  1. I've noticed some strange behavior from time to time when trying to use the tempo sync. Never found any pattern or solution except to not use the temp sync. The only thing I can think of is something with the BPM setting. Is the correct value being saved with the patch? If you're working with HD Edit: 1. Enter the value in HD edit first 2. Set the BPM on the unit itself (in the system menu) 3. Save the patch in HD Edit 4. Switch to another patch 5. Switch back to the original patch. That's what I do to make sure the BPM is saved in a patch when you have the Inputs Setup set to preset.
  2. If you're not using the expression pedal for anything, and want to control two states of one or more effects, assign one set of parameters to the exp pedal min, and another set to the expression pedal max. So that would be like having two different distortions. And if you also have a reverb and delay, you can also assign two states of those effects, tied to the min and max of the distortion. You could still toggle each effect with the switches. Or you could have the mix of a reverb zero at min, essentially turning it off, and something else at max. My head starts to hurt thinking of the combinations this presents...
  3. I just tried this with success. I used [ media ]youtube link[ /media ]. That's it. You can also do this on your signature.
  4. I find this to be somewhat of a problem with clean tones and the selection of compressors, especially if you're not used to playing clean tones. You could try and isolate the offending, spiking, frequency (assuming there's a consistent frequency that's spiking) by trying a parametric EQ after the amp. Set a low gain, high Q, and mess with frequency knob until the spikes aren't as bad or maybe even go away. This might result in too much of a tone change though, I don't know. Try the tube compressor after the amp. Try the single input approach, by setting input 1 to your guitar, and input 2 to something you're not using, like variax, aux, or mic. This will lower the input signal the pod has to work with by about 6dB. Mess with the resonance, thump, and decay cab DEP controls. If you set resonance to zero, thump and decay are effectively neutered. I've noticed thump can sometimes cause spikey signals on clean tones if too high. Lower the guitar's pickups, or try the pad switch on the pod? Not sure the HD desktop has one of these. Maybe one or a combination of these ideas will help.
  5. Use the button next to the font dropdown. Then on the popup select media and paste in the youtube link. Alternately you could just use [ media ]youtube link goes here[ /media ]. Remove the spaces next to the brackets.
  6. My guess would be the tone from Blizzard of Oz? Sounds pretty good to me, but maybe in place of the graphic eq at the end, try the Q filter with HP, low frequency ~5%, wide Q (low percentage), zero gain, and a pretty high mix 80-100. Just have to mess around with the settings to your liking. The Q filter gives the tone a kind of parked wah type of sound. I would also decrease the left path volume slightly, about 2dB, using the mixer. One last thing, if you want to save a little bit DSP, since this patch is right at the limit, you could change the reverb to something else. This might open up the not unused FX block for something additional. But overall, it sounds really good. Nice work. Forgot to mention I tried this patch using headphones and evolution pickups.
  7. At minimum, you'd want something listed here. I use a cheap one with an HD500X and Reaper with no problems. Then take a look at appendix B of the advanced user guide for the specific information about CC#s, PC messages, etc. Not exactly sure what Click Tracks is or how it might affect your DAW's use of outgoing midi messages, but you'll also have to figure out the actual sending of midi from whatever DAW you use.
  8. You can only assign an effect to one switch, but one switch can have multiple, different effects. Being able to assign a single effect to more than one switch would be useful though.
  9. I understand that the ported models don't have pre-amp only versions, because there is no corresponding amp with the pre suffix. But what you're saying is that when these models were originally created, some form of power-amp modeling/creation/invention took place. So saying that these amps lack a power-amp stage, or calling them pre-amps, is incorrect? It is just hidden from view, and can't be separated like the hd models?
  10. Confused again. So just because there are no DEP controls, doesn't mean that these ported amps (converted from earlier tech) have no simulated, or invented, power amp? I'll try an answer my own question by saying that based on how little DSP these amps use, there is no power-amp section, hidden from view or otherwise.
  11. I'm absolutely loving this new amp model. I don't use EQs with it, or even any distortion in front of the amp, just a tube comp. My suggestion would be try a dual configuration, both amps with same settings, with the exception of maybe the drive and channel volume. And then just pick out a cab(s) and mic(s) combination that you like. Finally mess around with the cab DEPs.
  12. Unlikely, but possibly a dead or dying 3.3V battery on the motherboard?
  13. With the pre-hd models, on an hd500x, I'm able to do two of each, and likely in any combination of two, along with: 1. noise gate 2. tube comp 3. tube drive 4. phaser 5., parametric eq 6. stereo delay, digital delay w/ mod, analog delay w/ mod, auto volume, multi-head delay 7. spring reverb (or even octo) 8. spring reverb (or even octo) So it seems like the pre-hd models are really, really light on dsp, somewhere around 20-25% at most. A little confusion about the pre-hd models. Do these amps have power amp modeling? Because there are no power-amp DEPs for any of these amps.
  14. If we're looking at the same estimation, full hd amps use ~ 40%, maybe less in some cases. The pre versions use ~ 35%. So, the new Line 6 amps ported from older hardware would be somewhere in the range of 30% to 35%, since they don't model the power amps. Dual amps I would assume take twice as much as a single amp. But one thing I've noticed with some of the new hd amps is that the modeling is really good and adding all kinds of EQ or other finessing effects seems unnecessary. Maybe it's similar for the Line 6 offerings. Haven't yet tried them myself.
  15. A lot more could be done with just the edit software, including making the EQs in dB and Hz. And it can't be that hard to read the inputs and outputs of each fx block. One thing is for sure, each block has an input and output, done via software -- they aren't there magically, someone had to program the fx block structure. But they should at least fix first what they broke since the latest updates.
  16. I also like to use the same amp dually with different cabs and/or mics. Depending on the situation, I'll sometimes adjust the gain of one amp lower than the other, and also possibly the channel volume lower on one amp. I'll do this when I like an cab/mic combination that has a little too much fizz present. All the other settings I put the same.
  17. The one that is first in the chain controls the light.
  18. The entire forum has info about this topic, scattered about everywhere and anywhere. I don't think I've seen a concentrated topic on this though, for what people's personal tweaking habits are, and any tips that might be contained in that info. So here's what I do. For me, tweaking patches is a very dynamic process, but depends mostly on the song I'm working with, and how whatever it is I'm tweaking fits with whatever else is going on in the song. So often, it's not just tweaking one thing. It's tweaking multiple things at once, until I hear the bigger soundscape I'm after. Most stuff I do by what I hear, rather than finding specific frequencies to work with. Sometimes, boiling things down to numbers isn't very fun. I do everything with MP3s in mind, so no worries about the differences between live and not live. And while I always use headphones, I also check the results on multiple speaker systems, from cheap to mid-range quality.
  19. Maybe select the most neutral amp available to you, with the most neutral settings. Not sure which amp that might be though...
  20. Same here. Is there even such a thing as a good design for copy protection? I have yet to see one where It doesn't end up screwing a legitimate user in some way. They probably waste more time and resources on their current scheme than they potentially get back because somebody might steal a model pack. They should take those resources and spend the time fixing the current bugs in their software. By the way, I suppose it's possible that a windows update caused your problem, but just the other day I did an update and everything still shows fine in hd edit.
  21. This was exactly my thought as well. Does anyone know if model packs for previous products ever gone on sale like this? And if they have, what happened shortly after?
  22. I had the same thing happen when I first got the model packs and tried to use them with hd edit. For my situation, it ended up being a file called 'PODX4Edit.lang' in the 'res' subdirectory where the hd edit executable file resides, which was from an older version hd edit. As soon as I replaced this file from the latest version, 2.26, everything worked. Seeing that you reinstalled hd edit, that should have fixed it for you, so maybe something else is going on. But you could try replacing that file, and 'App.imb' in the same 'res' subdirectory, manually, by opening the install file with 7-zip and extracting them.
  23. Sadly, much of this kind of sentiment has disappeared from society. :( I wish I around, and old enough to understand its significance, to witness this event. But today, there are events just as awesome, if not more so, on a much smaller scale, literally. Though not as easy to relate to as a man stepping foot on another world.
