It's a wonderful piece of kit and you get free upgrades as well. You don't get that with nasal hair trimmers or those little vacs for doing the car. I got my Helix Floor last Christmas and I'm still happily playing with it (as well as through it) with no end to the fun in sight. I'll take whatever is given in v2.8 with appropriate gratitude :-) We are so lucky to have stuff like this.
-
You called? :-) Happy Christmas / whatever holiday salutation you prefer, to all.
-
Considering the OP's claim that he purchased all his gear from pawn shops, there's an irony here :-)
-
Weird thread.

Lowering the neck pickup may also tone down the flub. Also, be sure to try some of the cleaner amps - the Fender Twin, Deluxe, plus the Matchless (Matchstick), the Hiwatt (WhoWatt), MESA/Boogie Lonestar clean (Cali Texas channel 1) etc - YMMV but given what you are trying to do you might do better staying away from the high gain amps. OD pedals can tone shape and pare back the flub - try the Timmy (Teemah) and the Tube Screamer (Scream 808) as well as the KWB. You'll get there :-)
-
Have you tried the parametric EQ block toward the end of your signal chain, with low cut set to ~100Hz (or to your ears' preference)? That is a great flub-tamer, in my experience.
-
But why did Ben call it the Kowloon Walled Bunny (winning "OD effect name of the year" in the process)? [EDIT:] Okay, now I know :-) And of course... RTFL, I should /Yoda voice.
-
I hope everyone is okay, and nobody's property is damaged. Stay safe and good luck to all.
-
+1 I've come to love the Teemah.
-
If you set up a guitar tone with too much bass frequency it will get in the spectrum space where the bassist lives and sound crap in the mix. So use the Parametric EQ block to cut at 100Hz and 12kHz as a default, and tighten it up as necessary. And what Cruisinon said :-)

No worries, it was just an FYI :-) -

Danny mate, there's an unfortunate typo in the Distortion Models section. I think you meant 'Klon Centaur'. -
What jbuhajla said. Reverse delay has to be played like an extension of the instrument. It takes some practice to get nice results.
-
So now Hx is both muffled *and* fizzy... right. :-)
-
Weird. Never needed a noise gate with Hx. Obviously way too much HF in your signal, but it's never really been clear what you did or didn't do to cause this. Anyway, glad you've sorted out a usable rig eventually.
-
I do, but I can do better than handwaving :-) Have a read of this, and a listen to the audio clips. See what you think. I haven't used a cab block for high (or low) EQ cuts in a long while. FWIW, I find that the Parametric EQ provides a more musical sounding cut than the plain High / Low Cut EQ. Hope this helps - not that you seem in need of much help in the tone department :-)
-
Glad you got it working. The forum software is a bit... odd sometimes, so I wouldn't worry about it :-) Tidy demo that. I'm not the target customer for those pickups, but they do what they are supposed to do :-)
-
Only if you don't set the patch up properly. Guitar pad off with hot pickups, too much gain, ch vol too high, high eq cut in cab block when you should use a separate EQ block, poorly judged frequency for high EQ cut etc. Get it right and it will sound just fine - don't automatically blame the unit - assume it's you. Helix is complicated and it takes a bit of time to get the hang of it and nail those basic mistakes... Maybe also change the thread topic to solved now?
-
If I had the money, I'd have AX FX III, Kemper and Helix :-) You can never have too much quality tonecrafting kit, IMO. (Edit:) Should also have said sorry that the OP didn't get on with Helix, and hope the sale is quick, painless and for a good price.
-
80ohm DT770s give me good results with Helix.
-
IIRC that's more a tone thing than to do with stereo soundstage.
-
There you go - you've cracked it! When you get time, you might want to revisit your OD / distortion pedals if used, preamp gain, tone stack etc. It's pleasantly surprising just how good it can all get once the high cut is about right.
-
LOL :-) And: And: And: And: And: I'd hate to see you riled about something :-)
