  1. The closest stand alone effect for an auto wah would be the tron up or tron down. Curious about what your workaround for an auto wah is?
  2. You don't indicate which pod you have, so this will be for the bean, hd500(x), pro(x). With the pod turned on, load up the edit software. Select the setlist you want the file loaded into. Load the setlist from the file in the editor. Then hit the send setlist button.
  3. No other way that I know about. As you say, you need a pc/mac and a previous save of the patches, setlists, and/or bundle. And if you do a global reset, there's no way to get the system settings back to what they were other than manually.
  4. No. The only feasible way would be to take the output of the 12 volt supply and make it 9 volts with externally added circuitry. The pod wouldn't be very happy with 12 volts.
  5. What everyone else said so far. Plus, the thing I've found to have the most effect on tone, after choosing the correct amp for the task, is your choice of cab and mic. Takes some time to try all the variations. Some of time is because there is just so many combinations, and some more time has to be devoted to taking breaks because of ear fatigue.
  6. Does the M13 have an internal power supply? Maybe that's the reason for the switch? I hope the next gen floor hd has an internal supply.
  7. How about a recessed power switch, along with a recessed power jack and usb jack with built in strain relief.
  8. Set a bookmark once you're on the forum you want to read. Never even visit the Line 6 main website. The forum software does have some quirks, though. Like quoting not working in IE11. And the font for typing messages is horrible. But that could be my eyesight as well.
  9. Try putting a pitch glide somewhere before the amp, set the mix to 100%. Then assign the pitch parameter to either EXP1 or EXP2, with the min and max values at -12 and 0, or 0 and -12, depending on how you want pitch down to operate. That is, the detune will occur with the pedal in the heel position with a min value of -12, or it will occur in the toe position with a min value of 0. The manual contains better detailed instructions for each of the actions outlined above. Just noticed this: If you do this directly on the device, the min and max value range are from -24.0 to 24.0. But if you use the hd edit software, the min and max value range are from 0% to 100%. A little bit of an inconsistency. So in the case of percentages, you'd use the ranges of 25% (min) to 50% (max) or 50% (min) to 25% (max). This would be for an hd500x. Not sure how this works if you have an hd300 or hd400.
  10. Fargo was an awesome show. Can't wait for the next season. The Strain. Ahh! Vampires! Silicon Valley is absolutely hilarious. Same with John Oliver. Someone mentioned Burn Notice, there's a new series starting this summer from the same producers called Complications.
  11. House of Cards was good. But for the third season F.U. seemed to have lost most of his F.U.ness. Another good one on the same channel as The Walking Dead was Halt And Catch Fire. Brings back some memories. Along the same lines of The Walking Dead was Revolution, where the power grid was shut off by evolving nanotechnology, lol. The atmosphere of that show reminded me of the original Fallout computer games, 1 and 2, minus the humor.
  12. Echoing silverhead, thank you for using your precious time to construct such a valuable guide for the pods and fundamental concepts for guitar tones in general.
  13. You shouldn't have to set up anything on the pod itself other than plugging the midi cable (output) in the pod's input port. In Reaper I have to set the midi hardware ouput, indicating the midi device, on the track that will contain the midi data. Something similar in Cubase?
  14. I found this forum to be really tolerant, of both respecting others' opinions and for allowing discussions like this to go way off topic. Good points about technology and fading traditional beliefs. The beliefs of older generations being slowly phased out is probably something that's occurred throughout history. But with the introduction of technology - and technology itself growing at an exponential rate - that really speeds up the phasing out of the old. On top of that, now nearly everyone has the opportunity to announce their thoughts to the entire world (not that the entire world hears it though). And the potential for becoming a self-proclaimed expert is greatly increased. Well, that comes at humanity's own peril when large populations start to ignore the actual experts. And this could very well be one of our greatest downfalls. In a sudden grid shutdown (hmm...revolution?) people who have agricultural skills would fare well, and benefit the continuance of humanity. That is if the people who give in to fear and violence don't shoot the farmers and steal their food and land. And this is the category of person who would see the experts as walking conspiracies - in fact they would probably blame the experts for a sudden grid shutdown. But not to worry, these fear and conspiracy ladened people just happen to be experts themselves at farming. Hooray.
  15. You sir, have probably done more than a hell of a lot of people can claim. Thank you. Most definitely. And when the time for critical mass is here, it's obviously not going to be a switch-flip. It's going to be a slow, slow, slow process. And one in which homo sapiens sapiens will adapt. But it won't be a nice time to be alive in human history. And in the meantime, I'm sure there is plenty of other stuff to worry about. I always thought it might be interesting for the planet to be hit by a gamma ray burst. That would be something humans can relate to for its instantly gratifying nature. The root emotion for all of this is fear, and a particularly insidious form of it is when it's used to control others. At one time, fear may have been a useful evolutionary device. But now, it seems to do more damage than good to a civilization. I wonder how long it will be before evolution discards it. If there's one thing to apply a sense of instant gratification to, it's gotta be the elimination of fear.
  16. A good question is how close are we to the 60 minute threshold? I mean in about 4 billion years the sun will basically swallow the planet earth. That's a long time. So if we're at 55 minutes, how does that equate in terms of human lifetimes and not time spans relating to evolution? Does 5 minutes equal 100 years? Or less than 1000? But the brutal reality of numbers and mathematics remains.
  17. The first thing that popped into my mind is Pink Floyd for some reason. Some interesting harmonies in there. I like the use of delays for creating emergent harmonies like this. Cool. Instead of the bass octaver, you might try the pitch glide. I remember a while back that the bass octaver, for purposes of simulating a bass, always had some of the original unshifted signal preset that I couldn't dial out.

    Reverb

I find the reverbs to be completely usable. When I first got the pod, I didn't think much of reverbs other than they all sounded fairly similar to each other. But over time, and after listening carefully to each of them, they all have slightly different sounds. Some have a little more clarity on the front end, like the springs, and some have a wider field at lower mixes, like the tile or chamber. Some, like the hall or chamber, affect the harmonic content on higher gain patches. The room reverb is a good replacement for early-reflections. Crank up the mix and decay on some, especially the cave, for pretty good ambient, spacious mixes. My favorites have become the hall or chamber. I used to like the springs for their clarity, but now I don't because they have a sort of ice-picky/ringing high end quality. Turning down the tone compensates for this somewhat. The springs also use a lot of dsp. For a little more clarity on the original signal for the reverbs other than the springs, you can increase the pre-delay a little bit. You can get pretty much anything you might be after. How they sound compared to other, more expensive modelers or expensive dedicated reverbs? Don't know, never really used them.
  19. Well, that's really useful information. Finally some real data about what these parameters actually do. I, and I'm sure lots of others, will be looking forward to the detailed data. Thanks for doing this.
  20. I guess the best way to know would be to actually try it. Unless you want to find out first in the case of not having some of the necessary cables. I use the hd500x's spdif output to a coaxial-to-optical converter, then to a discrete computer sound card, and finally into Reaper. For this setup, I've never had to mess with or worry about clocking masters. I just set the output sample rate of the pod's system menu to 48KHz. It's a very simple setup that works with no unnecessary middle-man devices. Less actual physical devices for me means more focus on music. However, it looks like you have a bit more complicated setup. An advantage of spdif vs aes/ebu? Not absolutely sure, but my guess would be no advantage to either. They both transmit the same data, but the methods are different. Also, I remember reading somewhere that spdif if the "consumer" version of aes/ebu.
  21. Thanks for doing this. It makes me rethink my reluctant use of putting EQs after the mixer.
  22. I do the same thing arislaf does. I use the pitch glide set to +12 pitch, and mix is assigned to the expression pedal with values 0 to 75. You can hear an example of how this sounds in my song Prime Vinculum (about 1:30 in).
