  1. I have had my Firehawk for a few weeks, and for me there are a few main issues: - Bluetooth drops out, and if you switch apps on an android device (I am using another music app that will allow me to change the pitch of a song), it disconnects, and reconnects, so you have to wait. - Lag when switching between patches is too great to make the unit viable live if you have to switch between patches, the lag when turning effects on the top row, is jot as noticable, but that brings us tothe next issue..... - The top stomp buttons are hard to single out without stomping on the patch buttons below them, there is no "step", to increase their height like on other multi tier buttoned units. - In my opinion the # of allowable effects per patch is to low, and some of them too simple (example- only one type of eq, compressor, etc.) I definately like where this unit is heading, but for my purposes, I probably should have bought the HD500x, but still,it may be a bit too compex, something in between the Firehawk, and the HD500X would have probably served me better, maybe there will be a Firehawk FX PRO". Maybe one of you who are dissatisfied with your HD500X would like to trade me for my Firehawk?...... but let me wait till I try out the first firmware upgrade- lol!
  2. If that is so, I will sit on the fence for a day or two, and find out from user feedback if the firmware update is worth it. Thanks for your input Silverhead.
  3. Thanks for the info kimdrawlings- Did he say if your preset tones will stay intact? I have done a system reset twice, and lost all my presets both times- if it happens again after an update I may see if the Firehawk can actually fly.... out the window- LOL!
  4. http://line6.com/software/ choose firehawk FX on the drop down, then click go
  5. Searching for any news on a firmware update for the Firehawk, I see that Line 6 has recently put a updater for Firehawk online, I am optimistic a new firmware update will follow soon.
  6. Yeah - I always save to "my tones" - then populate my FH later- I never go direct after creation or altering a patch, as I may forget to save it to "my tones later"
  7. Got my Gator GK-2110 a few days back- Firehawk fits great in it- only thing that would make it better is if it had a document slot on the backside, so I could put my Galaxy Tab in it.
  8. use the effects loop with extra cables, once you start switching between your presets, it is easy to bring the db up and down(send), leave the mix at 50%
  9. I just found out how to do this on my firehawk. Just run a cable from the effects send to return and then change the db level once you enable the effects loop
  10. I plugged two cables into left/right send and returns, with the button between them on "stomp" mode, then turned on the effects loop, on the patch I was using, and the patch boosted very high with the db's at 0, so I brought down the send to -7, saved to an empty stomp button, and voila, a lead boost was born! I will probably use this on other effects as well, just to have an easy way of normalizing volume to set levels on patches to be the same without removing any of the characteristics. I had left the mix at 50%- Bringing it up decreases the volume. Thanks again Gshamusphoto!
  11. Nothing like that yet- one at a time, and it is a bit of a chore. Hope this gets addressed as It would be nice to load setlists, or dump all your presets for backup purposes.
  12. Yeah- I am gonna try it as well, although I think packing my Boss EQ around and plugging it into the FX loop will give me a bit more flexibility.
  13. You can save tones in any of the 32 banks (not just the user area) as jpmull said- just remember to save to hardware when you are finished moving, It is always good to make sure you have a backup of your patches in "my tones", as in the past, I have overwritten a patch on the Firehawk which I wanted to keep, and did not have a backup in "my tones" (as well as needing to do a full restore after my unit was bricked).
  14. There is nothing like that on the FH. There are a few ways you can do soething like that. (1) program the volume pedal for your patches with a specific range, with the upper being your "boost", while programming the other components of your patch based on the lower volume level you had set the range to.... or (2) choose an overdrive pedal, say the "HD overdrive, adjust te drive way down, and the output to where you want your boost to be....or (3) put an external pedal in the effects loop, say an EQ pedal, and stomp on it for your boost.
  15. Yes, I agree - probably the only practical use for the app in a live situation is to have the larger tuner screen, and possibly to stream canned music from the bluetooth device through the Firehawk and into the pa system between sets.

    firehawk

I have one, and I am still trying to work out the best way to run it. one thing you will notice is depending on what you hook up to, you will probably want the unit set on "line out" on the button the back- I find that gave the best sound, the "amp" setting just sounded too muffled.

As far as I know, there is no stand alone setting which will allow you to do this. Some of the effects - like delays, will allow you to pan over to one side, but this is not what you are looking for.

can you not just feed the individual lefts and rights out of the FH into the seperate channel inputs on your amp?
  19. I know what you mean- the quest for a good all around floor board which balances simplicty and good tones is why I got the Firehawk. I can see the potential, but it may take some time to wait out firmware updates, and I need something now.
  20. Update: I performed the factory restore, and from what I can see it is performing just like it came out of the box- with all my patches deleted. I know it seems crazy, but I think one of the patches I downloaded from the cloud screwed up my Firehawk. I think the patch is she ain't pretty from the author: wanerb. As you can see by the video, that is one of the patches I am using whien I am doing the test. I did not have it saved to my tones, so for my steps to restore my Firehawk to where I had it before the problem, I redownloaded this patch. When I tried to open it up to edit the noise gate settings, it crashed the app. Can somebody please verify this for me? I am not asking to save the patch to your firehawk, so it bricks it, just see if it crashes the app. If it is true then, Line 6 should have some kind of "trusted tone" verification in place.
  21. Good stuff- This video will help out those who need a bit of guidance to make the choice. As far as I can see you hit all the main points for both units.
  22. I agree, a person's sound, and gear used to get that sound is the same as getting new shoes- best if you try it on for size. The HD500 does have a lot under the hood, so naturally you will never get zero lag.
  23. I have been tweaking my Firehawk, and moving patches around, adjusting levels, and basically trying to figure the thing out. This morning it crashed and locked up on me multiple times. I shot video of it happening: https://youtu.be/fJ4_5HqS0Ds As you can see, it boots up, and you can play with it for a short period of time, but after a few patch switches, it will emit a loud noise (or just go silent), then patch button A and D will come on, an then the whole thing locks up. This has got me P-O'ed, as I possibly can do a system restore and re-create my setup from "my tones"- I did a system restore before and it wiped everything out. I am thinking I either have a defective unit, or the unit in general needs some changes.
  24. Speaking of volume levels, here is something to look out for when you are tweaking patches. When you are doing a tweak on the app, and want to save to hardware(FH), if you keep working on a patch and save to the same patch location on the Firehawk multiple times in the same session, you will notice a signifigant volume drop in the patch after every save (I did anyways). I was tweaking last night, trying to do the same thing you are Cordelero- normalizing all my patches to have a nice transition flow when switching, and this was happening. I thought I was losing my mind, as I would adjust a level, then save, and at the moment I saved, I had a volume drop. I found that a hard boot will bring the volume level back to where it actually should be.
