and like your recliner, you would have gotten your use out of it!

wow, sorry for your experience. get a new one is the best answer.

I know this doesn't help, but there are thousands of things to try. Look at Jason Sadites videos, they are good. Also John Nathon Cordy and Steve Serlacci. You could also try adding a cab in your original approach (going into the return). Some people like that better. For me, the only cab that sounds good is the legacy bass 15 ampeg cab. all the rest are too metalic sounding. Good luck and hope you don't give up. It can be worth the time.... especially later on when you start to factor in setup/breakdown and travel.... so much easier!

i have the 112+ then got a 212+ also. the 212+ sounds better, but is heavier and with my back, that is important. I do love the sound of both though. I recently got the QSC 10 which is light and loud and sounds really good. I have been using it at home (in between bedroom and jam room levels) paired with the 112+ cause the 212 is at our practice house. I like the sound of the two of them together. I have recently been using the QSC with StompXL as a quick carry on vacations or open mic nights. it sounds great. back to your question though, I agree there is a shelf life for everything.... and it usually happens right after I buy something :) But hey, we also have a shelf life and whose to say which is longer. So if it sounds good.... do it!

could the amp sag have something to do with this?
-
I don't think you can do that. however, you could use command center and have your the FS's change per snapshot. I am not sure if you can assign a block to a FS in command center, but you could create two snapshots that use your chorus and reverb, then depending on which snapshot you are in, you could assign a FS your chorus or reverb snapshot. One drawback is I think you have to be in stomp mode for the command center assignments to work. I don't know if they work with Snap?/Stomp mode. You could easily test it. If not, just put your 4 snapshots assigned to the top 4 FS's and do that in each snapshot.... That would give you close to the same thing. just a thought.

Snaps 1-4 stacked on FS1 and Snaps 5-8 on FS6 .... help
PaulTBaker replied to PaulTBaker's topic in Helix
just for the curious.... I ended up setting my snapshots 1 through 5 to be like below and used the command center to stack the snapshots all on FS1. I also set the color to blue except for when they are all off and that is set to white... this was tricky, see below. 1. all (script, trem, chorus, rotary, twin harmony) off 2. script on /rest off 3. trem on / rest off 4. chorus on / rest off 5. rotary on / rest off I have snapshot 7 set to turn on the twin harmony block. I have snapshot 8 set to turn on the chorus, and two delays (this is my ambience setting). I used the command center to stack snaps 1, 7 and 8 on FS2. I have the rest of my FS's assigned to two dist. pedals, drive/vol amp parameters, channel output gain, looper, slap delay, 360 simple delay, double delay. So without having to switch from stomp to preset I can turn on/off 14 pedals. that does not include the multiple on/off/parameter changes in the ambient setting. I have the snaps 7 and 8 FS1 set to snap 1(all off). This keeps me from cycling through multiple clicks if I want to turn off the mod pedal selected in FS1. That works great for me. -
make sure volume pedal is set to log...

Snaps 1-4 stacked on FS1 and Snaps 5-8 on FS6 .... help
PaulTBaker replied to PaulTBaker's topic in Helix
yes I see what you are saying about the bypass state..I could not have snap 2 (trem) on and turn snap 7 on (extra delay). for the snaps 1 - 4 to work, I would have to ALL my other blocks with the snapshot bypass unchecked so they don't get changed with snaps 1-4. Well maybe they need snapshot groups where the snapshot bypass for the block could by checked or unchecked based on the snapshot or snapshot group. mmmm..... -
Helix - Great at home - not great at Band Practice
PaulTBaker replied to barnsleyboy's topic in Helix
yes, thanks to this forum and many smart people like yourself. Found out several years ago. Used to use an EQ block to get close. Not perfect of course. However, I'm getting to the point now where you can kind of understand what will happen at the different levels. -
I have the helix floor (and Stomp XL). I have found it easiest to stay in stomp mode during live performances so my preset(s) are setup up like a real pedal board with some exceptions to a stomp that changes the Vol/Drive parameters of the amp. The preset has Tremelo, Chorus, and Rotary blocks. I have snaps 1,2,3,4 set to turn them all off or turn one on individually. I used the Command Center to create a stackable snapshot for FS1 that cycles between snaps 1-4. This works great. It is like have extra foot switches to turn the pedals on or off all while in stomp mode. I have several delay 4 delay blocks set. Only 3 have an assign FS for on/off. I wanted to create another stackable Snap FS on FS6 that would cycle through Snaps 5-8. When I go to Command Center and select snapshot for FS6, the FS6 scribble strip never shows anything and nothing gets assigned. I am basically trying to replicate what I did on FS1 with stackable snaps 1-4... but it is not taking. Has anyone else tried to have two FS's be stackable snaps? Thanks in advance!

Helix - Great at home - not great at Band Practice
PaulTBaker replied to barnsleyboy's topic in Helix
quick question. It is suggested to use 80db level to set the amp. At what distance from the sound source? That makes a difference. -
Well, i'd give you my 2 cents worth, but ...... :)

HX Somp/XL Using Snapshots while playing in Preset Mode
PaulTBaker replied to Adr1an0Adr1an0's topic in Helix
the short answer is No. You can however use the command center to assign some snapshots to some buttons, and some presets to other buttons. that would combine snaps and presets. but it would not be preset mode. -
Helix - Great at home - not great at Band Practice

pull up a comfy chair and hang on! this site has what you need, but you have to dig for it. There is so much that could be going on. Type of guitar, type of helix/floor/stomp (that really doesn't matter), type of music, volume. Yes, you are correct that the lower volume patches will be different. Its the Fletcher Munson (spelling ?) effect. Bass and highs will get boosted more than mids when the volume is louder. (or something like that, there are very smart people on here that can help). it could be your effects (reverbs, delays) are washing out his tone. could be he just needs to drop the gain some (you don't need as much as you think), drop the lows and highs (either on the amp and/or high/low cuts on the amp or an eq block at the end of the chain). Jason Sadites has a ton of explanations and is very good at explaining the why of things... maybe too much sometimes, but I like it. Also John Nathan Cordy and Steve Sterlacci. all good stuff there. Hope he sticks with it. I and others have spent many hours (mostly enjoyable) tweaking things in the helix and have gotten pretty awesome results. Good luck -
agree with the pickups and guitars. If the mesa is not working for you, try using the litigator. I have a few presets using the Litigator that sound close to that. Try in Minatour and the Compulsive (?).

How to change the on/off state of the LED on a footswitch
PaulTBaker replied to cdehughes's topic in Helix
I have had a situation where I have a footswitch assigned to multiple parameters of an amp. for example, on will increase the master and lower the drive and the bass, off will reverse these. In playing around with this, sometimes the light for on/off gets switched. Which is what I think you want. When this happens, I found that if I just tap the footswitch (not press all the way down) it will cycle the light on or off. So if the footswitch is On, tap it and the light goes off. Save the preset. This seems to let me do what you are trying to do. So pullup your preset. Step on the footswitch to go to drive (light should be off). Just tap the footswitch, the light should go on. Save the preset. You should be good to go. If that doesn't work, play around with the Global parameter for selecting the footswitch and then try my suggestion again. Good luck. -
Advice on making the PowerCab sound great in a live setting.
PaulTBaker replied to guitargar's topic in Powercab
Yes, it is best to "set" your tone at playing volume, however if that is not possible, there are some posts on here that talk about adding an EQ to the end of your chain that supposedly simulates the Fletcher Munson effect at low volumes. Sort of like a loudness button on the stereo. The idea is you turn on the eq at low volumes and make then tweak other things to make that sound good, then turn off the eq at the end when you play live (louder). Lots of posts on this, look them up and they give you examples of settings for the eq block. Of course they are no where near exact, but by messing with them, you start to learn what is going on. When I was starting out, I did use these eq tricks and they did help. Eventually, your ears will get used to how to set things in low volume that will translate to high volume, but the eq trick can help. Some of the main things people say (and folks please correct me if I have them backwards:)) are don't use as much drive as you think for your dirty and leads. The low end and extreme high end will sound much louder than the mids when given more volume. So at low volumes your tones may be dull or not bassy enough, but that may be perfect at louder volumes. Have fun, don't get frustrated, cause when you hit that tone, it is worth it! Good luck. -
Curious about how the tap tempo is being used for chorus and delay
PaulTBaker replied to PaulTBaker's topic in Helix
Thank you! I'll try changing to the quarter notes for easier tapping. -
I have a helix floor and stomp xl. Been using Line 6 stuff since the first pod. Been reading this site for years and have enjoyed most of the conversations and have learned a ton. Thank you! For some of my patches I have a delay (or trem, or Chorus, etc.) and i have recently changed the timing to use the tap tempo. I would love to know how some of you are doing this. do you have it set to 1/4, 1/8??? which is easiest to change when playing live. I know this is a very open question, so let me explain why I'm asking. I have a hard time setting the time using the tap tempo live. For example, if I want it to get to 120, I can't really do that. I have not figured out the best way to make the adjustment by tapping. Let's take a slap back on the delay. I used to set it manually at 130 to 150. now I have it set to tap tempo 1/8. the thought being I could change it live depending on what I want. I know I need to just dig in and keep playing with it, and I will. I would like to hear how you guys have it set up. Is it easier to tap what you need when it is set to 1/4 instead of 1/8? Things like that is what I'm looking for. Thanks....

sorry, but the "keep drummer ontime button" doesn't come out until the next release!!! Haha.

I loved my HD500x expecially through my DT-25. Unfortunately, the DT-25 was not very reliable and finally bricked when I tried upgrading to version 2.0. I moved to helix LT, then to Helix Floor because it was a lot more sturdy (at least imo). I am very happy with the Helix. I tried to replicate my patches from the 500x as a start. That was not really successful. I have spent tons of time reading (Jason Sadites, John Nathan Cordy, and some other guy :) ) and have learned alot about the helix from them as well as trial and error. Knock on wood, the support has been very good. I had only one upgrade where i got in trouble, but Line6 quickly got me unstuck. So if possible, I suggest upgrading to the helix. I also have the PC +112, and PC+212 and I really like both of those. Best of luck to you. Also, there are a lot of smart and helpful people on this site that are glad to go through this journey with you!
