  1. IT WORKED! THANKS rd2rk! Those two screenshots gave me enough to work with. It didn't take long at all, I just didn't get to it until a bit ago. I started with your 2nd screenshot and sharing permissions, changing it to 'Turn off password protected sharing'. Then mapped two drives on each PC to the other. They come up every reboot! It's a hack relative to what you should be able to do, but it works and that's all that matters to me. This isn't a bad approach anyway for security. Unless you have the need why open up to sharing any more than a couple folders to transfer files or access across two PC's? WINDOWS 10 Ridiculous. Why in the hell could I see both PC's across each other, then only one across both, and then none across both, and then one across both, when all I'm doing is rebooting?!? The mapped drives come up every time. Win10 is solid in many ways on the surface but when you have to go under the hood it is schizo. They have lost control of their selection options and dialog boxes under the hood in trying to make a one-size-fits-all OS. It all went to hell when they starting building for tablets. I've been using PC's since the 486 and 3.1 and they have artifacts from every OS under the hood, depending on what you click on. I see Win 3.11 dialog boxes, Win 2000 etc. And the interface makes no sense, using mouse settings as an example. It starts with what I call the 'soft' tablet-type selection screens. But if you want to do anything that matters you always end up at the ancient, but functional, old mouse panel by selecting 'additional mouse options'. Why wouldn't MS just standardize all this stuff in one upgrade? STEPS I USED You know this but I wanted to post the basic steps I used, based on your feedback, to note it here for others. And so I can reference it again! :) **Share a Folder** Pick a folder on PC1 In this case PC1 = 'Music' Give access to> specific people> Everyone> read/write **Map Network Drive** On PC2 In Explorer: select 'map network drive' in top ribbon Select an available drive letter If folder name is 'Transfer2' on Computer named 'Music', then; \\Music\Transfer2 https://imgur.com/a/WmFCzlK
  2. "You don't want to un-wire your network" "Rule #1 of optimizing for audio applications is TURN OFF WIRELESS!" ------------------------------------------------------------------- I 100% agree, and that's why it was a stop-gap troubleshooting test, when I'm at a loss. Thanks for your feedback and I'll take another shot tomorrow.
  3. Thanks for your reply. I was excited when I saw it, and ready to give you a thorough take of where I was until I logged in today and found; 1) Both PC's could see 'PC1' but neither PC could see 'PC2', in networking 2) Both were there last night and I didn't change a thing 3) I did multiple reboots and now neither PC is showing up on the other Instead of ranting more and pulling my hair out, I'll respond to your questions as best I can. -My user account is an Admin account on both (Imgur pics below) -I do not login. Both boot right into Win10 I have 2 practically identical PC's (i7 Intel CPU on both; ASRock mobo's; Nvidia Cards; lots of RAM; updated drivers) -Both are connected to a Comcast Router with 50' network cables -I keep Win10 updated -Network drivers are updated (via Windows) Last night, I 'Network Reset' on both and made them both 'Visible' -And I could see 'PC1' and 'PC2' on both. Today, as stated above, I could see 'PC1' on both but now neither. I'm starting to think it's the; -Way I login -Cable length of 50', or the; -Comcast router not handling the Win10 PC networking well, but how would that account for a PC not seeing itself in Networking when it has been made visible? Tonight I'm going to try; -Connecting both PC's with WiFi -Putting a router between them and the Comcast router Thankfully, I still have a full head of hair. Well the pic file size limit was a disaster so here's a series of pics on Imgur, for reference. https://imgur.com/a/ZSrEU4t
  4. Again, curiosity, as I have not been a big effects user through all my guitar playing years. Most ever at once was a Dunlop Wah, Tube Screamer, Line 6 Delay, and Carl Martin Compressor. Are there other big name effects that aren't included because of DSP use?
  5. If I understand, you want to switch between 2 delay settings with one footswitch, correct? If so, in this video Steve Sterlacci shows how to setup one button to swap presets or snapshots using 'Command Center'. You basically have one button on preset A that points to Preset B, and the same button on Preset B points to Preset A. Sorry if this missed the target.
  6. I can't speak to the accuracy as Pearl Jam isn't my thing but I searched 'helix pearl jam evenflow preset' and here are some links. I do think the first one is better overall in quality.
  7. I hope it doesn't break rules to ask, but does anyone have a recommended forum or two for PC troubleshooting help? I'm pretty good with PC's but I haven't had a need to network in years and am having a hell of a time getting two Win10 PC's networked. I dabbled at times trying just a little but since I didn't have the need, I wouldn't push too hard. I think I've cleared up what could have been causing issues(wireless router for VR in between one PC's wired connection, other PC WiFi) and think I am in a good spot but don't want to move forward with out good advice on the best way to network them without opening up security holes. I reset both network configs selecting the 'Network Reset' from the 'Network Status' panel, and the two PC's can see each other, but I am at the point where it is asking for credentials; login/password, and I do not want to make these 'Microsoft Account' machines, so I'm hoping you can setup unique credentials just for networking. Both PC's are now wired directly into the Comcast router.
  8. Yes, it was just a curiosity. I don't have a favorite that was left out. Thanks for the response.
  9. And most delays as well? Are reverbs just fairly generic and not very unique?
  10. Which is what they do lay out in the video, but you said it in seconds instead of 15 minutes. Their summary was that the the 'Heir Apparent'(Prince of Tone) is a perfect replica of each side of the 'Tone Sovereign'(King of Tone), and not an accurate replica of the cheaper one, to be used precisely this way; as you might have used the two sides of your KoT. Let me just add... I understand the reason, but I hate the cutesy names they use and the fact you have to decode the amps, FX, etc. Whew. Glad I got that off my chest.
  11. Just wanted to thank Porky_Pie for sending me the preset and IR. I gotta say, this is the best damn forum. Not a ton of activity, but what activity there is matters, most of the time. The names that are always chiming in and willing to help; R2D2, Shiny_Head, Amsterdam guy, Squirty, Phil_harmonic, and so many others! ; ) I apologize if I left you out. This was off the cuff, tongue in cheek, and I've only been hanging here since March. I've been spending a lot of time here just reading people's issues and the solutions provided as I think it will serve me well as I dig deeper into the Helix. Thanks all!
  12. Excellent point. And one that should be obvious, though you're assessment never even popped in my head when I read the original post, because I just thought of 'classic rock' in my head. Note: it sounded like Ted Nugent circa 1975. Yeah, I know. He played a Byrdland. I might still forget, but out of respect for those willing to invest their time helping you, everyone should learn to elaborate with a few more specifics when asking for help, and that is always the case no matter the subject, without creating a word salad.
  13. That's a well done video. I really like how they put it together. The comparisons, the multiple views. It also bummed me out that I cancelled my KoT order after being on the list for 1.5 years when my time came as I felt I didn't need it any longer, not realizing I could have likely sold it for more. D'oh!
  14. Thanks and sure. I'd like to get a good acoustic sound going.
  15. So I have a Tele that has a Fishman Powerbridge with a stereo out I use to split and run Electric>FX>Amp, and Piezo>LR Baggs Para Acoustic>PA, with a mix knob between the normal two Tele knobs. It sounded AMAZING when playing, especially with a slight mix of both, but I stopped using it live years ago because of cables, setup etc, when it wasn't my main. Reading someone else's post today I realized 'HOLY CRAP', I think I can so much more easily do this into the Helix! But I have no idea what to setup for acoustic/piezo and I've barely begun on Helix, so I wanted to ask if anyone could make a basic recommended setup for the two paths. I don't need electric FX or amps, but do need; 1) Piezo chain recommendation 2) Front-end/in setup for both 3) Backend/out setup for both 4) But feel free to make any other recommendations! Also a question or two; 1) Should I split the stereo cable and run into two 1/4" inputs (a little more cumbersome) or; 2) Just use the stereo cable into one stereo input, and split the path internally in the Helix? (one cable) My Helix output goes into either a PC112+, a Fishman SA330x or a JBL LSR305 w/sub monitor system. If it works for one it works for all three, I have found. EDIT: Is there a preset that is already setup for this? I don't mind tweaking at all. I just need a little help to get started.
  16. Just a WAG here as I am 0.01% into learning the Helix but a constant theme I have seen is many of the presets we can download are built for stereo and if you run mono out 1) They are not going to sound as good and 2) you need to make changes to the preset or they will sound pretty bad, usually because of the L/R mix balance they used on FX like delay. If you are running them in stereo, nevermind.
  17. I was smiling as I read through this and you summarized why at the end! I can relate. That is cool though and makes sense. Gives you a chance to get it right through averaging. That can certainly help someone like me who can get something like this wrong when only doing two, and would start over.
  18. Hey Metallikid, you probably want to ask on his Youtube channel where he posted this. Though some folks here can probably answer it as well. I just wanted to note this as it seems like you were asking me and I'm not Steve. " Also I see in the HX Edit screen the Mode/Tuner/Tap switches are showing, can those be moved/changed or are they hardcoded?" Steve did note in the video it seems those two can't be changed.
  19. I have to say, as a new Helix user, I feel extremely fortunate this has been included. The one thing I had felt with this floor unit; the only real limitation I had experienced so far, was the limitation to button assignments, and the vision I had, and their options did not meet that vision, but this does. Basically it was "why doesn't something this advanced just to allow you to assign anything you want to any button?".
  20. I'm not Steve Sterlacci but this new feature with 2.9 seemed pretty powerful. If I am grasping correctly you can now set your 10 buttons to anything, in each preset.
  21. I just wanted to pass on a solution that worked for me when I found a normal 20' USB wasn't working between my PC and my Powercab. I ended up getting a 25' repeater and it has worked great. I've tested it on the Helix, The Powercab and even used it to update my Alesis drum kit last night, and it worked great. The Alesis update was quite large with multiple stages and it worked perfectly. I wont link as this post isn't to sell a cable but the brand is Tripp Lite.
  22. Off-Topic from original: this is on Lyric/Chord sheets on a tablet Thanks both. I did start researching and did not realize this was out there. My binder and Word docs printed have served me well but it might be time to move on. I like the idea of the lyrics being larger and scrolling, instead of having three verses and a chorus, sometimes with chords, on one sheet of paper. I will give OnSong and Ultimate Guitar a look. Ultimate might not work for me as I do have chords for probably half of my songs and they will often be in a different key; unless they are advanced enough to allow key selection that auto-switches chords. Time to get a new iPad I guess. I gave my iPad4 away in November to a good cause. Silverhead: "downloaded to your iPad". Is this through iTunes? I only ask because I try and avoid it at all costs. I'm a PC person and just got the iPad for convenience, but will probably go with one again as I have found Android to be more fickle.
  23. Off topic, but can I ask how you use the iPad for lyrics; reading them as you play along? Is their an app or something that would scroll them? I'm just looking for ways to have lyrics I can read along to as I sing instead of my binder with printed letter size sheets.
