You want to play along with backing tracks, so you want an 'accurate' reproduction system. That's monitors. The powercabs are FRFR, so full range, but not as clinical/transparent as monitors as it's intended for guitar use. Will it sound better for the Stadium? Maybe due to its tuning, but if you want your backing tracks to sound good you're better off tuning your guitar sounds to the monitors. You certainly won't lose any 'magic'. The powercabs are just L6 branded FRFRs. They are not 'special' or tuned for the agora amps, or stadium.

@flobudi there's lots of options on the chain to optimise volume. The amp channel volume will change the volume and no other amp characteristics. There are also gain blocks (mono or stereo) that you can run as a final block to 'normalise' your levels and/or to add boost for solos. You can also alter the output level of the output block. As to the optimal level, just don't end up with everything so hot your causing digital clipping in the chain or at the desk. The Helix has meters on the output blocks you can monitor. As you'll be aware from the fractal the metered level is not the perceived volume in the mix so you will need to adjust accordingly (without clipping, hence using a conservative baseline).

Can I suggest, cabs/irs close to last with any additional FoH sweetening after the sends as well. Eg i use compression, eq, and tape emulation a lot to get FoH 'right' but an amp/can arrangement would not need that.

Yes, as per Silverhead's reply - you move install programs, firmware and/or patches/setlists/backups between online and offline machines using USB storage.

I run strats and teles with no issues. I use various microphones and alter their position to adjust the tone, and experiment with cabs. It is normal to roll off the top end with global EQ, or on a desk if going direct, to remove high end info with a LPF, and low end with a HPF, as an amp in the room does not reproduce this. Where you set these is a matter of taste. I also use a tight Q notch to dip around the 3-4k mark, and a small mids notched boost to sit in the mix. What might seem extreme, may in fact be normal. When I ran a powercab+ I also reduced the gain of the tweeter, as I found it harsh. Here's an old discussion about this, but some recent videos about the stadium have suggested it removes some of the problematic frequencies already.

line 6 Helix bug: Simple Delay mix 100% after preset import
waymda replied to Smashcraaft's topic in Helix
Works fine for me. Imported, copied between setlist, conpied within set lists - mix retained@ 12% [snaphot Hook]. HX Edit 3.82 Firmware: 3.8 -
You're experiencing latency thats beyond my mortal hearing/feeling, and I use fully loaded lines a lot, as well as a number of patches that use one sound on Path A, and another on Path B, switching between them using volume changes at the end of each, switchin each between -120db and 0db repsectively (generally a gain block, but when the lines are full the output volume). One thing I do know is that Snapshots change controlled parameters in series (super quick) not in parellel, and the order of change is not (easily) manageable. That can cause 'zipping' noises, and may be what you're exceriencing. If you're deseperate, the paramater changes can be reordered in txt versions of exported patches - but don't break them. Why don't you just enable spillover to test if it meets your needs (after backing everything up of course)? That seems to be the only way you'll know if you still experience the same issue.

The usual suspects are (in preferred diagnostic order): Drivers - check your machine is upto date with OS (no hints here as you haven't said what OS), uninstall HX Edit, restart machine, full reinstall (download the right Edit for the firmware) USB cable - they wear out so try a few different ones USB port on you computer - even though nothing has changed try a different one USB port on the HX device (you don't say what type) - try a factory reset to see if its firmware related first - and try a different computer if possible If none of that works then its likely the port on the HX device requiring a service centre.

This is a user forum, so no-one here would know update timing. I'm not a mac user, but have you tried the usual "remove (fully inc drivers) and reinstall" trouble shooting that applies to all software?

I concur, the one time I had issues with something going on with volume at a gig was when the big knob was somehow enabled. And it wasn't even the one holding the guitar causing the issue!

As someone who migrated for a 500x nearly 10 years ago, with good (for the Pod) presets for every song, I can definatively say the settings do not translate between the two units. Not even close. Unfortunately, you're up for a learning curve. Fortunately, once you get it, the Helix will sound better, you'll create new patches faster, and may be more consistent. I found myself constantly tweaking most of my patches on the 500x, where as now I do minor adjustments when required, or when I think of a new way to do something want to try a new feature in a release. My suggestions to get up to speed: Spend a fair amount of time looking at Jason Saddites videos [Edit] Check out highly rated patches on custom tone - but be prepared to modify to taste/guitar and playing style Grab a small number of commercially available presets and see how they've been put together (I used Jason's, Marco Fanton, and Glenn DeLaune) Create your patches from scratch and be prepared to use different amps effects and even order them differently to the 500x Save often (not new) Backup often (new) Save favourite settings of amps and effects for reuse, and then modify as you learn more Save template(s) of your approach to smooth workflow Your next challenge will be patch leveling... but thats for later.

Something to consider re headphones vs IEMs is also the type of headphone - fully enclosed vs open back. Many report open back headphones as providing a better/more natural experience for audio produciton. I'm strictly closed back through years of recording and minimising beed to microphones, IEMs will sound even 'closer' than closed back headphones as the speaker is in your ear canal so the only air moving is in there. They will take further getting used to. I would get a set of cans that general program played through the Helix sounds good to you, and tune your patches to suit. If there's huge variability between your monitors and your headphones putting an EQ block on your patches to adjust for cans may be the way to go. See this thread about the ohmage of the Helix headphone output

Irrispective of whether it works, if your Helix is not almost new (mine is almost 10 years old) I'd be keeping it as a 'backup' of sorts. Can't see older ones retaining much value.

Noted - I'll make sure I do that. Anything else whilst you've got my attention?

Will the last person to leave this forum please turn out the lights?

Whooooooooaaaaaaa - you have the power. (to fix forums) -
Dear Helix user We too are Line 6 users. We are not Line 6 support and they don't visit here. If updating the firmware doesn't fix your issue (as suggested) you need to create a Line 6 account and raise a support ticket. https://line6.com/support/ thanks L6 forum users

Ways to achieve consistent sound levels across presets?

Do what, at what? It has what? If I'm finding the constant questions about what is or isn't in the Stadium, requests for features, formats, new versions and (updates?) inane - I'm not sure how I'll go once its released and the forums/fartbook become a cesspit of RTFM questions. A few more months to train my eyes to roll 360 degrees and my fingers to keep off the keyboard. :)

Hi - I made this ages ago, and will have changed it lots since then, but its a mulitple amp, multiple cab set-up that you can use as a starting point. When you try to change things, if it looks like you can't use an amp you want to try, delete effects on the line the amp is on until DSP is freed up. Likewise for cabs. https://line6.com/customtone/tone/5531740/

No issues here (Australia) so likely something your end, or a resolved issue.

Yes to all of the above. The linked does the following: https://line6.com/customtone/tone/6575943/ Snap 1 Variax only for accoustic with some IRs and PC+ set to flat Snap 2 variax + mags - seperate amps for each - a speaker model for each of 2 x C+ Snap 3 Variax only - single amp out to 2 different speaker models Snap 4 different variax - single amp to 2 different speaker models again There is a lot changing with each snapshot so you need to check all the paramters for changes to find whats going on. Note I have not tested this so it might sound ship, just had a base patch I coupld adjust to demo the concept. Re pops on snaps - it has somethign to do with how the chnages in snaps are processes. From what I remember the changers occur in serial (1 at a time) not parellel (all at once) and very quickly so you can sometimes hear an amp ramping up gain or other weird noises as popping and other atifcacts. I've fixed it in the past by recreating the changes in a snapshot in a different order - they are stored as they are changed and processed the same. Alternatively using gain as the control to let sound through or not, or turning amps etc on and off rather than changing volumes.

I'm a variax user and would never be brave enough to dissect one but I think you'll find the whole box and dice too integrated to just have a knob. As far as I can see you'd need: a PCB board with all the processing a network type connection wired for the variax and to carry power the knob(s) you want And even then I have no idea if the board etc would work without a whole range of other inputs it expects. So short answer is I think its unfeasible. If you want a definitive answer join the "Line 6® HELIX® Family User Group OFFICIAL and ORIGINAL" group on facebook and shout out to "Partev Sarkissian" he knows more about this stuff than anyone (tech for L6). On the use of the expression pedal - have you tried playing with the pedal's paramters to refine its outputs so you get the outcome you want?
