AX8 at the beginning of October.

Yep. It's a false positive. Turn off the av when using monkey, or create an exception?

I liked the tone from the first half, the 5150. It's somewhat bright sounding, but it's also has a unique grittiness to it, which is what I like. The second half, the mesa, seems a little too distant and dark, doesn't sound like it would fit well in a mix. Did you get your bass back? By the way, how do you know when it needs re-fretting? The frets on my jem are visibly dented, but still works ok.

How to make a good sounding Distortion on a Fender amp?

That's what the Tube Compressor was modeled from. -
Definitely look forward to that.
