Well, it's not a polyphonic effect. None of the Line 6 pitch effects are at the current time. Some people have had some success with them for tuning down a 1/2 step, but that's kind of it. You get artifacts and tracking weirdness with larger intervals and chords.

These aren't customer support forums. They're user forums. If you want a response from Line 6 customer service, you need to go through one of the channels they use - opening a support ticket or calling them. It seems you got your issue sorted, though, so I suppose it's a moot point now.

Press the menu button and press knob 6 to go to the Global Settings menu. Move over to the Footswitches icon, and under Knob 2, you'll see all the different options for Preset Mode. To match what you're doing on the 500X, you'd select Stomp/Preset. That will give you four presets on the bottom row and four stomp switches on the top row.

The warranty is transferable. You'll have to provide him a copy of your original purchase receipt, though. From here: http://line6.com/warranty/

Wow! How old is your computer? Yeah, you'll need USB 2.0.

Does this happen on the unit itself as well as with the editor? Have you tried just doing it on the unit while not connected to the editor?

Third party IRs use more DSP than the built-in cabs, especially if you're using the 2048 sample versions. Some amp models use more DSP than others. My suspicion is that the IRs and the amps are just using a lot of resources.

The warranty on the G10 is 1 year, not 90 days (I actually double-checked the info that came in my G10's box and here), so you should definitely contact Line 6 customer service. You can either open up a support ticket here: http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html or call them at 1 (818) 575-3600.

I've done several tunes with the Helix on-board effects. Typically, the only post-effects I'll put on electric guitars is EQ. Sometimes, depending on the density of the mix, I'll set a sort of "Brauerizer" thing in Reaper where I create separate busses for guitars, bass and drums, and vocal, and apply compression to the whole buss. So I typically don't apply compresison to just a single guitar track. But as far as delay, reverb, and everything else, yeah, I typically use the Helix effects.

Sounds like you were monitoring through your computer rather than the Helix itself. If you monitor through the Helix, there should be no latency compared to just playing through the Helix itself.
-
And given the fact there are thousands and thousands of third party IR files out there, no one agrees what that should sound like either... :)

Why would you put it on Craigslist rather than just return it where you got it? Also, have you tried making your own presets or altering the presets in any way? Or are you just using the factory presets and presets you've downloaded? Judging a piece of modeling equipment by the presets only is kind of like trying on other people's clothes and telling them their wardrobes sucks because none of it fits you.

I believe that the default EXP Position setting for EXP1, 2 and 3 is "per preset", so it is possible that this preset was saved with the expression pedal in the heel position (it's actually quite easy to do accidentally). So with the "per preset" or "per snapshot" setting, when you go to a preset, the actual position of the pedal is ignored, and the parameters go to whatever value they were at when the preset (or snapshot) was saved.

I have the Fishman Ultra-Tone pickup system in two Breedlove guitars, which is a very similar system to the Matrix (I actually think it might just be rebnamed for Breedlove), and my G10 works fine with it. So I don't know what that's worth to you, but I just thought I'd throw it out there. I think the one reason the LR Baggs systems has issues is that it's designed with a TRS jack so it can receive phantom power for the preamp. I don't believe Fishman does that with any of their preamps.

Hmm... I have to believe this is some sort of weird hardware issue, but I guess it would be worth trying to re-install the latest firmware.

I believe a patch will be coming shortly, so hold tight. One way to workaround it permanently, and I realize it simply may not be acceptable to some people, is to use an external expression pedal for EXP2. If you have a pedal available to you, that would be my suggestion until that patch arrives.

The on-board pedal isn't potentiometer-based. It's optical. I also have never experienced this particular issue, and I have a volume pedal block in nearly every one of my patches - two in some of them, actually.

Is Helix physically capable of sending MIDI clock?
phil_m replied to seattleguitarist's topic in Helix
I was only responding to the title of the post, which is a yes or no question. :D It would just be a firmware update. BTW, MIDI clock was added by firmware update in other Line 6 products - the M13 and the HD500 for sure. Possibly the X3 Live, although, I don't remember for sure about that one. -
The Helix can't do either (slave or master) at the moment. I suspect it's only a matter of time before it's added.

Well, I don't agree that it's a design flaw... I'd say it's a design limitation they chose to live with, knowing that for the vast majority of electric guitars, it wouldn't be an issue. The whole issue that they design the transmitter so that it could be charged via the TRS plug in the base, and for certain active electronics, that causes certain issues. I have actually seen posts by people on Facebook and here, I think, where users have said Line 6 has sent them an adapter for free when they've contacted them. I guess many people don't bother to contact them simply because they either have an adapter laying around, or they just figure it's easier to pick one up for a few bucks. As far as the whole getting your money back thing, I'm not really sure why that's even an issue. Nearly ever retailer who sells Line 6 products, even in the US, offers a return policy. I would imagine that it's the same in the UK. Also, not it matters, I'm sure you don't have more Line 6 gear than I have... I'm pretty much a Line 6 gear hoarder. :D It's just that the majority of it is registered to an alternate account. I've been here for so long that the account I had for the forums and my user account were different. I probably should transfer them all to one, just no real pressure to do it, I guess. So, yeah, the "registered gear" thing there on left hand side isn't correct.
-
Line 6 has been very open and transparent about saying that there may be compatibility issues with certain guitars. Not sure how anyone could say they were misrepresenting anything. It's not realistic to expect them to test the G10 with every guitar, pickup, and electronics configuration it may encounter in the world.
-
Definitely. This is exactly the kind of scenario snapshots were designed for.

Yes.
