  1. Shouldn't be a problem to upload the preset, I'll try to do that tomorrow if you haven't located it in the meantime.
  2. Absolutely! I run mine just like that, it's slick! Just takes a 3PDT switch, a jack, a resistor and a few minutes with a soldering iron. I posted the details of how I did it here: http://line6.com/support/topic/26725-toe-switching-with-an-external-exp-pedal/ Enjoy!
  3. Somehow I managed to not come across that video in any of my searches, I will definitely carve out some time to watch it. Thanks!
  4. Did it sound right for you in 2.20? I'm still on 2.20 and would be happy to check some parameters for you if you'd like.
  5. It may sound worse with your guitar and monitor and playing style, but it may sound phenomenal with another. I am certain than if changes were made, they were made because, subjectively, they sounded better to the guy doing it. As I like to say, "One man's 'fixed' is another man's 'ruined'"..,
  6. So, the Freq Out has been in the wild for a bit now, who's got one and how are you using it with Helix? Mine arrived while I was out of town, I just got in and plugged it in for the first time this morning. First things first, what a cool pedal!!!! So far I've been running it in front of Helix which works well for the Freq Out, but the buffer (?) seems to disagree with some stuff in Helix when used this way. It makes the Arbitrator Fuzz act just like a real Fuzz Face does behind a buffered pedal, and I found that my Litigator + Stupor OD patch got super "brittle", really did something to the highs. This cleaned up by removing Freq Out from the chain. I'll be trying it in a loop next and moving it around. I'm interested to know what others have found good results with?
  7. The gate in the Input block is serviceable, however I personally haven't had any luck getting the effect block gates (Noise Gate / Hard Gate) to behave the way I want. I still use my Boss NS-2 with my Devi Ever Shoe Gazer (noisiest pedal ever...) in the loop in one of Helix's FX loops.
  8. Well, that's food for thought... Interesting approach, using different headphones for different parts of crafting tones. I agree with you on preferring a straight cable, I'd imagine if I settle on a set with a coiled cable I'll end up re-cabling it... Another nod for the 880s, noted. My son (9 years old) is completely oblivious to the notion that I can't simultaneously talk about Transformers and play/record. Exasperating and endearing all at once, haha!
  9. I've looked at the 880s and would be interested to compare them to the 770s and hear the effect of the semi-open vs closed construction.
  10. That was my experience with my QC15s. They're great for listening to tunes or watching movies on the airplane (my usual use for them), but they weren't at all pleasing with Helix. At least not in a way that agreed with what sounded good through my Atomic CLR... I guess that would be ideal, duly noted.
  11. That's an interesting tidbit. My 80s have a straight cable and I like that, I find coiled cables a bit bulky and unwieldly. From a quick search it looks like re-cabling the 250s with a straight cable is not uncommon, so that's an option if it were to be an issue. A factor to consider anyway, thanks!
  12. Good info, thanks for that! A recent post regarding the copious output of the onboard headphone amp is actually what got me considering the higher impedance version.
  13. Hello all, I currently use a set of Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 ohm headphones with Helix and I am very happy with them. What I dial in through my FRFR translates nicely to them which is all a guy can ask for really. I'm looking to buy another set, so as to have a set dedicated to Helix, but I'm wondering if the 250 ohm version wouldn't be a better fit for the application. Most all of the headphone threads here contain references to the 80 ohm version but I don't think I've seen anybody mention using the 250s. Has anybody here used the 250 ohm DT 770s with Helix, or better yet has anybody had opportunity to compare both? Again I'm very pleased with the 80 ohm version, so there is the "known quantity" factor there, however the idea of something a little better is always appealing, especially when they price point is essentially the same... Thanks! -VB
  14. I use the exact same headphones and they sound fantastic for me plugged straight into Helix. I have not tweaked any settings to make them so. I don't use them to dial in tones, I do that through my Atomic CLR, but those patches sound great in the 770s with no other tweaking required. They don't sound exactly the same, can't expect that, but they do sound quite good. I'm not sure what advice to give, as it's basically been "plug-and-play" for me...
  15. Man, that was tasty! The lead tone at 1:39 is killer! My IR slots are full as it is, otherwise I would probably be heading back to Ownhammer.com...

    Tuner

This has gone into the Twilight Zone. I can't think of many members of this forum who have more consistently doled out assistance and insight than phil_m. To call him a troll simply because he isn't on your band wagon is egregious. Do tuner threads need a "Safe Space - No Contradictory Opinions Allowed" disclaimer?
  17. I'm currently putting a new board together and so things are in flux somewhat, but currently I'm using three FX loops with a Devi Ever Shoe Gazer, an Earthquaker Devices Bit Commander and a ZVex Fuzz Factory. As for "innovative" ways of using stuff, I've taken to using both external expression pedal jacks and a home-brew expression pedal to allow for a single toe-switchable external expression pedal. I outlined the process for achieving it in this thread: http://line6.com/support/topic/26725-toe-switching-with-an-external-exp-pedal/ This ought to be an interesting thread!
  18. I agree, I don't generally have 4 snaps in a preset so I always end up with wasted footswitches. The MIDI thing works, but it isn't perfect. I started an Ideascale submission a while back for basically what you describe, running in stomp mode with the option to assign snapshots as desired. Bote it up if you like! https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Option-to-assign-Snapshots-to-switches-in-10-Switch-Stomp-Mode/833058-23508
  19. You are definitely not alone. Without getting overly critical, I'll just say that the Helix update procedure could use an... update.... The link in the instructions takes you to the Line 6 software download page. From the three fields at the top select "Helix" from the first and leave the second one as "All Software" and select your computer's OS from the third. Hit "GO". This will take you to the release notes. Down at the bottom of that post, almost camouflaged, is a link that says "Get Download". Do that, make sure you've followed all the steps in the instructions up to that point, and run it, following the update instructions. This will install the new editor and updater. Once that is done, running the updater will perform the actual Helix firmware update. Do make sure to follow the instructions for the update procedure to the letter, bad things seem to happen when people don't... Good luck!

    Tuner

Have you read the old tuner threads? A post on how jumpy the tuner was would be immediately followed by a post on how the tuner wasn't reactive enough. So to answer your question, yes, I think people will moan about the tuner forever no matter what. But it could be worse, at least we're not talking about Andy Summer's MIAB tone...
  21. You are definitely missing a big part of Snapshot's functionality! The manual gives instruction on this on p.35: http://line6.com/data/6/0a06439c975d5787c3e351aa0/application/pdf/Helix%202.0%20Owners%20Manual%20-%20Rev%20D%20-%20English%20.pdf Also Scott on Helix Channel touches on it in his Snapshots video on the YouTubes:
  22. Agreed! I had the 22, an FSR edition with a Greenback in place of the Eminence. And high-speed orange tolex. I don't regret selling it yet, but probably I will, haha! I went ahead and submitted this to Ideascale... https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Fender-Super-Sonic-BURN-channel/893243-23508?submitted=1
  23. Prior to Helix my main amp was a Fender Super Sonic. The amps clean channel is already well represented by the existing Fender offerings in Helix, but the two stage "BURN" channel is a pretty unique thing and I'd love to see it modeled. I just sold that Super Sonic, so I'm a bit misty eyed and nostalgic about the whole thing right now... :P
  24. Excellent work! Brace yourself, the orders are going to come rolling in, haha!
  25. The only reason there aren't many threads in other languages is that no one is starting threads in other languages. I don't know how much activity it would see but there's nothing that I'm aware of stopping anyone from doing it. For what it's worth, your English is much better than my German 😄
