  1. Lol... can't wait to see how this one plays out.
  2. I don't get it either. Yes, the old HD Edit would run in "off-line mode", but to what end? You can't hear anything without the hardware, so what are you accomplishing? Arranging icons on a screen doesn't reveal a blessed thing... without audio, there's no way to tell if you've created a masterpiece or a plate of boiled crap.
  3. Trust me, you might think you want this kind of functionality... but you don't.
  4. Yes... you cash roll back to any version you want. Just select 2.71 in L6 Updater.
  5. Indeed...if delay FX didn't exist, The Edge would be selling insurance. ;)
  6. Read the update instructions. It is entirely normal.
  7. Because the Helix pitch shifting algorithm is not polyphonic. It may work passably under certain circumstances, with very simple parts...consonant intervals like power chords, etc... but for lots of stuff, it'll have trouble and won't track well. It's meant for single-note harmony lines, not detuning entire chords.
  8. If, you don't want to use an FX loop, then there's only one option: Guitar--->Drop--->Helix guitar in.
  9. Digital signals either arrive at their destination or they don't... the idea that one cable is "better" at transporting 1's and 0's than another is marketing bull$hit.
  10. No. If your patches are all gonna be identical with the exception of the delay time, then it will be a whole lot less work if you just get used to using the tap tempo with one patch. Otherwise there's no way around the copy/ paste edit dilemma you've described. As for the "exactness" you prefer... unless your drummer is playing to a click, that's out the window anyway if all your delay times are fixed...unless he's a human metronome, and those guys are few and far between.
  11. The exact same thought that drives nearly all of life's self-inflicted stupidity: "Couldn't happen to me"...
  12. How new? If you just bought it, take it back and get another one.
  13. EQ is EQ... the only difference between the global EQ settings and an individual EQ block in a patch, is the global EQ is applied across the board to every patch in the device. This is generally not the best way to go about dialing in your sounds, though. Global EQ settings that make one patch sound magnificent might totally destroy the next. Global EQ is really intended for subtle adjustments to different listening environments, not primary tone-shaping.
  14. Mine has been rock solid for 2+ years of gigs and rehearsals. But as rd2rk alluded to above, if the only place to get a BMW serviced was in Germany, and you live in North Dakota, you'd be better off with a Schwinn.
  15. OK...I don't want another rabbit hole. That better? ;)
  16. Not sure exactly what you did here, but if you had bypassed the power amp, you'd have gotten no sound at all... something has to drive the speaker(s). But regardless, when running into a traditional guitar amp, you don't want to use any cab blocks in the Helix signal chain... it's redundant. There's no need for guitar cabinet emulation when you're monitoring through an actual cabinet or combo... turn the cab blocks off in Helix, and that low end mud will go away. As for the rest... every time you switch to a different kind of output, headphones, studio monitors, large FRFR speakers, or a guitar amp, you're gonna have EQing to do. They are all different animals, designed for different usage scenarios. You'll never get the same patch to sound identical through all of them... and depending on the tone, sometimes the differences will be subtle, and sometimes it'll be night and day. It's the nature of the beast. Speakers are half your tone, if not more.
  17. Reef Naked would be an awesome porn name...
  18. Interesting...I fiddled with the demo version for a bit, and I have to admit that quickly creating my own custom IR's does have a certain appeal. And while it's not outrageously priced, I'd be paying ~$110 for the privilege of sitting for hours, endlessly fiddling with a brand new collection of adjustable parameters, wondering just how much "better" I could make it sound if I obsess over mic placement/combinations for just 5 more minutes...lol. I'm gonna have to pass for now...I'd never claw my way out of the rabbit hole. Cool toy though...
  19. I'd like this statement to be required reading for everybody who comes in here whining that Helix (or modeling in general) sucks after playing with it for all of 12 minutes. All in favor?
  20. You know what would really suck? A bug that opens a wormhole which keeps dumping you back 8 months into the middle of downtown Cleveland...
  21. Here's the thing though...3.0 can't be that far off. Just for the sake of argument, let's say it's a year out from now. What's the point of traveling back such a short period of time? I don't know about anybody else, but I'm not exactly salivating at the chance to relive last summer. I might go check out the Battle of Waterloo, or watch the aliens build the pyramids... hell, if you're gonna time travel, may as well go see something worth looking at. ;)
  22. This'll be good.... Maybe he's in the wrong forum...what's the over/under on the OP having purchased a Whirlpool dishwasher that just happens to be called the "Helix LT 3.0"? Either that, or Dr Bob is from the future...in which case, I'd like to ask for some stock tips. ;)
  23. Because they contain bug fixes. If none of the known issues have affected you however, then don't bother. Your choice... I've been waiting on something...hell, anything...to turn out perfect for 47 years, now. Let's all meet back here at half-past impossible, and see if it's happened yet. ;)
