  1. This is great, I do appreciate it. I want to know what I am missing out on!
  2. Hiya, Helix owners, Your answers are most welcome, 1) How do you feel about your new Helix? 2) What would you like to see changed or improved about it if it was at all possible? 3) How would it be then? Thank you guys!
  3. Glad for the fast service you got.
  4. I use a iphone generic screen protector cut to size. Mainly to protect against scratches. But I am using the glass protectors on my Galaxy 5 nowadays. Perhaps cut one in half for the HD with glass cutter. Absolutely on the Helix! Being so expensive hardened glass that'l fit the screen is assurance from scratches and they do work to save the screen. Some can protect the main screen from a hammer hit. Will check the welding accessories
  5. You can see the smile come over every artist who has tried it. Sounds real!
  6. Or a few Audiophiles arguing over which $1,000 cable is best
  7. A critical comment from a fractal fan paraphrased "I hope the release date of the FX8 isnt a Helix!" LOL He must of been satirical!LOL I have heard of the FX8 for way, way longer than the Helix and it still isn't out. I'm glad the Helix wasn't a FX8 LOL He probably was talking about the release coming after the announced date of release. Anyway, I gotta say the Helix FX sound as good as the Axe's from what I have heard so far
  8. How are you monitoring the HD500? Headphones or thru Amp?
  9. Always good to hear when problem gets solved! Well Done!
  10. Yes to me the higher gain AxeII have compression on them. From the SLO models the Axe wins to my ears. But they are so close especially the wet I was really wondering some files got mixed or duplicated. LOL
  11. I like bang for buck deals like the HD500 and most of my Studio gear. Guitars included. Of course Pro Studios invest in better quality name brands. It will be interesting if the Helix catches on with Pro Studios. Most like when the rack comes out. It does do an engineer out of a job having a modeler that does it all. Many feel the creative aspect is missing but when time is money many have their quick solution for some clients and the Axe and Kemper have a foothold there. The Helix puts the create back in as I cant stand all the menus and unreadable digital readouts. I can see the Helix as fast as thought design approach could give back some sense of creativity. And that is where I think Helix owners are as on the Helix forum there is little albeit a few minor bugs.
  12. Oh yeah the joke I got off FB was When I die, I hope my wife doesn't sell my guitars for what I told her they cost. LOL
  13. There is nothing wrong with a shootout. While undoubtedly Helix wins on ease of use and looks; routing flexibility is a huge plus. t still would be nice to hear at least a reamping of a dry guitar split from a player who played the real amp.
  14. Yeah it is well over $2k ihere I think $2400 which is 4 times $500 for my new HD500. which I love and use most days. I would certainly like a Helix. It is too hard to justify. Perhaps one day. The aussie dollar is very slowly improving. Logically a better investment purchase if I had the money would be a classic guitar. Like paintings they are!
  15. I didnt know this either. Wow that is a lot of choice. Are they all great?
  16. Thanks dunncan That is strange the Axe FX8 is using the same converters as the HD500x (CS 4272) The different converters are undoubtedly for the ins and outs tally but rated the same in dynamic range. 114db The question is; whose patented trickery gets an extra 9 db out of them?
  17. Would like to know what are the current converter chips in the the Helix and also any data concerning the circuitry
  18. I read the Good bad and the ugly and overall it seemed a more than fair review. I did get the impression the unit lacked in amp models and having looked at the manual etc it is clearly not. So the ugly title and the lack of amps was a misdirector The FX are lacking a bit to what we are used to and undoubtedly Line 6 will support Helix with advances including more FX Amps etc. On the plus side of ugly those FX sound fantastic!
  19. Did you try a phase flip on either? When I first got my HD500 I was getting too much noise coming thru and I was disappointed. The input selection helped to lessen it but it wasnt until I completely shielded all cavities in all guitars that the noise became a non issue. I observed that when the amp and HD500 were in close proximity to the guitar the noise issue got worse as hum was being induced into both. Maybe the HD500x being non balanced on guitar input shares its ground on one of the terminals and the Helix might be out of phase with it. As unbalanced inputs the electronics pick up the Pickups electromagnetic field. Good luck with it and I hope it doesnt take too much time to sort out.
  20. My greatest fear is my wife will sell all my guitars for what I told her they cost! LOL
  21. Good on you for the First impressions review. Much appreciated! I am glad the amp models are a noticable step up. Thanks too robbie. Very glad for you! You sure are game giging off the bat like that! GAS
  22. Post on the gear page as too few Line 6 staff here who have a better chance of knowing.
