  1. Why not put some clips up if it's so obvious? I guess I'm confused as to what your purpose was here... No one can help you diagnose anything without clips of some sort.
  2. With the combination of the Variax's down-tuning capabilities and the effects on the Helix, I imagine you could get a relatively convincing bass sound pretty easily. As far as a nylon string simulation, I don't know. You might be able to come up with some sort of emulation using a combination of IRs and effects. The Variax itself has never had an actual nylon string model. There was an actual nylon string Variax a while ago, though.
  3. Are you talking about the LEDs in the ring around the footswitch or the scribble strip backlight? There are actually multiple colored LEDs mounted under the rings, so it's possible that one of the diodes is less intense than the others. I'd say some amount of variation isn't unexpected, but if it's really dark, it's probably worth getting replaced.
  4. Glad it seems to have gotten sorted. I imagine that the number of users actually using the S/PDIF connection is relatively low. I've never used it on mine. So even though it's a bug that affects all units, the vast majority of users probably would never notice it because they haven't used the connection.
  5. What type of guitar/pickups? Do you have the input pad on? I have read some comments from people about certain amp models having some fizziness or hash, but that's generally not described as noise affecting the entire signal. It would be helpful if you could put up some clips, because otherwise we're all just guessing as to what it is you're actually hearing.
  6. I don't know... I've known many players who've bought amps and futzed with them for years trying to get them to sound the way they want. Whether that be replacing speakers, getting NOS tubes, replacing caps, etc. Many guitarists are generally not happy unless they're unhappy with their rig in some way it seems to me. Heck, when I owned an AC15, one the very first things I did was replace the speaker. Beyond the amp itself, look at how many pedal companies are selling dozens of variations of relatively simply OD and fuzz circuits, just because people are convinced they're missing out on something. The thing about the Helix, and really almost any modeler, is that it's meant to replicate a whole signal chain, not just the amp part of it. Personally, I don't find it that difficult to get some very good basic tones from the Helix, but I think that people need to have more than five minutes worth of patience with it, especially if they are new to the world of modeling. It's kind of like the people who start learning to play to guitar but give up because it hurts their fingers too much... Enduring a little pain is generally required to get good results in, well, almost anything worth doing.
  7. There never was a Preset Mode setting of "8 stomps". In order to eight (or 10) stomp switches, you need to actually be in Stomp Mode. Just hit the Mode footswitch while in Preset Mode, and you'll go into Stomp Mode.
  8. Hey, not exploding is a very desirable feature... :) When I was young, my parents had a Lincoln Town Car with all the electronic controls in the steering wheel (it was the early 90s, so that was still a big deal), and I'll never forget pulling into our driveway just as the steering started smoking...
  9. Just like with people, I've had both good and bad experiences with computers... Personally, I have Windows 10 on my DAW computer (an ASUS ROG laptop, fwiw), and I can't say I've had any real problems that I can think of (other than I wish I had a bigger SSD on it). I've had plenty of issues with software, though... Don't get me started on the joys of dealing with Autodesk.
  10. Not sure I get what you're saying... Are you saying there's a delay when switching presets? Or are you saying the footswitch is being unresponsive?
  11. The impedance of the Aux Is 10kOhm, so depending on the impedance of your guitar's output, that might cause some significant tone loss. Really hot active pickups will be OK. Passive pickups or low output active pickups will probably sound not so good.
  12. Yeah, double-tapping is probably the prescribed method. Funny, though, on my iPhone if I hold for three seconds that same window pops up. Perhaps it's related to the 3D Touch/Long Press features that came out with the iPhone 6s.
  13. Just tried it, and it seems both ways work, at least on the iPhone. Double-tapping is faster, though. And, actually it seems double-tapping anywhere along the parameter bar itself works.
  14. In the Spider Remote app, you just hold down on the "Position" parameter for a few seconds, and a dialog box pops up asking you if you want to assign that parameter to the expression pedal. I'm not sure about how to do it on the amp itself... I would need to dig into the manual for that.
  15. I have two things in mind... The first would be syncing my Strymon Mobius with the Helix automatically. Once the Helix is able to send MIDI clock, it will make it virtually seamless to use MIDI clock enabled pedals with the Helix. The other thing that would be nice is having the Helix sync automatically to Reaper when recording.
  16. Well the size limit per post is 2MB, I believe. I think there might be a max per account, so if you've posted a lot of attachments, maybe you're coming up against the limit... I don't know. It says I have 12.41MB left. I usually use external hosting for any photos I put up here, though.
  17. There are no drivers. Line 6 Updater should just recognize the G10. Are you using the latest version of Line 6 Updater?
  18. Well, the link you posted above doesn't work, but going through the widget here worked, at least for the Windows download. Which version are you trying to download?
  19. What is it you're wanting to do with the other side of the signal?
  20. Well, the third party content that's available for Kemper isn't really comparable to loading software on an iPhone... The profiles are using the Kemper building blocks (I believe Kemper uses seven basic gain structure frameworks for all its amp profiling), and they're using whatever IRs people. That's quite a bit different than offering something like VST loading. I suspect the main reason Line 6 doesn't want to down that road is simply because of the potential support nightmare it could become. If you load a third party VST on your Helix, and it bricks it, it becomes Line 6's issue. So it would require a lot of extra vetting and testing just to make sure such things work.
  21. Have you tried downloading and installing the latest version of Workbench (not Workbench HD)? They released a version that works for Windows 8. I believe that should still work for Windows 10.
  22. Totally possible right now. Got to Modulation > Stereo > Tremolo/Autopan, and put it before a split block with Path A and B hard panned, and send Path A to one amp model and Path B to another.
  23. No, the G10 simply sends one mono signal, not stereo.
  24. Yes, it can be assigned to any controller, including Snapshot Controllers.
