Yeah that works but I have decided to look at a buffered splitter box but I have now settled on a s/pdif to analogue converter but it appears line level and will require a reamp box. Seems I might just can the idea. But this is cheap enough to play with. I might just hook up one of the stereo outs into reversed DI box for now and see how it goes, If that works okay I'll take it further. This way I can use the HD500 outs into stereo amps and run the dry converted digital out to a center clean reverb amp. There is plenty of space in a HD500 and I would like to install a 'DI Out' into it. Ideally I'd like an output that is as good as going direct into an amp. The main purpose is to have a center clean amp. The idea is to take a dual feed from the Guitar input. From memory the input jack is hard soldered to a input circuit board so it might not fully work without rerouting the input card and a new input jack with a input transformer and take a split off it and then that will change the impedance. The other alternative is separate outputs on the pickups on the guitar; a la Billy Sheehan

While it is true the average punter cannot hear a difference in sample and bit rates I can fairly easily with good equipment in a treated room, so too anyone who has been audio engineering for many years and also masters. Your ears develop sensitivities I also have DSD recorder for mastering and swear by them for acoustic recordings, the difference is noticeable.

Helix sounds like it's got more dynamic range especially in the low end. There is a sense of better resolution that is an unmistakable difference kinda like the difference between 16bit 41khz and 24bit at 98khz.. It is a subtle difference

What is the result of the support tickets. I presume each has opened one but here is the big BUTT Who wants to send their unit off for repair?? Would'nt want to be without it and risk a long wait while the cause is isolated. I use my HD via s/pdif all the time for recording and it is rock solid. The prob is not just additional AD DA conversion it is also additional pre amp unless your lucky enough to have a line input on your interface. Use that meantime. Not sure if related or not but in the interest of getting the s/pdif sorted there is a quote from another Topic "removing rubber feet" where he mentions using a Radial due to noise. Might be connected

Well you still have USB on the POD for studio use. I missed "the flakey outs on the FTP " I just use a Motu 2408MkIII as I can hook up dedicated preamps for vocals and bass And Mixdown analogue using it's outs. Helix would be awesome and it has a USB and s/pdif as well

No, my logic is another piece of gear that outputs s/pdif so that you can determine if the prob is your FTP or the POD. Some DVD players have s/pdif out usually fixed at 48khz. If you match that and select it up in your DAW and preferences you should know if it is your FTP. Getting a lend of an interface to test the POD can be done by hiring it or a studio

I often use it but usually down a 5th, You have to improvise in tune with the scale. Some blue notes work okay too. To me the tone doesn't sound as good pitched up for metal but okay for cleaner styles. And generally 50% is too much. 25%is plenty wet

The FX out on the POD is a TRS This means you can divide the TRS into two TS outs one for each amp. You could also easily solder to get more length than what is commercially available The returns are L R on the POD so no need there.

If two cables and no joy seems as you say Interface or POD. If you could be bothered to borrow a friends gear with s/pdif out you will then know. Until then use the usb

Do you have any other gear with s/pdif out for testing your Fast Track Pro? Does it work fine with analogue inputs. Did you bring up the preference menu and open the asio drive making sure s/pdif is armed. And track in your softeware armed with the s/pdif input selected for that track. Also Really make sure you have a very good cable.

I think the amps wont sound as good due to receiving a line level signal from the line out. You could put a reamp box on though and get the most out of your gear: FOH giving L R spacial info and the amp goodness.

I use it alot for home recording /practice. Make sure the sample rates are matched on your HD and interface preference menu asio page. Ensure the s/pdif cable is a quality 75ohm video cable. On the HD setup pages you have a choice between wet and dry. Dry being only raw guitar.

The harshness is a givaway. A HD B HX Though not a lot in it.

What probably has happened is you press the setlist button but you have to move the curser small arrow and hit enter to select the setlist.It will highlight when you have it.

On the plus side; You can get a completely different way to get a tone. One you'd never think of. In other words there are suprises. \When you have some time downloading customtones that have the most downloads is a good place to start. The problem is there are so many but just pick a bunch of random tones and down load. Overwrite the ones that don't work for you straight away with your new tone nothing patch but be sure to check the patch out some first toggling on and off presets It is a good way to get some routing ideas to.
