  1. Glad you got it sorted... This may be a stupid question, but I thought the whole point of the Aviom systems, at least the ones I've used, was that everyone could have their own individual mix. I guess I don't get why you can't just turn up yourself through the Aviom? Or is it just you don't have that granular level of control?
  2. It's just a temporary promotion. There are no plans to discontinue it anytime soon as far as I know. They have quite a few promos going on right now because of their 20th anniversary: http://line6.com/promos/
  3. I'm not exactly sure how the tap tempo handles more than two taps. I know on some Line 6 products, if you tapped three times, the tempo would be set to whatever the average was of the gaps. I haven't really looked into it all that much.
  4. Some of the delay models (both the Bucket Brigade models, I believe) have a maximum delay time that matches the originals they were modeled after. So if you tap in a tempo that's longer than the max, it gives a tempo that will be a subdivision of the tempo you tapped but within the max delay time of the model. Ben Adrian talks about it here: http://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/line6-helix.1586637/page-594#post-20724188
  5. Sounds like you're running an old version of the editor.
  6. The workaround here should fix it for now: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects-controllers/helix/pre-210-snapshot-presets-can-eliminate-exp-2-f-r844 You need to do this process for every snapshot. If you have the snapshot edit parameter in the Global Settings menu set to recall, you don't have to re-save after every snapshot, just after doing it for each snapshot in the preset.
  7. I guess my advice would be to import all the presets you need, and then once you do that, power cycle. If any of them actually need rebuilt, the Helix should do it automatically when it boots up again.
  8. You have the Lock Variax Controls setting under Knob 5 in the input block set to "locked"?
  9. Well, you shouldn't have lost snapshots or MIDI commands. I have presets with both, and they all made it through the update fine. I've actually re-imported my presets half a dozen or so times since I was involved in beta testing, and I've never had an issue like this. Are you sure you imported the correct file and not an earlier version?
  10. That's probably to be expected. How long of a lag are you talking about, though?
  11. I don't think Line 6 actually licensed the Variax technology to this company. I think they were taking the Variax guts and putting them in a box. They probably got them from Variax 300s. The only truly licensed Variax products I know of are the old Parker Adrian Belew model and the Shuriken guitars. I imagine the number of both of those sold is probably only measured in dozens.
  12. Not opposed to the idea, but I'm rather skeptical that Line 6 would do something like this. I think, on a whole, these kind of hardware upgrades have become more and more rare in the MI world; and it's for a number of reasons. I think, for one, things aren't designed so that the end user can open them up and plunk in a new board or whatever, so once you get to that point, it means that users would have to take their equipment to a service center to have the work done. Let's face it, most users aren't going to want to bother with that hassle. So even if it's technically possible, there's probably not that much financial incentive to do it. It's the same reason why Apple doesn't offer hardware upgrades on nearly anything they sell. If people are willing to "upgrade" by buying a whole new device, why bother selling them parts and pieces to upgrade.
  13. If you set the trails parameter in the effects loops block(s) to off, the returns will be muted when you bypass the block. If you leave the trails on, the returns remain active.
  14. You have to do the process for every snapshot in the preset. If you do it to one and go back to that without doing the others, it won't stick.
  15. I'm not sure I understand what you're asking for here. Are you saying you want to be able to use a pair of returns as an input on a path but not have it go out to the 1/4" or XLR outs? You can actually do that right now as long as you have one of the 4 available paths open... But perhaps I'm misunderstanding what you're asking for.
  16. Did you install the latest version of the editor?
  17. Straight from the horse's mouth (Ben being said horse :) )
  18. Are you seeing the position parameter on the wah changing when this happens?
  19. I think you're confusing things. There are really two basic modes for the Helix out of the gate - Stomp and Preset - and you can toggle between them by using the Mode switch. In Preset Mode, you have a bunch of choices to what's displayed by using the Preset Mode Switches setting under Global Settings > Footswitches > Knob 2. But 8 Stomps isn't one of the choices there (it would be redundant since having 8 stomps in Preset Mode would kind of defeat the purpose of having Preset Mode). In Stomp Mode, you do have the choice of using 8 or 10 stomp switches, and that's another setting under Global Settings > Footswitches > Knob 3. I said there are two basic modes, but there is also Snapshot Mode, and to get into that you have to hit the bank up and down switches simultaneously. So it's a little hard to get into it accidentally, but you may have, I suppose. If you have the Preset Mode Switches setting set to anything other than "8 Snapshots", and you're seeing 8 snapshots, you're actually in Snapshot Mode. To get out of it, hit the bank up and down switches simultaneously (just tap them once, don't hold them down).
  20. I too would recommend opening up a support ticket. Sounds like this could be more an issue with a conflict or something with your particular system than a Helix issue. Over the last few days, I've actually left my Helix powered up connected to my computer almost non-stop with the editor open, and I've not had it drop the connection once, even when I've left it connected overnight.
  21. Global Settings > Displays > Knob 2 (Tap Tempo LED).
  22. Did you see the section in the manual about the Command Center (pages 45-47)? That explains how to use the types of commands you're talking about. There's also an explanation of how the Command Center works with snapshots on page 37. I guess beyond that, it would be hard to write a comprehensive MIDI manual that can go into example rigs and all that. MIDI is such a broad subject, and it really requires people to have a basic understanding of the concepts. Every MIDI-based rig is kind of an ad-hoc solution using the basic building blocks of the protocol.
  23. I recorded these clips last night using the Archon Clean and Lead models. I really like both these models. I'm not a djent guy, so please forgive my lack a djent skills on the lead clip. I did throw a Timmy in front of the lead channel just to give it a little more focus. The guitar used for both these clips is a Gibson Les Paul Standard. https://soundcloud.com/phil-miller-20/helix-archon-clean-test https://soundcloud.com/phil-miller-20/helix-archon-lead-test
