Ah... I can't wait for the Andy Summers expansion pack...

So we're having threads about typos now? Still better than threads about the stupid Andy Summers tone... :D

The expression toe switch can't be used as a controller. It can only be used a bypass footswitch. So it won't show up on the Controller page; it only shows up on the Bypass Assign page. You can, however, use any of the expression pedals themselves to controll the bypass states of blocks by using the auto-engage functionality. So like I said, there's some redundancy built in with that switch because auto-engage lets you do stuff without using it. The one thing the switch does on the floor units is allow you to toggle the function of the on-board pedal between EXP1 and EXP2. On the Rack, though, you don't get that option.

Well, the reason you're getting the noise, most likely, is because you have multiple connections between the Helix and the computer. The USB connection from the Helix and the Rocksmith could easily cause a ground loop.
-
What are you wanting to do with the Rocksmith cable? It's just a 1/4" to USB interface, right? Just use the LT's USB audio. If you want a dry guitar signal, just choose USB 7 as your input.

Yep... The Mode switch always toggles between Preset and Stomp mode. The one wrinkle is you can have Preset Mode set up to be different things. It still works the same way. The other thing is, though, that there is another global setting that changes the way the function of these switches. You can set them to scroll between presets or snapshots. You can change the function of these switches by holding them down for 2 seconds. Sometimes, I think people accidentally do this when they're trying to get into Snapshot Mode (described on pg 54 of the manual). Everything is in the manual, it's just not necessarily all in the same place. A lot of this is described in the Global Settings section, and some of it is in the Snapshots chapter, but it's all there... I'm not ragging on you. The manuals are pretty deep. There have been times I've been convinced something isn't covered in the manual, but I've always been wrong when I've double-checked...

Well, I don't agree that snapshots seem like they were bolted on... They're actually way more powerful than Fractal's scene functionality. You can control up to 64 parameters with a snapshot change, not just a few scene controllers. Additionally, if you're controlling external pedals with MIDI, you can send out a slew of MIDI commands via snapshot changes... Snapshots were always part of the original design for the Helix. Anyway, as far as footswitch assignments, there isn't a mode where you can freely assign snapshots to any footswitch you want. There are really four different footswitch modes Stomp, Preset, Snapshot, and Looper mode (there's also Pedal Edit mode, which is its own thing). The Mode footswitch always switches between Stomp and Preset Mode. You can get into Snapshot Mode by pressing the two bank switches simultaneously (pg. 36 of the manual). This will show 8 snapshots. Another option is to make it so Preset Mode displays something other than 8 presets. Personally, I like to set Preset Mode to 8 Snapshots so I can just switch between seeing all my stomp switches and all 8 snapshots by just hitting the Mode switch. To change presets, I just hit one of the bank switches to get in the 8 preset view temporarily. All of this is in the manual, though...

That's the thing that's great about the Helix having an internal power supply - you can use any old IEC cable you want with it. There's nothing special about the one that comes with it. Most amps, powered speakers, and, well, most professional audio gear use these types of power cords nowadays, so it's a good idea to keep a couple extra in your gig bag if you're playing out a lot.

I've never played in a true cover band, so I've never even really thought about matching tones. If we're doing a song where there's some sort of signature effect, I will generally try to do that, but often times the bands I'm playing in will do covers more in a style that matches us rather than trying to do them as they were recorded. I don't know, I've never really had any interest in trying to match tones.

It doesn't look like there's a fixed MIDI map for the RC-505, so that means you can assign whatever CC you want to control the various functions. Again, though, you generally wouldn't use the Helix's MIDI CC Toggle command for this. You would just use a standard MIDI CC. The CC Toggle is for controlling effects that have a set range of values for on and another range for off. Like you might see a pedal that says something like CC#30, 0-63 off, and 64-128 on. That's what you'd use the toggle for. For everything just use the plain MIDI CC. That way whenever you step on that footswitch, that CC with that value gets shot out.

Well, that's and old firmware version, so I'd recommend installing the newest firmware as the first thing.

Perhaps you need to change the battery in your acoustic?

Yep, new reverbs definitely coming... Just not in 2.30...

The Native license isn't handled by License Manager... It's all just based on the number of authorizations on your Line 6 account.
-
Yes, that's what I was referring to... Anyway, I think the issue might be that you have to authorize your new iMac. You probably need to do a clean install of Native to do that.
-
Do you have your network adapter turned on?
-
You wouldn't need to use that jack for that... You could just use an expression pedal. The expression toe switch jack is TS and momentary N/O. It's normal use would be if you want to use the expression pedal to control a wah and have the toe switch turn the wah on and off. And actually, with the Auto Engage feature that was added, it's kind of redundant feature, but it could still be used as an extra footswitch for something.
-
Why on earth would Line 6 sunset it? It's still selling like hotcakes... There will be an update and it's going to be well before NAMM...
-
If you set the return to be at line level, it is essentially the same as the Aux In on the floor... The Aux In is a fixed 10kOhm input. The returns are 1MOhm at instrument level and 10kOhm at line level.
-
It's not affected by the internal signal chain at all. It just goes straight through to the main outputs. It is affected by the large master volume knob, though.

Which is why DI said this block wasn't a new effect, but rather just a "utility block"...
