  1. Not being able to see an LCD or LED indicator in direct sunlight is simply a limitation of that sort of display. Making them brighter isn’t really going to help, s they’ll still get washed out. This happens with sort of similar screen. I have the Strymon Big Sky and its display is totally unreadable in direct sun as well... That’s just a fact of life with these sorts of devices.
  2. You could try just putting a Simple Delay block right before the FX Loop and bypass them both with the same footswitch.
  3. On the Helix, go to Global Settings>MIDI/Tempo and make sure that Receive MIDI Clock is set to Auto.
  4. That's not what he's asking... He basically wants to not have to use FS3 as the tap/tuner switch in every preset. This is a Global Setting, so right now it's not possible.
  5. Yeah... I liked the way the Brothers sounded, but ultimately, I didn't think it sounded much better, if at all, than the drives in the HX Effects. I thought it would be cool to control it via MIDI, and I did, but, man, having a bunch of MIDI pedals that are essentially black boxes as the presets go is hard. You'd almost need to set up and Excel spreadsheet to keep track of everything. That's something I have no interest in doing... The other thing that really annoys me about the CB pedals are the little dipswitches. I understand they wanted to have a bunch of parameters that could be edited, but they are a pain in the butt to actually move.
  6. I revised my HX Effects board once again over the weekend... I keep on getting rid of stuff, although I did make a few additions. I decided to take some of the things I had on my Stomp board and put them on this. I've found that I've been using my Stomp mainly as a standalone pedal when I use it, so this just makes more sense. I did have the Meris Enzo and Polymoon, the Chase Bliss Tonal Recall and Brother, and the Wampler Dual Fusion on here before. Those were all run through a Loop Expander and controlled by MIDI. I found, though, that the MIDI aspect just became too tedious for me to want to bother with it. Also, I found that I really like the dirt on the HX Effects just as much as the analog dirt. So what I decided to do was to use the DMC.micro as two additional stomp so I can control two dirt blocks in each HX Effects preset. That way I can focus my snapshots on everything else. This will be much nicer once 2.8 comes out with the whole snapshot ignore feature thing. So here it is. This is the first time my board has been 100% digital, well, maybe ever.
  7. You can adjust the playback volume from your computer by going to Global Settings>Ins/Outs>USB In 1/2 Trim. Are you using the Line 6 driver or the Core Audio drivers on your Mac?
  8. Lol... What does this mean? It could be taken either way, really.
  9. I've been using Reaper with Helix for almost four years now... If you're getting clicks or artifacts during recording it usually means there's buffer underruns happening in your system. Those are usually caused by other hardware interrupting the audio streaming. If you download and install Latencymon, it will tell exactly where the conflicts are happening and what you should disable while recording. https://www.resplendence.com/latencymon
  10. It shouldn’t be happening. Open up a support ticket, and Line 6 will either fix it or send you a replacement.
  11. There were four effects added in the 2.6 update: Distortion > Deranged Master (Mono, Stereo), based on* the Dallas Rangemaster Treble Booster—WARNING! Like the real thing, this model can take your head off! Works best before a distorted amp Distortion > Deez One Vintage (Mono, Stereo), based on* the BOSS© DS-1 distortion pedal (classic Made-in-Japan version) Distortion > Deez One Mod (Mono, Stereo), based on* the BOSS© DS-1 distortion pedal (Keeley mod version) Looper > 1 Switch Looper (Mono, Stereo), Line 6 original (doesn't leave Stomp mode)
  12. The MIDI Mongoose is a very limited MIDI controller. It only sends PC messages, so the only thing you could do with it is select presets on the Stomp. The Disaster Area Designs DMC.micro is a pretty versatile 2-button control that will let you do a variety of things. It has several different modes, and it's kind of up to you how you want to use it. It goes for $99.
  13. Well, there's still the Roland VG stuff, which is in practice, more similar to the Variax, but it depends on external gear (for the most part). I think the overall market for this kind of tech is still relatively small, so it could just be that companies don't see a huge incentive to invest R&D into an area where they would have trouble recouping an investment. In some ways, it's remarkable that the Variax ever came into existence in the first place just because of the ambitious nature of it. I don't think a lot of people actually appreciate the real risks Line 6 has taken over years.
  14. You can download and load tones from Customtone using the PC editor. There is no tone cloud support on the PC editor, though.
  15. Yes, you can do that. You need to go to the Command Center and assign the EXT AMP command to a footswitch. Additionally, you need to assign the EXT AMP command to one of the Instant Commands (the lighting bolt icons). Then you can set the state of the footswitch how you want it in each snapshot, and your amp will change channels accordingly.
  16. Yes. You can assign a MIDI command to a Stomp Switch in the Command Center. Yes, you can do this with Snapshots and Instant Commands. You can have up to six Instant Commands in a preset, and you can have those sent out on a snapshot per snapshot basis.
  17. Go to Global Settings>MIDI/Tempo and set PC Send to Off. That will make it so the PC messages associated with each preset are sent automatically when you change presets.
  18. Seems like you may have more luck using an external expression pedal to the left of the Helix for you wah solos... I'm able to fit two of the Mission Engineering EP1-L6 pedals in the front pocket of the Helix backpack along with cables and other stuff pretty easily.
  19. You have to use the remote app to move your presets around on the Firehawk.
  20. Oops... I swear I thought it said it was a bass...
  21. Sounds like may be clipping the input. Are you using the Guitar In? You could try turning the pad on in the Global Settings menu, but if that bass has a really hot output, which it sounds like it does, you may be better off using the Aux In. It was designed to handle active pickups. As far as the dry signal you record via USB, yes, it will be pretty low typically. Although, if it's really weak, you probably want to make sure the battery in the guitar isn't dying. Having the pick up fart out like you're describing is a symptom of a dying battery.
  22. Yes, ground loops can happen relatively easily when using those sorts of adapters because there is a physical connection between the ground of the mixer. You may be better off using a DI box. One other thing to check is making sure that phantom power is off on the channel you're using. That in and of itself wouldn't cause a ground loop, but it can cause extra noise.
  23. You have to go to Global Settings>Footswitches and change the function of FS3 there. That controls what the function of FS3 will be in Stomp Mode.
  24. Hold both buttons down at the same time for a few seconds, and you can change them back to Bank Up and Down. There are three possible functions for those switches Bank, Preset or Snapshot Up/Down. Holding them down together for two seconds scrolls between the different functions. You can also set the function of those switches by going to Global Settings>Footswitches>Up/Down Switches.
