Patience is the key :-) That and flat frequency monitoring...

Actually, I'm pretty sympathetic to the salespeople who have to help customers try out Helix. That could get complex pretty quickly, and I'm not too sure I'd want to be given that job. Although I suppose if I was, then I'd create a few solid but basic patches on the demo unit and get potential customers to use them. So Plexi, a high gain amp, Twin, Bassman, Matchless and a Mesa maybe. Rather than let people twiddle knobs and get hopelessly lost in a minute. Also, demo via headphones and FRFR to avoid confusion.

The manual does say that preamp models should be used when running into a guitar amp: It also stands to reason that you would not use the full amp model and cab model when running into a guitar amp power stage and cab. While I appreciate your frustration, you are doing a classic 'blaming the tools' and it's not a good look.

Unless / until the OP stops launching thread after thread and posts a detailed description of a specific patch it's a waste of time. In case the OP is unclear, then something like this: [Make of guitar and pickup used, if known] Hx settings example - *exactly* as the patch is ordered: [input: guitar; gate off; guitar in-Z auto] [Path A: pedal(s) with all settings listed; amp with all settings listed, EQ(s) with all settings listed] [output: Path 2 A: pan centre; level 0dB] Etc. Or post the patch to customtone and link to it in the comment. Whatever is easiest.
  5. These days I actually run the Helix L&R 1/4in outputs into a desktop Yamaha MG06 mixer and the headphones out from the mixer. So I can't really comment on your question directly. However, prolly just what cruisinon2 said: 250 ohm impedance is a bit too high, hence the volume drop. [EDIT:] Just tried headphones direct into Hx and its bordering on too loud at maximum output. I really wouldn't practice at this volume for long with headphones as I'd fear for me ears...
  6. Not a problem I have with the 80 ohm version. Otherwise, what DD said: you need do nothing - these are relatively flat response studio headphones that simply reproduce what the Helix outputs without colouring it.

And still not one single actual patch in detail. Trolling IMO.
  8. How about this approach, (sound clips and technical details helpfully provided by 'beninfin' at Gear Page) which simply uses the Hi Low Cut EQ block: As a big fan of the less-is-more (fewer blocks = better tone) approach, it's what I do (output to KRK studio monitors / Beyerdynamic Studio Pro 80 ohm headphones)

    What could possibly go wrong?
  10. Yet another thread from ddmilne in which he declines to post specific details about his patches and just complains.
  11. I don't. I think you've got problems with the way you are doing your patches.
  12. No, I should have written more carefully. The OP says that he's tried FRFR, this would be for that, or headphones assuming decent and studio flat response.
  13. What were your amp master volume and channel volume settings? Also, use a cab model for the time being or everything will sound awful, scratchy and harsh.
  14. I'd be willing to bet you are doing something wrong, somewhere. Amp master and/or channel volume cranked too high is a common one. I managed to get good, usable tones out of Helix in the space of an afternoon. Really good took a few weeks playing around (mainly with the signal path routing). Just watch a few of the videos phil_m linked. But you need to accept that in all likelihood, the problem is in the way you are approaching your patch creation rather than in Helix itself.
  15. Arf, arf. Yes, of course writing about reverbs is like dancing about architecture. But I think revans was only quoting the florid vapidities from the Strymon website.
  16. I'm curious - why do you need to reduce the unit dimensions? Serious and polite question. It's an unusual thing for someone to want to do.
  17. Good God it works. First time in a full week. Test post...
  18. OP is still too vague about signal chain for any real progress to be made here.
  19. I don't really understand this. How is Helix supposed to emulate your PA system? Also, what jbuhajla said: please describe your Helix signal chain: what model / cab blocks on Helix are you using? Where's your compressor block (if used) etc? I've found Helix *excellent* at reproducing playing dynamics so my guess is that it's something to do with the way your signal chain is set up.
  20. I've found this an ideal solution to running headphones, studio monitors and mixing in PC audio output (eg. backing tracks) with Helix.
  21. Interestingly, deleting all Line 6 cookies does not get rid of the 502 error but deleting the browser cache does. FWIW. [EDIT:] Replicated. Clearing the cache alone seems to be enough.
  22. Same problem - locked out of *all* forums for days with a 502 error. For some reason, despite clearing browser cache and L6 cookies only now this minute have I managed to get back in. No idea what is going on, but oddly reassuring to discover that it's not just me :-) I actually went as far as to open a support ticket with a request that what I assumed to be my unique problem was brought to the attention of the sysadmin here. Obviously not really necessary at this point...
  23. I was talking about me. On the thread that the mods deleted the previous day. Now perhaps you didn't see that before it disappeared but you still managed to misinterpret my comment and are persistently being rude about it. May I suggest chilling out a bit?
  24. This ^ ^ ^ ^ I should have mentioned that my speakers are on stands at either side of the desk.
