Lol... "Yeah... and I'm gonna find Jesus, quit drinking, get in touch with my feminine side, and we'll all meet right back here at half-past impossible." - Dr. Perry Cox

Well calculating the % increase of the retail price won't tell you much of anything...without knowing what L6's per unit cost is, as well as the wholesale price that the retailers are paying, there's no way to tell who's eating what... if any part of it is being absorbed at all. And the smart money says the only one getting screwed is the consumer. Everybody else is running a business. Why should they take the hit? It's not their doing, and the govt's pi$$ing contest with China doesn't make anybody's bottom line any less important than it was last week. I just found it a bit odd that the price was hiked an even $100 both times... that seems a little too neat and tidy. Wouldn't surprise me if there's some extra gravy in somebody's pocket when the dust settles. Who's pocket, I can only guess... but that's usually how the world works.

Oh well, it's a lovely world... glad I bought when I did. Fascinating that each new round of tarriffs works out exactly to a $100 increase... that's some really convenient math.
-
Tarriffs, as already mentioned... but it's not exactly sudden. Prices went up months ago.

I've never seen the words "twang" and "Les Paul" in the same sentence...;)

My HX Stomp can't keep up in a full band - why? :(

Global EQ is for making subtle tweaks for different rooms... not creating your tones. You'll never have any luck trying to use it as a primary tone-shaping tool. An EQ curve that works for crystal clean sound with single coils is not likely to make you happy for a patch with high gain and humbuckers. Your problem is not the size of the speaker. You just need to get more familiar with how to get the sounds you want. Modeling has a learning curve... and experimenting with combinations of amp/cab/mic models and EQ is the only way to get there. Everybody's secret sauce is different... which is why buying patches is a crapshoot, at best. You gotta do it yourself. -
The only reply you'll get is that there was a "bottleneck in shipping".... feel free to interpret that any way you like, as it could mean just about anything from "the trucking company is on strike" to "the machine that prints the shipping labels ran out of ink, Bob is the only guy who knows how to fix it, and he's in Vegas for 2 weeks". In terms of translating that into "when will I get my guitar?"...good luck. Solutions to ill-defined supply problems take indeterminate periods of time to filter their way down to the end user.... and since we have no idea what the problem actually was, trying to estimate a time frame for a resolution is rather pointless.

Not even close... I've had both units. The Helix is considerably larger and heavier than the 500X, and the bag for the 500X was a VERY tight fit even for the box it was designed to house... you'll never get a Helix in there. It was also an unbelievable piece of crap. All four zipper pulls were busted within a couple of months of use, and I needed a tub of Crisco and a running start to get that damn thing in the bag. The Helix bag on the other hand, is quite sturdy and has held up well. Plenty of room in outside compartments for cables, straps, strings, etc. That's what you need.

Well we're all full of $hit to an extent, yes... but entertainers have almost made it an art form of it's own, eclipsed only by politicians and TV preachers. Joe Average isn't a good enough actor to pull it off grand scale bull$hit.... most are lucky if they can get their significant other to believe they were "out with the guys/girls". ;)
-
No matter how good someone may be, I honestly can't recall a single utterance from anyone in the entertainment industry, on any topic, that was worth listening to... anything they say directly serves one of two things... their ego, or their wallet.

Not sure why I'm bothering to respond, as I don't think I can improve on the 3 guys who already beat me to it... but here goes: If you want to spend hours on end trying to get the editor to work again every time there's a firmware update, more power to you. I don't have that kinda free time...

If we were all robots interested in mimicking each other, sure...but even then it would still fall apart in practice. There are far too many variables involved. When the HX (or any other piece of gear) is the only common denominator between two rigs, any hope of tonal continuity from one to the other instantly goes up in smoke. Don't waste your time with Custometone.... the only thing you can bet on safely is that what a patch sounded like to me, is not what it'll sound like to you.
-
You listen and adjust accordingly... either the channel volume in the amp block, or the output block at the end of the chain. There's no magic feature that'll balance volumes for you.

Do you mean the rotating knob on the joystick, or are we talking about something else?

"Ready for the mix" is an enormous load of marketing bull$hit. The phrase itself is comical at face value. Which mix? Live? Studio track? They are all unique. Studio tracks especially... if they don't require some degree of post-EQ, it's just dumb luck. Not once have I ever actually seen that happen.

I'm pretty sure that's what he meant.

May or may not help, but it certainly won't hurt...

I loved The Twilight Zone...

Good luck. Opinions and subjective assessments of amorphous concepts like guitar tone cannot be "proven" one way or the other. There is absolutely no objective truth here, and there never will be... there's only what you like and what you don't like. No one will ever be "right". Ford/Chevy, tastes great/less filling arguments will be with us until the end of time...

This ship sailed long ago. It's a business decision, nothing more. There are two hurdles: 1) Only a small percentage of guitar players actually get on stage on front of an audience, thus creating the need for a wireless, and 2) Variax is hardly a household name. Until a significant percentage of the guitar playing world has one sitting next to their Strat and Tele, there simply won't be enough of a demand for a wireless for them to bother with the expense of developing one and bringing it to market... that might change one day, but till then it's a waste of resources.

5 minutes on YouTube will dismiss that suspicion. Check out Jason Sadites' channel. This is the only genuine "problem" you have at this point. It's not supernatural, it's trial and error. Reading descriptions of IR files, or having 10 different people swear on a stack of Bibles that "IR X" is the "best", is as useless as listening to someone try to describe the Mona Lisa. You have to throw caution to the wind and try some. Though it's tedious, boring, and often frustrating... there is no other way to get there. Waiting for the secret sauce to fall into your lap is not going to happen. A universal drag and drop solution does not exist. You actually have to do the grunt work. We all do... And just in case you were wondering, instant gratification won't happen with Fractal, Kemper, or any other modeler under the sun, either. There are thousands out there... Ownhammer, 3 Sigma, Redwirze, Celestion, etc etc. Check out their sites, try a few of the free downloads they offer. Auditioning a bunch of them is the ONLY way to tell if you'll like them or not. There's no divining rod for "good" IR's... your ears will make the decision for you.

I suspect most of these complaints come from obsessive over-analyzing of the solo guitar sound...subtle nuances that might be mildly objectionable under a microscope, that will vanish in a mix anyway.
