  1. I have pretty much all of my patches set up with up-front effects and amp on path 1, path 1 routed to path 2, then cab(s)/IR(s) and post-amp effects on path 2. I rarely run into DSP shortages by spreading things out like this.
  2. If you're using the top path (1A&B ) for one signal chain and the bottom path (2A&B ) for another, then assigning the level parameter in the output block of the individual chains to a controller or to snapshots will allow you to alternate muting without using DSP or an effect slot.
  3. Joe Bonamassa sez: "There are a couple of rules when you’re playing rhythm guitar, especially when you’re jamming with other people: One—turn down!" https://jbonamassa.com/features/2015/bonamassa-gp-two-rules/
  4. Unless I'm missing something, wouldn't this just result in sending raw signal to the output? Another option that won't use up DSP is to utilize the level parameter in the output block of each path. Or, if you are using a "Y" split and merging to the same output block, you could change the split to an A/B and switch between 100%A and 100%B.
  5. Good info, thanks! Not for nothin', but seems like another good place for them to post an announcement like that would be, I dunno, the Line 6 Helix forum? Maybe it's just me, I jump to craaaaaazy conclusions sometimes...

    Input Pad

That seems like a no-brainer to me too, but I think we're in the minority. There are a couple of Ideascale entries on it and they haven't really gained traction.
  7. I look forward to hearing your thoughts! For a starting place in all of those files, I usually go to the "Quick Start" folders within the speaker folders and check out the OH1 and OH2 mixes. Generally I find a couple of those that are "just right". The "Summary" folder, which is a newer addition, also whittles things down nicely.
  8. Is it transient or does it register steadily as G? My low Es occasionally register as B on my Korg Pitch Black tuner, but striking the string again generally clears it up. As has been said, I think it's just an overtone thing. As Phil said, I generally tune on the neck pickup with the tone rolled all the way off and that seems to keep things focused.
  9. There are certainly worse things to get into over the weekend, haha!
  10. That's a true story, I followed a similar curve. "Honeymoon" elation at first, followed slowly by growing dissappointment as I realized that all of the sounds in my head weren't falling out of Helix magically on their own, followed by more elation as I learned the machine and started understanding how to consistently get what I was after. My dark spell was months. But the light at the end is so bright!
  11. Welcome aboard! This is a very friendly and helpful forum, you'll find no shortage of folks willing to help you out.
  12. Thanks for the kind words! Both the arrangement and the tone have been under a lot of revision over the past few months, I'm pretty happy with both at this point :D I have a tendency to forget my progress when I'm working on stuff like this so I actually kept a transcription of the arrangement as I went. I've updated the OP to include a link to it in Dropbox. Have at it and enjoy! Thanks! I just installed the Bigsby on that guitar this weekend, can't get enough!
  13. This is an arrangement of the jazz standard Autumn Leaves (Joseph Kosma, 1945) that I've been working on for a while. I'm playing my Les Paul Traditional Pro with Lollar P-90s into the Helix's "Stone Age" Gibson EH-185 amp. The cabs are a RedWirez Supro Thunderbolt 1x15 IR and an Ownhammer Gibson Goldtone 10/12 (1x10 + 1x12) IR. Enjoy! https://soundcloud.com/vb-tunes/autumn-leaves Should anybody be interested, here is a link to a transcription of the arrangement. It's in Dropbox, it can sometimes take some hunting to find the "Download" option depending on how you're viewing it, but it's there... https://www.dropbox.com/s/4air1vwx6gye1jg/Autumn%20Leaves.pdf?dl=0
  14. That is how I've done it. Simple and allows you to retain reverb/delay tails.
  15. I've got Ownhammer and Redwirez among others, they both make excellent stuff. One thing I like about Ownhammer's packages is that they include their own multi-mic mixes, and they are really good. With the Redwirez I spend a lot more time "auditioning" them and I generally run more than one in parallel to get what I'm after. They do offer an IR mixing utility (MixIR) which seems quite powerful but I haven't tried it yet. I'm worried that I would fall so far down the tone-tweaking rabbit hole that I may never resurface, haha! 3Sigma is also very good and they don't overload you with options. CabIR.eu offers good stuff and they also include mixes.
  16. Excellent! I've been working a lot with trying to get the auto-engage settings to play nice with the wah, theres a lot of give-and-take. I hope it works well for you!
  17. I suspect you are indeed a click away. Select the wah block and toggle it once with the bypass button and it should reverse how its bypass state is handled by the auto-engage.
  18. I countered it for you. Whew!
  19. It's a little known fact that the song was originally titled "Message From the Bathroom" and was about the perils of not checking the TP roll before getting down to business. I think he actually recorded it in the bathroom, which contributed to the unique tone.
  20. That will require another watch... HAHAHA!
  21. [quote name="phil_m" post="199859" timestamp="1488307884" I also thought of calling it "Heavy Vetting Zoo"... That was the first thing I thought of, haha! Cool track, thanks for sharing it!
  22. Well that's just wild, I love it!
