You can use a single amp/cab block for that combination, yes.
-
It shouldn’t be shutting off on its own... I’d see about exchanging it for a new one of i were you.
-
It’s just a ground loop. It’s quite common when you multiple ground paths running between two pieces of equipment.
-
So it can be used as part of a larger MIDI rig...
-
Do you have a 1/4" cable plugged into the Shuriken?
-
I'd also add that it's not like getting lost in the mix can't happen with traditional setups. I don't know how many times I've tweaked a distortion pedal to what I thought was perfection, only to have my guitar get lost as soon as I step on the pedal while in rehearsal. It can happen pretty easily.

I believe him insofar that he thought they sounded exactly the same... But they obviously weren't exactly the same. Our ears can be deceived pretty easily. I think the main thing is that if you're going to use a modeler, you need to have at least some ability to tweak and setup your tones in the context of playing with the rest of the band. It seems to me that was the thing that caused this guy problems. I'm kind of surprised that a band the was touring worldwide would ever introduce anything into the show that hasn't been soundchecked with the whole band numerous times.

STAGE SOURCE SPEAKERS DISCOUNTIUNED

Yep... Well, I have two of the L2t speakers, not the L3t, but, yes, it sounds great in stereo. -

Like I said, they've been wrong before... I trust Frank more than I trust them. I just messaged him on Facebook and he again assured me that they aren't being discontinued, and that Sweetwater is actually going to be ordering more. Your SW rep probably just sees what's in stock in their system, and they may have incorrectly tagged them as being discontinued... They should be getting more. The Stagesource stuff is still pretty popular with Helix users because of the L6 Link connection, so there's really no reason for Line 6 to stop selling them yet. -

No, it's not... Frank just said that the Stagesource speaker aren't being discontinued. He said nothing about future Line 6 products. I would have to agree with @silverhead, though, as far as future Line 6 PA products. I don't think there will be any more. First, Yamaha has a really deep and mature line of PA products. Also, Line 6 is primarily going to focus guitar products from now until the foreseeable future. If you have some of the Stagesource stuff already, you really shouldn't be hesitant about getting what you need to finish your system. The L6 Link functionality is still unique, and nothing else is going to give you that. I should also say that this isn't the first time that sales reps at retailers have been adamant that a product is being discontinued when it really isn't. I have seen a lot of these types of posts about the JTV Variaxes before... They've always been wrong, too (although, certain JTV finishes and SKUs have been discontinued over the years). -
STAGE SOURCE SPEAKERS DISCOUNTIUNED

I believe they cut the price awhile ago. The question as to whether they were being discontinued came up on the Helix Facebook group last week, and Frank Ritchotte, Line 6's Sr. Director of Operations, replied and said, verbatim, " Absolutely not discontinued gang. " He's a straight shooter, so I have no reason to not believe him. There might be some delay in production or something, but they aren't being phased out yet. You can also buy them direct from the Line 6 site: https://shop.line6.com/hardware/live-sound/ -
STAGE SOURCE SPEAKERS DISCOUNTIUNED

They haven't been discontinued. The sales reps for retailers often interpret something being unavailable in their system as it being discontinued. They are in stock at Musician's Friend: https://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/line-6-stagesource-l3t-powered-speaker?rNtt=l3t&index=1 I don't suspect you'll see any more Line 6 branded PA equipment after the Stagesource series, though. -
Discontinued Speakers LT3 etc??
phil_m replied to bobwysol's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
They haven't been discontinued. Where were you looking? -
If you have the 2.0 firmware loaded on the DT25, you can select "None" as the cab by sending the MIDI CC message associated with that. https://line6.com/data/6/0a06434df0f650914b2056015/application/pdf/DT Amplifier MIDI Implementation Guide - English ( Rev A ).pdf The other thing you could do is use Low Volume Mode and use take the output from the DT25's effects send into your cab loader. In Low Volume Mode, there power amp modeling applied to the preamp section. If you do this, though, you're not getting any actual contribution from the DT-25's power section.

It sounds like you need to put an FX Loop block in your Helix preset. Without that, the 4 cable method won’t work correctly.
-
Are you saying you only have something plugged into the right Aux In? Then, yes, you’ll only hear the signal from that input coming out of the right output in that case.
-
Yes, that is how it is now. In order for the Instant Commands to work properly, you have to have the EXT AMP command(s) assigned to footswitches as well. I believe they're planning to change it eventually, but they haven't yet. I think the Instant Command may works for turning on the drive channel when you change presets, like you said, but I think there's simply no command to shoot out the open state for the EXT AMP without having the footswitch assigned right now. It's on page 36 of the manual.
-
Seems like the gain staging is messed up somewhere. I wouldn't consider squealing to be a matter of headroom. It sounds like you're getting feedback. That usually means the volume for your pickups/preamp is too high and is picking up ambient noise from the PA system. Do you have the Stomp's ins and outs set to line level?
-
The Instant Commands will let you recall the state of EXT AMP footswitch per preset or per snapshot. That's the trick, though - you have to have the EXT AMP command assigned to a footswitch and as an Instant Command in order for it to work. And you have to have it in every preset. It sounds like you don't have the EXT AMP command set up in your clean preset.

Open a support ticket. Line 6 will send you a new one. This was a structural flaw that affected the housing of a small percentage of the first few batches of LTs. Line 6 has issued a lifetime warranty for LTs that have this particular issue.
-
The technical reason that I've been given for the XLR outs not liking phantom power is the anti-pop circuitry on those outputs.

There's a lot of confusion out there regarding levels and digital recording, and most of it stems from the fact that there's still a ton of people around who cut their teeth recording on 16 bit systems. So you still hear people talking about stuff that applies to 16 bit systems even though with 24 bit (or higher), it doesn't matter. In a 16 bit system, it was advantageous to have higher levels because you started to lose resolution with lower levels. This is still technically true with 24 bit systems, but within the range we're talking about, the difference in resolution is completely negligible. You don't really gain anything by recording a track a -12dB compared to recording it at -20dB anymore. In a very real sense, it's better to record everything a bit lower because it gives you more flexibility while mixing. I know people who are going to school for recording, and they're still being taught that they need to record so they are just below clipping... They spend forever setting input trims and messing with analog compressors before the converters (the compressors themselves aren't necessarily bad if you sure that's what you want). I just think people a lot of people are still clinging to this outdated information, and that's still be passed down as gospel to beginners... It's madness! :-)

I agree with the above suggestion. Try a Global Reset - hold down footswitches 9 & 10 while powering up. That's probably the best thing to do.
-
No... You can have 2 switches, 2 pedals, or 1 switch and 1 pedal. Those are the only options. To get more than that, you have to use a MIDI controller.
-
I believe it will send MIDI Note data. I think the only thing it won't send are MIDI Sysex messages.
