Well you have to consider the source. This is the same guy, who in another thread repeatedly asserts that by waiting another month to buy your 500X, it will magically pop out of the box with the new firmware, plus all the new model packs, all for free. He's confused...I wouldn't put much stock in anything he has to say about release dates. He could be getting his info from tea leaves or a Ouija board for all we know.

Firmware is free. Always is. New amps are NOT. Doesn't matter if you buy it today, next week, or next year. If you don't want to believe that, then you will have to find out the hard way. No one is trying to mislead you here. If you already have the 500X, then just wait for the firmware to be released, same as everyone else...then either buy the new amps, or don't. We're all in the same boat. Waiting, or returning it and buying it again later will accomplish nothing.

In the tri-state area $340K might buy you a detached one car garage, on a postage stamp-sized piece of property, for which you'd pay $10K in taxes... -
Sorry man...but you're not gonna get the new models for free. Line 6 is never going to make new models available for free to some of their customer base, but not others. That would be marketing suicide. The base 500X is still the same unit. Either everybody gets a freebie, or nobody does.
-
That's probably true...but he seems to think that it will all magically appear in the box next month, lol. That ain't happening...new 500X purchasers will still be unboxing old firmware for some time.

I've got this image of a roadie handing a Tele to the guy from Slayer, and just getting a confused look..."What's this?", lol

You believe wrong, and will be disappointed on multiple levels. First, all the new firmware will get you is the global EQ, not the new models. The firmware is independent of the model packs. If you want the new models, you will have to pay for them just like the rest of us. Second, a month from now, the stock that stores have will be essentially the same stuff that's out there now. You'll have to wait a considerable, and indeterminate length of time for all the units with older firmware to get bought up before any new batches with the new firmware will ship. You could end up buying it a year from now and still not get the newest firmware. No guarantees about how long something sits in a warehouse, or a retail stockroom.

No thanks...but 'The Decimator' noise gate is amusing. Hope the name is trademarked, or some MMA dude will start using it, lol. :D -
I want my tickets answered before I submit them...if L6 cared at all, lol. :P

If the cheap ones are $60, the bulletproof version will cost ya $150, lol.

First generation anything is a crapshoot...don't care who's building it. And there's a lot going on in these guitars..."The more complicated the plumbing, the easier it is to clog the drain." - Capt. Montgomery Scott I'll be on the sidelines for a while...

Fresh look at stuff never hurts...plus you can never have too many toys. Why sell it all if ya don't have to? -
Acoustic guitar / how do you get a good tone thru an amp?
cruisinon2 replied to wilson69978's topic in POD HD
There are other options out there that won't set you back as much $$ as the Stagesource stuff...there are a number of other guys on here running other FRFR set-ups with good results. -

Acoustic guitar / how do you get a good tone thru an amp?
cruisinon2 replied to wilson69978's topic in POD HD
Unfortunately the short answer is, you won't...at least not without considerable amount of time (and probably more than a little luck) experimenting with a lot of EQ. Someone on here has links to some acoustic patches through one of the DT amps that he had success with, but I don't remember who it was. Perhaps he'll chime in. But with a different amp and cab, those are still likely to need some tweaking...may be a good place to start though. To really take advantage of the acoustic models you need an FRFR speaker. Traditional guitar amps have a rather narrow frequency response that will not do an acoustic justice, no matter what you do. If you were to plug a genuine acoustic electric into your amp, you're likely to experience much the same thing. It will end up sounding more like a clean electric than an acoustic. -

Unfortunately, there's no end in sight...eventually, a room temperature IQ will be the new "normal". -
Oh who cares if he has to spend the rest of his life in a room with padded walls? As long as you get an instrument that screeches like a f$&!?@ cat...

Not necessarily. Not all sets of 10's are created equal. Tensions will vary slightly from one brand to another. Just because it says 0.10-0.46 on the package doesn't mean that all the others in between are identical. And even if both G strings claim to be 0.18 (or whatever it is), one may be pulling an extra lb. or two of tension. Doesn't take much to throw off the set-up. Guitars are a pain in the a$$...lol

Tone is the least of your worries. I forgot to check that left handed/right handed switch once. Everything I played came out backwards, the Devil appeared...and it was a church gig. Old farts stroking out in the pews...total mess. They didn't ask us back...
-
No, no...you see, you have to "re-educate" yourself into thinking that its "normal". Then it will sound as if the heavens have opened just for you, lol. I'm sorry, but if you have to talk yourself into believing that something is awesome...it's not. :P But that's just me, lol. As always, it's all subjective, YMMV.

Now I want one...lol
