  1. What's with every thread saying something is Lollypop. Is this some new adjective that only gets used on Line6 forums ?
  2. What didn't work right ? Some details are needed.
  3. Left Output from the PODHD to your amp. I wouldn't recommend using the headphone output.
  4. The PODHD is still supported. This is the Snicker's Bar thread for people whining about updates. Maybe if they ate a Snicker's bar they wouldn't be so whiny... But it gives me something to read while I wait for the snow to melt and the weather to warm up.
  5. There's no question that technique is very important, but so is tone. I've plugged into many an amp over the years and wondered why some amps have great sustain and some suck. Years ago, I played through some combo amp that was average at best and one night it had great tone and sustain that lasted forever. I remember thinking, why is it working so well tonight ? Same guitar, same songs, same band, same settings... It never did it again. One thing I like about the PODHD, it always works the same everytime. Of course having a pair of JCM900 heads I plug it into don't hurt either.
  6. I think there's several of you that need a Snicker's bar... cause your acting like divas.
  7. A lot of things can help or hurt here. Layering 2 delays with 250ms and 500 ms delay time. Compression both before and after the amp/cab model or even after the reverb. Resonance and EQ adjustments. Guitar pickups and string height. A trick I do for playing live is to place an additional compressor after the amp/cab model and adjust it where single notes sound just as loud as a full chord. This let's me cut through a mix and gives me a bigger sound for leads. Here's my patch. It may give you some ideas. http://www.childrenofthegraveband.com/BlackSabbath.hbe
  8. I've also found chaning the tone control capacitors can make a significant differane in tone. I have 2 guitars that are virtually identical with the same pickups (I have two of them for differant tunings). I couldn't get them to sound the same so one day I started checking everything and found the capacitor in one of them was completely differant than the other. This made a fairly siginificant differance once I matched them up between guitars. Problem solved. Talk about something that will drive you crazy... Was it better back in the day when I just plugged into an amp ?. Oh hell no. It was a pain in the !@# back then and I had to buy a bunch of pedals with crappy transistors in them that sucked, hummed, and squeeled with wires everywhere. If guitar was easy then we wouldn't have people calling themselves musicians who make funny noises from a record player. That's my grumpy old man post for the day...lol
  9. Elton John may never give up his real Grand Piano but he doesn't have to lug it around himself either...lol. I look at it this way. If it takes a professional recording engineer/guitarist to be able to tell the differance, that's good enough for me. Can it be better ? always....
  10. That's exactly what they did. I saw they same video then did it on the PODHD and tied it to the expression pedal. It's a nice effect.
  11. Bifocal glasses might have worked too. I'm not far behind you in age and eye sight...
  12. Although I agree that modelling is not as good as a real amp, we perform for the average listener that can't tell the differance. Which is why I use a hybrid of PODHD and real Marshall amps. For me, the combination is better than either by itself. My friend who has an AXE FXII does and says the same thing. He's the one who recommended this particular setup to me. As far as something sounding good one day and bad the next. That's happens with audio and ear fatigue too. I don't know how many recordings I've mixed that I thought sounded great then came back a few days later and said "What was I thinking, that sucks".
  13. Yes there will be more and better Amp models. We just don't know when, what, or who will make them. Seriously, don't even bother asking about it. Line6 is better than the NSA at keeping things secret. But I guess that's not setting the bar very high...

ok I'll go with it. I think Smartphones are the leading cause of ADD in young people. Advanced Dumbass Disease.

    Done

The original topic of this thread is "Done". After reading the posts here I would have to say the topic is "Overdone". I can't even remember what was trying to be discussed.
  16. Turn down gain and use more compression. Too much of either is a bad thing.
  17. I have a JCM900 and 2x12 1936 cab. I compared it to the JCM800 in the PODHD, can't remember which cab I used, I think it was the XXL 4x12 with 4038 ribbon mic. I just remember, blindfolded it'd be hard to tell a differance.
  18. Low Freq Cut, Resonance, Treble, and Presence are the four controls I use when I have a tone that's close but isn't quite what I want. Not sure what you're looking for but hopefully this helps somehow.
  19. edstar1960 gave an exceptional list of things to do. However, my first thing to try would be set your output to Studio/Direct and start there.

http://www.ChildrenOfTheGraveBand.com/BlackSabbath.hbe This is the main patch I use for my Black Sabbath Tribute band. I use DiMarzio Super Distortion pickups and run the PODHD Studio/Direct output in stereo to the Effects return of a pair of JCM900 Marshall amps. It has a nice stereo effect with live performances. I don't use the 4cm method. It may give you some ideas for things to try when you build your own tones. I learned some interesting things with compressors that help solos cut through a mix.
  22. The effects chain you posted is typicall.
  23. Angel. I only do heavy metal.
  24. But if you're going for the $1500 Marshall amp sound, with a handful of effects for about another $700, the PODHD is a great deal. Then throw in the convenience factor and, well, here we are. Oh and I can still hit a button and imitate the $500 Fender amp too. Now if I was touring all over the world, playing huge venues, and flying on my personal jet, would I use the PODHD or any modeler ? Noooooooooo. I would have my sound engineer and guitar tech build me the perfect sound using all the best gear and my roadies lug it around every where I went. Oh darn it, I woke up from this dream again...lol
