  1. I'll try the 50hz setting and see of it changes anything. Not going to reflash anything until I get my new unit in place. I'm hoping it's just the power supply. I'll know in a few days when the new unit comes in. Gott'a have backups of everything anyway. I'm lucky in the fact that's it's still useable and could do my gig today. Just has that 60hz hum that drives me crazy in between songs. It's not terrible, just annoying.
  2. Cables and amps are working fine. When I hooked up my POD 2.0 in place of the PODHD it was the normal dead quiet. Even then I swapped out cables with the PODHD just to make sure. I'll pop it apart and see if I can find anything obvious. I checked the voltage on the PSU and it was a perfect 9volts. I went ahead and ordered a new PODHD. When it comes in I'll know if it's the power supply or the actual unit itself. I think the outlet I plugged into when it got zapped had the white neutral wire going to earth ground. I've seen this before and that was the problem. I need to start bringing my outlet tester with me again.
  3. At my last gig, I must have run into some bad electrical wiring and my PODHD and amp had a bad 60hz hum. I didn't think much of it, although one of my bass player's pedals shocked him and it blew out. When I got home I set everything back up and still had the 60hz hum. So I plugged in my old POD 2.0 to see if the amp still had the hum but it was perfectly quiet. I guess the PODHD or it's power supply got zapped - damnit. Guess I'll be buying another. I used to think my POD 2.0 sounded pretty good into my amp but after using the PODHD for a few years and getting my sound tweaked just right, it was no comparison. I'd rather use the PODHD with the hum until I get another one than go back to the POD 2.0. btw - if anyone has any suggestions for how to fix the newly found 60hz hum, I'm all ears.
  4. I use 32k. I found that a lower Input Z reduces the treble and fizziness. But it's based on your guitar, effects chain, amp, and speakers.
  5. Stumblinman, I laughed so hard I blew soda all over my screen. I have to make sure to not drink anything while reading posts here.
  6. As a former programmer, yes anything can be done, they should have done it from the start, and I'll bet it was discussed heavily. But this is not like programming for the Mac, Unix or Windows. It's a specialized processor which can be a pain in the arse. Line6 made a design decision based on time and money. Hey, it's a business... I personally would still like a nice normal Global EQ but we'll see what other cool stuff they come out with. Being somewhat old school, I learned that EQ is one of the most important things with tone. I do appreciate Digital_Igloo posting a response to this question a while back.
  7. Analog has always sounded really good. It's just expensive, cumbersome, noisy, and a general pain in the arse. Digital is trying to sound as good as analog without the baggage. Each digital generation gets closer to this goal which makes the previous generation obsolete and unwanted.
  8. X3 will be easier to use but the PODHD will sound better, not that the X3 sounds bad by any means.
  9. I think everyone needs to re-read rogur203's post and this last one. If you still don't understand then you need to practice your guitar more and not post until you do understand. Not that practicing the guitar will help you understand, it's just something to do until you do understand.

I wondered if anyone would catch it...
  11. Where have you heard that something is coming for the pros ? I haven't seen anything here except it has a lot of life left in it.
  12. Thanks again DI for the response. That's a better explanation than I could have asked for and I'm very appreciative. It's still on my wish list just because EQ has a large effect on tone. The PODHD has ways to get us there, just in a different fashion.
  13. I had that problem until I set Input 1 to Guitar and Input 2 to Variax. The default is Input 1 and Input 2 to be the same and at high volumes it gave me a lot of feedback. Also try setting your Input Impedance from Auto down to 32k.
  14. POD cannot display values in HZ ? I could understand if the code would need a lot of expensive rewriting and regression testing for this. But I'm sure the POD is capable. However, no matter what the reason, it's good to know that this feature won't be available in the POD. Thanks, DI.
  15. EQ in HZ. Not that it's rarely discussed but we need to make sure this makes it in.
  16. Noooooo, please no more long drawn out speculation threads........... The only fact we have is the PODHD isn't going away and has plenty of life. That's good enough for me, thanks DI.
  17. I just hope a few people on here haven't hurt our communication with DI by assuming the wrong thing and reposting. That's why Line6 has to be so careful when posting on forums. DI, I understood what you were saying and I hope most people here did also. I appreciate your communications and hope it continues. I'm sure Line6 will let us know, if and when, any new updates are available for the PODHD as soon as they can.
  18. Sheeesh, are you guys that dense ?. Does Gibson or Fender or Ibanez only sell one high end guitar ? No, they try to sell some that are less expensive or have different features too. Do they release all their guitars on the same day every year ? I shouldn't have to answer that but I may have to for some of you guys. This is Business 101. I'm grateful for the post by DI to clarify things. Someone started this post by saying Don't Dump PODHD Custumers for Amplifi. They're not, but they do make other products.
  19. Digital_Igloo gave an excellent response to this thread. Couldn't have been anymore clear. Still seems like some people just don't get it. Oh that's right, we're guitar players.
  20. What's your budget ? Are we talking $200 or $1000 ? Is used an option ? You have 3 guitars and no amp. That was an Interesting decision. Like buying a car with no wheels. Sorry but I had to pick on you for that.
  21. My 2 cents. Disclaimer: What works for some people doesn't work for others. The PODHD amp models sound the best when using a power amp of some sort. When using them into a guitar amp's input and not an FX loop it makes it difficult to use the amp models. The PODHD's effects can be used just fine into the guitar amp's input since that is just like using stomp boxes. This is why you hear a lot of people talking about the 4 cable method. This allows people to use the PODHD's stomp box type effects into the guitar amp's input and the amp/cab modeling into the power amp or FX loop. Since you don't have an effects loop in your amp you may not achieve what you're looking for when using amp/cab modeling. My suggestion is to use the PODHD stomp box style effects just like you would using real stomp boxes. Then afterwards try an get a better sound using the amp.cab modeling.
  22. Not 100% sure but I think if you pan the amp model to one side you may be able to do it. The PODHD bean basically uses both the inputs to emulate the 4cm method since it doesn't have an FX loop. If you don't pan the amp model to one side then it would be in the effect chain both before and after your real amp's guitar input. Might be an interesting effect but typically it's not done.
  23. I guess I'm on the side of guitarists that use the PODHD's amps/cabs modeling plus effects into a real Marshall amp and cab. Albeit I insert the PODHD into the FX return, so I'm actually only using the Marshall's power amp.
  24. It's been out for 4 years. I think that ship has sailed...returned home and sailed again.
