  1. The thing is that expectations play a huge part in these sorts of things. If you play something and expect it to sound a certain way, that is often what you'll hear. It's called confirmation bias. Really, the only proper way to do this sort of comparison is a true blind test, and that's darn near impossible to do on your own. I've heard clips comparing real amp to the Line 6 modeled ones, and they get very, very close. When Line 6 had the "Helix Challenge" up on their site, 50% of the people guessed which was the real amp and which wasn't... That's basically what you're looking for in a modeling scenario - the guess rate is the same as chance.
  2. The one fuzz model, the Industrial Fuzz, which is based on the Z-Vex Fuzz Factory, has an oscillator that can be turned on and off, and I guess you could call the sounds you get from it ambulance-like. But it doesn't sync to the tap tempo... So I'm not sure. What do you have the HX Effects connected to?
  3. Well, it's a matter of hardware, not firmware. As to why Line 6 doesn't use the TRS expression pedal scheme, I'd say it goes back to the very beginning when they launched the DL4 and the other 4-button stomps. Those pedals used a TS expression pedal, so they've decided to be consistent with all their products since then.

    HX Stomp

In Stomp Mode you can, but you can't in Snapshot or Preset Mode.
  5. I wouldn't expect the update to break the previous functionality. What the update is doing is adding another way to access the momentary/latching functionality of the switches. Right now it's only possible if you have a block assigned to a switch, but in the future, you'll be able to do it without having a block assigned and just a command. There's no reason for the update to get rid of the current behavior, though. It's not a bug. It was just a limitation that they decided to address.
  6. Do you have the loops in a parallel path, per chance?
  7. USB is a host/slave protocol. You can have multiple slave devices hooked up to one host (your computer is typically the host), but you can't have multiple hosts connected to a single slave device. So, in short, no this won't work.
  8. Yes, they’re adding CC Toggle, CV Toggle, and EXT AMP Toggle as actual commands in the Command Center. So you won’t have to do the workaround I mentioned.
  9. I’ve had no issues with HX Edit and Windows 10... I’ve pretty much been using Windows 10 ever since I first got my Helix.
  10. The Marshall JVM410, for instance, has 128 preset slots, so you could recall a the preset on the amp that corresponds with the PC# associated with each Stomp preset you select. Something like the Voodoo Lab Control Switcher could also be used this. So rather than being able to select a specific preset when loading a preset on the Stomp, the one that corresponds to the PC message associated with that Stomp preset would always be loaded on the device(es) you're controlling. It's a very basic form of MIDI control that's not nearly as flexible, but it may be an option for some people. Basically, when you change presets on the Stomp, you'd always be changing presets on the other devices, too. You could actually do this with the Powercab Plus and the Stomp. You almost have to think of the PC+ as a block that's part of the Stomp preset. It would always change presets when you change presets on the Stomp, but you could have a different speaker model or IR saved in each PC+ preset, and everything be changed in a parallel manner. This is the whole reason the Stomp sends any PC messages at all (not specifically for the PC+, but for the ability to have this sort of parallel preset change setup).
  11. It’s not a half truth... That’s why I said it depends how it’s set up. Some amps have a “learn” function that enables them to associate what channel to change to whenever they receive a particular MIDI PC message. That’s the scenario I was thinking of. Also, if all you want to do is have presets change together in a parallel fashion, it is possible to use the Stomp as a rudimentary control. Generally speaking, though, the Stomp was designed to be controlled by MIDI, not be a controller itself.
  12. No, the HX Stomp doesn't have the EXT AMP feature found on the other devices. If you have an amp the has MIDI control, you may be able to do something, but it depends on how it's set up.
  13. Well, he said people should curb their enthusiasm... There's still some cool stuff in 2.8.
  14. Have you opened up a support ticket here? https://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html Where are you getting the minimum two week turnaround time from?
  15. I believe Line 6 has been replacing units for people who've had the problem. So I'd say if you have a broken USB port, open a ticket even if you are past the warranty period. The street price for the G10S is $250, and I believe it will be shipping immediately: https://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/line-6-relay-g10s-wireless-guitar-system
  16. Ah, the musician voting block... well-known for their ability to make it to the polls... :- )
  17. 5 years old? How do you figure that? The Helix and Helix Rack were announced in June 2015 and started shipping in the fall of that year. So it's really just going on 3.5 years since then. They obviously just launched the HX Stomp, which is based on the Helix platform, so they have no plans on moving on from that platform for awhile. It's going to be a matter of years before there something that replaces the Helix, not months. As far as the recent price increases, those are directly related to the Chinese tariff issue.
  18. The effects on the Stomp and HX Effects are exactly the same. The Stomp has amp modeling, and the HX Effects does not. Beyond that, there are the form factor and workflow differences, as well as difference in the ins and outs. The HX Effects can change channels on your amp, the Stomp can't, for instance. The HX Effects can also be used as a formidable MIDI controller, and the Stomp can't.
  19. Even if you had photographic evidence, you can't win with those sorts of people. Seriously - it's a knob... If telling him something like, "I usually keep at 12 o'clock" isn't good enough for him, tell him he just needs to get over it. The other thing is that there are plenty of other ways to adjust the volume in the Helix signal chain, so having the master volume knob at any given position doesn't really prove anything as far as your actual volume on any given night is concerned.
  20. When you hit the Save button, you'll see the screen. There's where you can change the Setlist and Destination you want to save the current preset to.
  21. Most likely you’re clipping your speaker’s preamp.
  22. I missed this thread somehow. Do you have the EXT AMP commands assigned to footswitches as well? They don’t work as Instant Commands unless you have the assigned to footswitches as well. What you’re talking about should be doable, though.
  23. Do you want a shelf or a drawer? How are you planning on keeping the control from sliding around if it's just on a shelf?
  24. Your Stomp is registered to your account?
  25. I think Mooer won't get another cent from me (I had some of their small pedals at one point)... Doing what they did with EHX and getting caught only means they're doing it for other things as well. There's too many honest companies making good products to justify supporting a company that's doing that sort of crap.
