If that's the case, then it's a step backwards from the PODs...I've fiddled with it on the 500X, and it works for the most part, for 1/2 step down anyway. The bigger the drop, chords start getting messy.

OK, I'm jealous now...lol. ;) Very nice.

They could, but I'm not holding my breath. If they make it too much like Helix, they'll start to lose some of those customers who would have (however begrudgingly) upgraded to the pricier unit. They model seems to be to target very narrow demographics. There's Firehawk and Amplifi for the insta-tone/Bluetooth/app-driven crowd, HD series for the budget-minded tweakers, and Helix for the well-heeled tone chasers. Don't know of there's room in there for another product.

Are you sure you bought an amp? ;)
-
Amen, brother! Amen. Loud=good. More loud? More good! ;)
-
Perhaps...actually, I'd like to think that this is the reason. However, the "buy our new Thingamewhozitz 2000...it has more everything" philosophy is what our economy is built on. ;)

I'm forced to wonder what the point of having a frequency response outside the range of human hearing is...is it supposed to somehow be comforting to know that the frequencies are there, despite our inability to perceive them? Or is Sony after the much coveted whale and bat demographics?

When did "weird" become synonymous with "creative"? Just because something is one-of-a-kind, doesn't automatically make it noteworthy or useful. Sometimes weird is just that, weird. And how about the practicality of this device? Open flames in my studio? Thank you, but no. And who in their right mind would drag this thing to a gig? It's got "Oops..." written all over it. But what do I know, if they partner with the "Pet Rock" guy, maybe they'll sell millions...

Guitar players are never happy...gimme more of this, less of that, 6 of the other thing, and a tuna sandwich.

Now we're guessing at what features a nonexistent product might have? I'd love to take a stab at it, but it's time for me to run full speed into a brick wall. And after lunch I'm attending a symposium on paint colors for the bathroom in the first geodesic dome they're gonna build on Mars. But I'll check in later...;)

I have one L2T that I use as a floor monitor for smaller gigs, when we're all tucked into a corner on top of each other. For bigger stages when we're spread out a little more, I put it on a stand in the backline. Either way, it's plenty loud.
-
If I had that list of issues, with that many different products, I'd probably be shopping elsewhere too...I've had a bunch of L6 stuff over the years. L2T was the only thing that had a problem. Out of curiosity, what was wrong with the 500X's?
-
In my experience, "authorized service centers" leave a lot to be desired. If it already came back once with more problems than it had when you sent it out, I certainly wouldn't send it back to the same place. I had a similar experience with my L2T. It had the faulty, rattling fan assembly. There's an authorized service center 10 minutes from me...they had it for almost a month, replaced the fan (allegedly), and gave it back to me with the exact same problem. For repair attempt #2, I sent it back to the mothership. To their credit, L6 paid the freight the second time...but you probably won't manage to get that unless you actually get a human on the phone and go through the whole "I already tried to have this thing fixed once" routine.

I'm not implying that anything you said was unclear. I said you're asking an unanswerable question. There's only one person who can determine if the thing is loud enough or not, and thats you. And for what it's worth, 120 dB is at or near the pain threshold...so if this is your goal, this entire discussion is moot, because you will end up deaf as a post playing at those levels.
-
Yep, same everywhere though. Buy a new car...the only way you'll ever get the milage #'s they advertise is if you only drive downhill, with a constant 50 mph tailwind. ;)
-
Yes...but you're asking others to tell you if your rig "should be" loud enough based on a bunch of numbers which are nothing more than a general guideline for the set-up you describe. No one can answer that, because they're not standing in the room with you. The speaker is either sufficiently powered, or it's not...no matter what the spec sheet says, or conventional wisdom or other's experience tells you. If the gear is set optimally, and it still isn't cutting it, then either the other guy has to stop thinking that he's playing to a stadium crowd and turn down, or you gotta go shopping.
-
Trying to predict what should or shouldn't happen based on a theoretical discussion of amp settings is almost impossible. The amp will either be able to compete with this guy, or it won't. Obviously there's an issue...your band mate is drowning you out. Some 50W tube amps can melt concrete, and this guy likes to rattle the windows. Absurd volume doesn't make a band sound good. Tell him to turn it down a notch. It's either that, or you need to invest in something with more headroom so the dB cage fight can proceed. ;)
-
They all do... Expecting someone else's patches to sound the same for you is like ordering a 3 piece suit online, then being surprised that it doesn't fit like the custom-tailored one that's hanging in your closet...one brand's 42 long, is another's 76 extra fat (thank you, "Smokey and The Bandit"...credit, where credit is due ;) )
-
Marvelous. Because the world would be a better place if guitarists were all arguing over which brand of tea light and wick length produces the best tone. Don't miss their "Flints-Tone" line of pedal-driven rotary speakers.... Ugh.

Question about VDI + 1/4 inch out

"Bullet proof" isn't even bullet proof, "water proof" ain't water proof, and stainless steel really just stains LESS...c'est la vie. -
That's gonna depend entirely on the ability of the speaker in question. In that regard, FRFR is no different than a guitar amp. It's either loud enough, or is not...doesn't much matter what the claimed wattage is. If you have the master volume on both the POD and your speaker maxed out, there's nowhere else to go...generally not a good idea. Can't believe the limiter isn't kicking in. You're gonna blow the speaker eventually, probably sooner than later. I also find it baffling that this isn't loud enough, unless the goal is to be detected by the seismographs at Cal Tech... As for the channel volume and master DEP...those vary. Some models are inherently louder than others, so those numbers don't mean much. I leave the master volume on my L2T around 12 o'clock, and rarely need to go much past 11-12 o'clock on the POD's master volume...and it's plenty loud.
