I understand what this post is talking about, but to me, it kind of becomes something conceptually different than a snapshot once you start introducing more layers like this. I think the idea of snapshot is powerful because it's relatively simply to grasp on a conceptual level - most people can grasp the idea of freezing the bypass states and parameters of blocks and saving that data as a single collection of data. I think once you start adding to that, the complexity will start to increase quite a lot. I just see it leading to a lot of potential confusion down the road... I don't mean to be a downer (well, perhaps I do, I'm an engineer, so I always say crushing dreams is a big part of my job :D ...), but I guess I think there are a lot of ideas like this. They make perfect sense, and could be implemented, but they also might be a support nightmare. But, that's just my opinion... Vote it up if you like the idea!

Come to think it, yeah, I don't think the Helix has this setting... I read (or misread, I guess) that earlier comment on my phone, and I was thinking it was talking about this setting. But, you're right, there isn't a way to set the frequency like there is on the HD series. Not sure why they left it out. Perhaps they thought it was too esoteric...
-
Well, that's why that setting is there... If you're being pedantic, Line 6 was even more so...
-
This is correct... the Helix's power supply is auto-sensing and switching, so it works with any voltage from 120 to 240V.
-
When the next firmware update is released in a few days, all you'll need to do is turn on the MIDI clock transmit from the Helix over USB, and you'll be good to go.
-
I've not had it confirmed, but I'd be willing to bet the issue has to do with the auto-sensing feature on the Helix XLR outs that allows automatic summing to mono if only one XLR is used. No other Line 6 device has had this on its XLR outputs, and no other Line 6 device has had issues with phantom power.
-
It's interesting that with my Helix, on every board I've tried it on with phantom power being on, I never get a hiss as long as I have the ground lift on. I do, however, get quite a large amount of attenuation. I would bet it's about 12dB or so.

A little piece I recorded tonight... I started with this slapback sound I made on a Twin Reverb patch I have and went from there. This is using the Twin, the Matchless, and the Dr. Z models. All the guitars are my Am. Dlx. Fat Strat... Stock cabs except for the Dr. Z - I'm using the 3 Sigma Dr. Z 212 cab on it. https://soundcloud.com/phil-miller-20/catgrass

The Double Barrel only has one input and one output, and no remote switching capability, so apart from modifying the pedal in some way, there's not really any way you'll be able to control both switches with the Helix.
-
Would be worth opening up a support ticket for it even if it is out of warranty, imo... In the past if there have been things with systemic failures, Line 6 has taken care of them regardless of the warranty status.
-
There's no risk of damage to the Helix from phantom power.

If you press and hold the bank switches, you actually change their function rather than changing the footswitch mode. To change modes, you just have to hit both those switches once and release them. It sounds like you're probably holding them too long. If the scribble strips are blank, it means you're in stomp mode and have nothing assigned to the footswitches.
-
I think people are generally over-estimating the extent of units that have issues, but like anything like this the actual numbers are only going to be known by Line 6. This thread is only at three pages right now - very small compared to other things like this (the footswitches on the X3L, for example). If Line 6 gets a lot them back with this particular problem, I have to believe they'll change the way the input is being built at the factory. I mean, it makes absolutely no sense to believe that a company wants to have a bunch of unhappy customers and do a ton of warranty repairs or replacements. If the input is as sensitive as it's being portrayed, than I would imagine that would show up within the year warranty period under normal use.

Do you have the position parameter controlled to the correct EXP? You should see it moving when you move the pedal... If you don't, you could be turning the wah pedal on, but the position would be locked, so you'd just be hearing the nasally, locked-wah sound.

When will Line Monkey windows 10 for Spider V be released
phil_m replied to Doug_Gl_Phillips's topic in Spider V
Well, Line 6 Monkey was/is the original Line 6 app that handled firmware, driver, and other software updates for various Line 6 products. It has pretty much been replaced with the Line 6 Updater app now, at least for new products. It sounds like what you're asking for is an editor app that will work with the Spider V. Currently, the only editors are the tablet-based apps. Whether or not Line 6 creates Mac and PC editors for the Spider V remains to be seen. -
Do you have MIDI over USB turned on in the Helix?
-
100%, huh? I guess time will tell...
-
The Relay G70 and G75 units are built like tanks as well...

Fix will be coming in 2.20... Apparently this was a very difficult bug for them to reproduce and find, but last I heard they did finally figure it out.

It seems to me that the big difference between a device like the Helix and the Boss GT5 in regards to this sort of thing is that the Boss has a dedicated slot for reverb, so tying to a global control would be pretty easy to program. With the Helix, you can multiple reverbs per preset, and they can be in any position on any path... So it just seems like it would be tricky to sort through all of that. Would probably more doable to have something like a global reverb block that could persist through preset changes.
-
In what way are you wanting them to fix it in regards to that?
-
Gonna need a little more information here... What are you connecting to and what exactly do you mean by "auto preset changing"? The Helix responds to MIDI PC messages to change presets, so really, you just need a way to send those. But as far the "auto" part, I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to.
-
So if I'm understanding correctly, you (the OP) want to have a preset where you sometimes use at standard pitch and sometimes a half step up? I think I agree with the previous post that setting them up as two different presets is probably the simplest way to go. If you really don't want to do that, one workaround I could think of is assigning the mix control of the Simple Pitch block to an expression pedal and then make sure that EXP is set to per preset or global (not per snapshot). So you have the mix at 0 at the heel and 100 at the toe, and then if you want to shift the entire preset, including all snapshot, just move the pedal once. Since you wouldn't have the pedal set to per snapshot, the mix setting would survive snapshot changes. You would just leave the Simple Pitch block on all the time and never bypass it.

I must admit I don't hear much of a difference between most of them... The ones that stood out as being the most different to me were the 8th clips of the AC30 tone, and the 7th and 8th clip of the Litigator... The 8th AC30 clip seemed overly dull to me, and the 7th and 8th Litigator tones seemed nearly equally dull... This is listening though my studio monitors, fwiw. I don't know... I mean those are bright tones, for sure, but I don't find any of the irritatingly bright, I guess.
