That would be the perfect amp for my cover of Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast!

I dunno, the crew of the Nostromo seemed pretty surprised when Ash started hemorrhaging liquid latex... The A2s always were a bit twitchy :D

There are a couple of amps I've found where getting the clean sound I was after resulted in very low overall output. In those instances I'll use either a gain block after the amp or the volume in the output block, depending on what else is going on in the patch, to get the output where I want it. Works well.

I will say that if they implement more advanced polyphonic pitch tracking then I hope they make it optional, like the "Classic/Chords" switch on Whammy 5. Mine was always set on "Classic". I like the glitchy tracking. But I'm not using it to simulate drop-tuning my guitar. So horses for courses.

Someone told me today that they believed Blade Runner and Alien to exist in the same universe. At first I thought he was nuts, but the more I think about it the more it really seems to work. It's kind of a cool concept. If you're in to such things. I am. Sorry to divert from the threads primary topic, may I just say that I love bacon when it's super crisp. Not hard or tough but crisp, like if you dropped it it would shatter. That's good bacon.

The Jem doesn't usually do much for me, but that is truly a beautiful specimen. Very nice. Thanks for the video!

I know that it's not something that's likely to continue, so I'll try not to get too used to it, but I must say I've very much enjoyed the periodic info drops regarding what you fellers are working on. So thanks for that!

Hot damn amsdenj, that's good stuff! Thanks for taking the time to write it up, I just love the nuts and bolts. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go read it a half dozen more times....

That is an awesome story. I work in an oil and gas plant and when I open the door I hear... turbines. Which is cool in its own right, but it's not Greg Koch cool.

To say nothing of if it's TOO granular...

Glad you guys found that as enlightening as I did! It's just what I was after, that gooey (gristley) crunch that cleans up nice and pretty with the guitar volume. Greg Koch is the man for sure, an entertainer on multiple levels and truly a master of the instrument.

I was struggling to get the sound I was after out of my Les Paul with the Bassman, so I consulted the Oracle at Wildwood. Not a combination of settings I would have likely stumbled across on my own, but they're beautiful and Helix plays right along. It's good stuff! "That'll rattle your polyps!" - Greg Koch

The amount of silence before the second one starts is clearly much longer than the amount of silence before the first one starts. Did you even try or are you deliberately wasting OPs time?
-
I know just what you mean. "Stereo" is always the only option for the reverbs. The best way I've found to sum back to mono is by placing a Simple EQ block after the reverb.

I appreciate your thorough post! I've found myself cutting down that low and questioned my sanity. There comes a point where, even though my ears tell me it's good, the number staring at me from the screen makes me question what I'm doing. It just seems odd. Glad to hear some corroboration from a clearly knowledgeable source! I'm using an Atomic CLR cab.

I had a similar experience with the Deluxe. I tried it when I first got the unit and wasn't impressed, didn't touch it again for a while. Just tried it again recently and suddenly it's one of my favorites!

What he said. Pretty much all of my patches run two IRs in parallel. And I recommend splitting your parallel path with an A/B instead of the even split it loads with, as that will allow you to tweak the balance between the two. Have fun!

I'd take them both, but the 5e3 Tweed Deluxe tops my list of amp wishes...

How would you guys go about replicating this tone?
Verne-Bunsen replied to Rocco_Crocco's topic in Helix
If you run a Champ before another amp, does that make it a pre-champ? (Sound of crickets.....) That sounds really cool, wouldn't have thunk it. I do love this machine! -

I heard a bridge position humbucker as well, so I used my LP with Classic 57s. I followed my ears (and not my research into Haynes' gear...) and went with the US Deluxe. I started with an existing patch that has that amp into a pair of Redwirez IRs in parallel: a 1x15 Supro Thunderbolt and a 2x12 Twin Reverb. I usually dial in a high cut at the cabs to tame fizz, but that's a big part of this tone I think so high cuts are off. I agree with cclement, definitely some fuzz going on, however the fuzz was taking too much of the punch and percussiveness out of the muted strings so I went with a parallel split in front of the amp: a Triangle Fuzz on one path and a Scream 808 on the other. The A/B split leans 50 clicks towards the Fuzz. Here's how that sounds: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hj02gh0i61lcgw1/Mule.mp3?dl=0 I'm thinking it sounds pretty good, I like it enough that I'm going to save it, haha! I don't know if it will get as close as you're after but maybe it helps you along on the quest... Settings: Triangle Fuzz: Sustain 2.5, Tone 8.1 Level 6.9 Scream 808: Gain 1.0, Tone 7.1, Level 10 US Deluxe: Drive 5.6, Bass 4.5, Mid 6.8, Treble 7.0, Presence 0, Channel Volume: 8 (All page 2 stuff is stock) -

I would just like to express my elation that I wasn't greeted by a picture of Andy Summers when I opened this thread :D I've got some thoughts, think I'll go play with it some... -
Hairy (not the good kind) on notes and tones. Digital Clipping?
Verne-Bunsen replied to joseroys's topic in Helix
As an exercise in trying to identify the behavior you're talking about, do you hear it in this demonstration? If you build these simple patches as he does, does yours sound (within reasonable expectation) like his?- 121 replies

I legit LOL'd, haha!

I'm keen on 10s myself. I've been having a lot of fun with Ownhammer's Gibson Goldtone 1012 (a single cab with 1 10" and 1 12" Celestion) and CabIR.eu's Marshall 8x10.

I did this as well. This guy has zero posts outside of his bait threads, contributes nothing to the forum and deliberately wastes the time of anyone he can manage to engage.
