interesting.... I am assuming (yeah, I know) that both presets are the same except for the FS assignments. again assuming you have clean, crunch, lead setups in the preset. If you are in lead mode and switch to your new preset, you will not be in lead mode there, unless you saved it like that. How are you compensating for that?

can you assign it to the expression pedal?

Helix-Edit/-Native: pictures of amps and effects!
PaulTBaker replied to fruijter7777's topic in Helix
you made that up!!! haha -
probably just my ears, because I do like the PC on LF Raw and using a cab in the Helix. I guess I like dark because my favorite cab is the ampg 1x15. To me that sounds the warmest with my tele. Anything elses sounds very metalic and brittle, even with playing with the high cuts, etc. I will definitely try having my aco preset change the PC to FRFR. Also, I know you (amsdenj) had several post where you walked through your settings for acoustic intruments on the helix and PC. Would you mind post those links if they are still available? Thank you. Also, what is your band's name. I am also in Cary and would like to see/hear what you are doing.

Acoustic trio - need help building a lead tone (electric related)
PaulTBaker replied to themetallikid's topic in Helix/HX
I thought you said you were playing an acoustic guitar, not electric. I had the same situation, played duo gigs with acoustic guitar and female singer/guitar player. I found that adding the Minatour OD with very little gain helped, sometimes I would also use the Temaah in combination: this is an old (2020) preset I would use with acoustic... yes, it even has the kitchen sink! Haha I believe I would try the Prize OD pedal now instead with very little gain. I would add that to your current preset and see what happens. Good luck! -
I have the helix floor v3.7. Is there a way to adjust how hard you have to "toe press" to enable the expression pedal (for wah for example). Most all my patches use the expression pedal for volume and Wah. I have to really dig into the toe press to engage the wah. Seems like there should be some way to set the amount of pressure needed to turn the toe switch on/off. Thanks in advance.... ( and I probably missed it, but I did not see anything in the manual)

I have the floor and the PC112+ and PC212. I always use Flat mode with LF Raw voicings. I also always use a cab, etc. that has always sounded best to me, however, I have never tried turning the cab off with loud volumes. I will try that. Also, I have two presets that I use control center to jump to one another. I have my acoustic guitar in the aux and tele in the guitar. The acoustic/electric presets are set to either aux or guitar. This keeps the noise down when switching. Did I understand you are saying that for my acoustic guitar, I should change the PC to FRFR from LF Raw? I will give that a try as well. Thanks for the info!

It has been included.

maybe check the tubes? they may be loose or going bad. I used to love that setup, except for me, the DT25 was very fragile and I had to replace the tubes several times... and rebiass them.

No, thank you. I had not thought of that. I thought it was just the buttons (yes, I know I should call them Foot Switches (FS):)) were just dirty or wearing out. I will do a factory reset when I upgrade to 3.7 tonight.... maybe that will fix them. thanks
-
yes, I understand. I have problems with other buttons. I have had to switch my boost and drive buttons to other buttons because they randomly don't work correctly.
-
just FYI, I had to change my tap tempo effects to set times because when I would step on it to get the tuner, sometimes it would think i was trying to change the tempo and really screw everything up. I am 100% sure most of the problem is my user error, however it was still a problem and changing to time based fixed it.

PaulTBaker replied to sornord's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Oh... yes, did not mean to imply in was only the Variax... it was ALL of the guitars! -
Variax line discontinued?
PaulTBaker replied to sornord's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
sort of on topic.... however..... I just got back from a visit to the local music go round. they had lots of pretty shiney guitars. One was a Variax... very pretty... UNTIL you picked them up! ALL OF THEM... the strings looked like they had been soaking in the rain for years and ALL were out of tune... just terrible. I know I'm just whining, but why would anyone buy a guitar, much less spend alot of money on one when it plays so lousy when you pick it up, and it is mainly because of the strings! I know Guitar Center has been bad for this..... Ok, back to your normal programming! -
haha.... sometimes I am SO glad I have no idea of what you very smart and talented and (obviously hungry, snickers anyone:) are talking about!!!

What Helix Software Utilities Exist and Where are they?
PaulTBaker replied to Gillespie1983's topic in Helix
you can also use some of the standard webapps that will show differences between two files. the presets are just text files so you can load them into something like Diffchecker - Compare text online to find the difference between two text files and it will show you the differences. I agree a very cool app that spelled things out for you would be better, and maybe even let you make changes... but just to do a compare, this will definitely work. -
I feel your pain. I have the floor and the stomp xl. I would love to be able to be in stomp mode, hit mode to change to a different preset, and have it pop back to stomp mode. IIRC, it would do that for snapshot modes (maybe not though). One thing I recently did sounds like it may work for you since you are only using two presets. I used the command center to make FS2 go to a certain preset. On that preset, I used command center to have FS2 go back to the original preset... and Voila, you can stay in stomp mode and go to 2 different presets. You could also have the FS go next or prev. The only downside is you lose a footswitch to turn a stomp on/off. To me, that loss was worth it on my Floor. I may do the same with my Stomp XL. Give this a try, it is pretty easy to do and it may help! Good luck.

yep, Pan's law... of course I would have never remembered that, or even known about without the great people on the site. So much knowledge is shared on this site. it is great.... and thank you! bottom line (i think) in answering your question is that it will add 3db to your total signal path, which makes it louder. You can see that in the merge block from the parallel.

I have several "kitchen sink" patches with different amps. These are great when jamming, or a start for something else. I don't do the preset per song because it seems redundant, but that is me. I play in a few bands and with one band I have one preset that I use in stomp mode that covers every song we do. In another band, I have to switch to an acoustic guitar. I use the command center to have a FS that will go to the next preset (electric goes to acoustic preset and the acoustic FS goes to the electric). This works great because it lets me stay in stomp mode the whole time. I just started doing this and really like it. I may do the same thing where I tie my "kitchen sink" patches together so I can access different group of effects. The great thing is there are SO MANY Options! Of course that is also bad, but a good bad!

wow, this is very interesting. I have not noticed this behavior and have do a lot of copying of presets. I am up to date on the all the versions.

you mean you hit a note on the guitar and you hear something.. yes, that is what ATIR's do.

Setting up new Helix Floor for live use - best practice
PaulTBaker replied to Genebaby's topic in Helix
here's a snickers bar :) -
I know the stomp XL does have Set Lists... or at least you can save and import setlists. Surprising the stomp doesn't have that feature.

My setup at home is close to yours rd2. I have the 112+ on top of my 212+ and really love it. I have never played/heard the catalyst. Your post was the first time I heard that it had the Flether/Munson built in. That is interesting. I know it really is impossible to perfectly "fix" it with eq, but you can come close. I used to use an eq block to compensate for Fletcher/Munson and it was pretty close, but definitely had room for improvement. I know it would be hard for them to add that feature as a block or eq settings because of the infinte ways of playback with the helix, but it would be cool if they provided something as a start for people. Just a thought!
