  1. i've read good and bad. i would change the tube. get the amp biased. http://www.marshallforum.com/workbench/22928-blue-glow-vacuum-tube.html
  2. that would do it. but doesn't the amp have built in fx
  3. yo, that's alright man, you should hear what the people i know say sometimes. i really think that's one of the reasons i'm divorced
  4. it looks like the problem is solved with the homemade bellows in the old thread you posted. try that
  5. not to take away from your problem, the C actually means capacitor. there should be 2 legs on it, one positive and one negative. the positive leg should be marked in some way. in this case it looks like the paint on top marks the positive leg. the board should also be marked with a (+) sign. if it was mine i would match up the signs and solder it in. is it still under warranty?
  6. just to corroborate i use the 21 first when i registered. at least that's the way it appears on my account page. was your pod all packed up nicely like it was unopened? hopefully they didn't sell you one that was returned and the guy already registered it. does every thing else work? you know check for updates and stuff like that there? go back to sam ash and tell them so you don't get stuck trying to figure this out. you still have a couple of weeks for the return policy.
  7. "Yeah, it was f'ing cool to be there that day.." i bet it was!
  8. if there's enough old wire, do it that way. use shrink wrap tubing to insulate the connection. rubber tubing that you slip over the wire before soldering, then slip over the soldered connection and heat it until it shrinks. if you feel you can solder directly. it would be better. then there's no need to insulate the soldered wires. i don't know your situation, what it looks like. how much room you have. is it a ribbon (wires joined together) or individual wires? if it's a ribbon, it would be easier to solder directly to the board since there is little space between the wires. but practice soldering before you attempt anything until you are comfortable. or you can leave it. if you start to have issues, then solder. soldering is easy if there's enough room to work. watch some youtube vids. there's plenty of them on there. one other point i'd like to make. if it aint broke don't fix it!
  9. soldering's easy. heat the wire, touch the solder to the wire where the iron meets the wire. done. get some wire and practice. you probably need a spectrum analyzer to measure the loss, if any
  10. i really appreciate the video and i'm sorry to say with the age and the audio recording, not to mention the english accent, and my bad hearing, i really couldn't understand the dialog. speech on recorded media is very difficult for me to hear correctly, so i use closed caption. the closed caption on you tube uses voice recognition, which doesn't work well. :) frank
  11. don't know much about that but line6 gear doesn't like to many usb-midi devices except for m-audio midisport uno. can't you upgrade using usb?
  12. i'm just tired of people posting on here saying they can't get the sound/tone/effect or whatever from the pods; old or new. then say. 'i'm gettin' this 'cause it's better', comparing line6 stuff to _______ (fill in the blank). why do they compare _______(fill in the blank) to line6 stuff? i'll tell you why. because line6 stuff is good. the stuff people compare it to because that's the standard. if you go to other gear sites line6 is there somewhere getting beat by their members. and stop comparing a $500 piece of gear to a $2000 piece of gear. would you rather hear me play through my gibson 30w goldtone and my 40w fender deville or van halen play through a pignose. find something that costs $350 new like my hd bean, yeah i got a discount, then compare that to the hd bean. man, i like posting on the web, people have to listen and they can't interrupt :)
  13. "in the following video Guthrie Govan (monstrous incredible player) speaks about how to get a Robben Ford (one of my favorite guitarists) guitar sound" it's a guy who visits this forum. i want my own sound
  14. lol, just wanted to see how to give a correct answer
  15. the amp model could be saved with the volume too high
  16. which amp? boost the volume with fx.
  17. although your fix may hold permanently, you could lose something regarding response if you don't solder. ten bucks will get you an iron and solder
  18. just to clarify things "tone is in the fingers" isn't my quote' i heard it from a prominent guitarist. and when you play all over the world, i'll pay attention.
