  1. I'm saying 11 doesn't belong to Avid anymore.
  2. I don't think Avid has anything to do with this... Avid sold M-Audio (along with its other consumer-facing brands) to InMusic back in 2012, I believe.
  3. The Line 6 guys did build a Helix prototype with a touchscreen, but found that navigation and tone-building was actually slower using it compared to the rotary knobs and joystick. If you think about it, it makes sense, because fine movement and control is still quite a challenge on a touchscreen. How many times do you have to hit a touchscreen if you're trying to do something relatively simple like moving the location of a cursor in a paragraph to a different place? There are some things touchscreens are great for and others not so much. The main thing I could see it being useful for in something like the Helix is moving blocks around the signal and perhaps selecting the blocks. I've got to say, though, after using the Amplifi, Firehawk and Spider Remote apps, I'm not so sure that would even be that much faster. Personally, I'd rather see someone develop an editor that could be used on an iPad. Even it had to be a tethered connection, that would still be useful. It would be nice to be able to have the editor open on an iPad mounted on a mic stand during rehearsals.
  4. Just to clarify - the EP1-L6 is the one without the toe switch. The EP1-L6H has the toe switch.
  5. Still waiting for some hard-hitting music journalist to write that article everyone is waiting for... "Modeler Tuner Shoot-Out 2017".
  6. No, you can't change amp models (or any models of block) with snapshots. It would kind of defeat the purpose of snapshots to a degree since changing the model would mean unloading the old amp and reloading the new one, thus causing an audible gap. Also, each amp model uses a different amount of DSP, so there's a good chance that not all amp models would work in a given preset. The Fractal AX8 has X/Y states for its blocks, which is kind of what you're talking about, although, each block can only call up of one of two things. You'll see though, that when people change out amps, it does cause an audible gap.
  7. Yes, for the delay time (or whatever parameter) to be synced to tap tempo it has to be set to a note value (not limited to just 1/4 notes).
  8. Helix is updated with the Line 6 Updater app. If you download the Helix app (the editor), you'll get Line 6 Updater, the Helix editor application, and the drivers (for Windows only) in the installation package. Helix is not supported by Monkey.
  9. Well, I'd trust the label on the power supply more than I'd care about what the box says. This is just a switching power supply, so it makes sense that it would work with a broad range of input voltages. I think you'll be fine without a transformer. EDIT: According to this article, the DC-1g is indeed universal, and will work without a transformer. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/general-faq/power-supplybattery-specs-and-faq-r445 Q: I am traveling overseas. How should I power my Line 6 device? A: You can buy any adapter that converts your country's power to these specs and it will work. Any electronics store in your country should be able to sell you one, or you can contact your local Line 6 dealer. Be aware that the DC-1g and DC-3g power supplies are “universal†across all voltage and power standards around the world, and you will only need the appropriate adapter for a new region rather than a different power supply or transformer.
  10. If you select anything other than Multi, XLR, or 1/4" outs for the output block, you won't hear the tone from the Helix paths through the XLR outs, 1/4" outs or headphones.
  11. I suggest you take a look at this announcement on top of the forums - http://line6.com/support/forum-86/announcement-78-why-is-line-6-not-responding/ Like I said, these aren't support forums. If there are issues that seem to be systemic bugs or problems, Line 6 generally does know about them, yes, but for other issues that seem more isolated, it is much more helpful to them is users open a support ticket. That, ultimately, will probably be more helpful to the user as well because it is an avenue for them to collect useful data about your setup, and help them diagnose things. To put it bluntly, not every problem a user encounters is the result of a bug that requires a firmware update. The DT intergration, Workbench support, and VDI issues (although, I'm not sure what this one is referring to exactly), are not really bugs or support issues. Those are features that have yet to be added, so, no there's nothing customer support will be able to do in those. Line 6 is well aware of those things, and do plan on addressing them eventually, I believe, although, how high a priority they are, I don't know. Backwards compatibility is always a challenge for a business. Of course they want to keep repeat customers happy, but they also have a lot pressure to push development into other areas to attract completely new customers. It just comes down to prioritizing limited resources. Line 6 is not a huge company, and Yamaha is really not involved at all in the day to day operations and decision making. It's not like Line 6 can call up Yamaha's head office and say, "we need 50 more programmers!".
  12. Have you opened up a support ticket with Line 6 Customer Service? These forums are not customer support forums, so simply mentioning issues here will not necessarily bring them to the attention of Line 6. I'm not sure how you can say nothing has been fixed in Helix in a year when there have been continuous firmware updates since the Helix was released. Again if you're having a specific problem, the best way to have it dealt with is contacting Line 6 CS directly.
  13. I doubt the sound guy knows anything about the Helix... Many sound guys haven't learned something new since 1978.
  14. Haha... the grumpy sound guy meme in real life!
  15. Seems like pretty dumb reasoning to me... What's he do with keyboards and acoustic guitars? I don't see how going direct with electric is any different than that. Maybe he'd feel better if you went into a direct box instead of using the Helix's XLR outs. I would ask if that would be a possible compromise.
  16. I haven't tried it, but I don't think the XLR out on the G10 is necessarily line level. I think that it is the same level as whatever the signal it's receiving from the transmitter is.
  17. Well, those levels can be changed on the HD500 (or in HD500 Edit) itself, too. So it's at least a possibility that they somehow got moved. Other than that, I couldn't say.
  18. One possibility is that those patches have accidentally been saved with the Variax Volume knob position at zero, and the Varaix Control setting on Page 7 of the Setup menu is set to "Preset". So in that case, when you load those presets, the Variax model is being called up, but the volume is going to zero.
  19. I don't think your link is right. When I click on it, it takes me to my personal Youtube "Videos" page.
  20. Yeah, I've been using snapshots for almost a year now (I had an early pre-beta build of them), and I don't think I could go back. I haven't had any issues with 2.11 either.
  21. I'm sure it's doable from a technical perspective... The Helix essentially does everything you're asking for already - it can call up Variax models and change tuning via incoming MIDI messages, and it can convert the movement of the tone and volume knobs to MIDI CCs. So, yeah, pulling that specific functionality out into a separate box seems possible. I just don't know how financially viable something like this is. I mean, I actually like the idea. I just think that once you start talking about relatively advanced MIDI control, the field of potential buyers becomes pretty small. But as Silverhead mentioned, it would be worth putting up on IdeaScale.
