That's just my feeble attempt at humour, and the reason for my comment about a coal fired computer from circa 2000. Obviously, the HX Stomp wasn't released until early October 2018 and the first Firmware update to v.2.70 arrived a few days later with a bunch of new features and bug fixes. The OP says he is on v2.65 straight out of the box. The Compatible Operating Systems listed at that time was: Mac OS X, Windows 7, Windows 8, Mac OS Mavericks, Mac OS Yosemite, Windows 10, Mac OS El Capitan, macOS Sierra, macOS High Sierra, macOS Mojave.

“More reverbs coming…” , but no date given (as usual) so therefore my guess is “soon”, which is DI’s usual response. Many years back, I used visit a drinking den, where on the large mirror behind the bar was written the legend - “Free Beer Tomorrow!” Everyone knows that yesterday’s tomorrow is simply today. Tomorrow never happens.

Uh? Looking at the options on the Line 6 download page, the supported OS on Apple Mac goes way back to System 9 which was in regular use from 1999 up until 2001. Likewise, the earliest Windows PC system is the Millennium Edition first used in 2000. If you your have something older than those it must be coal powered. Having access to a computer is quite an important part of using any digital modelling unit, not only for the librarian option, most essentially firmware updates and bug fixes. You really are missing out. Maybe you have a relative, or associate, that can help you out with the firmware updates at the very least. Ah, well, each to their own. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, My guess this is something in the audio configuration on the Mac that is causing the problem. I’m not a Big Sur user, and I’m trying to avoid it as long as possible, due to how many issues I have seen reported by other users. As I stated earlier, my Mac is hooked up on USB to my Helix and monitors, and used daily for many years with no problems such as the one you have encountered. It allows me to record, and re-amp, using any of several DAWs available on the Mac (Logic Pro mainly), iTunes (for backing tracks), plus the audio from YouTube videos etc. All flawless, not a glitch. O.K. If the signal from your Mac Mini is too hot, and overpowering your guitar, you can use the Trim function on USB 1& 2 (unprocessed audio from the Mac) to lower it so that you have a better balance between the backing track and the Helix via the Helix phones socket. See my previous post with the link to the relevant section of the manual. The Helix should be a plug and play unit with the Mac (USB Class Compliant), but the additional Line 6 driver allows you to use the the full range of sample rates up to 96kHz. You can use it right out of the box - albeit on the sample rate of 48kHz. You can add the Focusrite, which will add another round of AD/DA to the signal, but - hey! I ditched my Focusrite interface when I fell into the trap of buying a Mac that no longer supported FireWire, and Thunderbolt is just another ridiculous expense. The Helix has worked just fine on USB, although I do have a cheapo, cheapo Behringer UMC204HD box as a fail safe backup. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: I’m not sure if this is relevant, as I don’t use BS, but it appears to me that the sound volume control is changed and now seems to be hidden in a new drop down menu item.

Hi again, I think you are misunderstanding the way this works. When Helix Audio is selected, the Helix floor become your audio interface for both in and out, rather than the Mac Mini. Using the Audio/MIDI Setup app on the Mac should allow you to choose the Helix as the audio input and the speakers connected to your Mac as the audio output. What you are describing seems to be more of a problem with the Mac software and speaker configuration, than the Helix. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: This may help.

Hi, As noted by “phil_ml” in the post above, there is only one split available, but more importantly- why are you unable to update the firmware on your unit? You really should take advantage of the software.

Hi, I have always been able to easily select my Helix as the audio interface for my Mac. Playback of audio, including the volume, from iTunes, YouTube, etc., is usually very simply managed with the built in iMac volume control. From the menu bar select Helix as the sound output device rather than the built in speakers. I have used this setting everyday, from first linking up my Helix floor way back in 2015, using an iMac Retina 5k 27” on High Sierra. Powered 8 inch Tannoy Reveal monitors on XLR connection on Helix. If you need to control the playback volume even more, then use the USB Input Trim from under the Global Settings > Ins/Outs. Check the Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual - Rev F - English Page 63 https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f041b611d61cac763b/application/pdf/Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev F - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.

Yes, that is good for the basic seagull screams, but it doesn't produce that "mad laughing" effect which is available using the real hardware pedal when wired incorrectly. Possibly adding a Legacy Pitch Vibrato and controlling the speed using an expression pedal might help to create the additional warble. May be worth a little experimentation.

Hi, This was discussed way back (2016) and it’s just one of those freaky things that can happen with old analogue gear. It seems to still be possible by using a real wah into the Helix front end - not the loops. Depends on how much, and how often, you really want to use the effect but here ya go. See this: Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, I have not used Reason for many years, but I would first suggest the you check the connections on the rear of the Rack component inside Reason and make sure everything is wired up correctly for the audio in and out of the HX Native plug-in. Just like a real studio it is possible that a virtual patch cable is connected to the wrong socket. Hope this helps/makes sense.

I just did it - I must have gone through a worm hole in the time space continuum. In my post, above, it seems that I made replies, and quoted sections of his post before it arrived here on the forum. It’s a kind of magic!

Hi, This has previously happened to other users, even way back in 2017 it started to be reported in this thread (below), but for some unknown reason nobody ever came back to report a solution. The best recourse for you is to raise a Customer Support ticket and when you discover the cause, post the solution here and mark the thread “SOLVED!” Link: https://line6.com/support/topic/26614-helix-no-boot-w-28-problem/ Hope this helps/makes sense.

If you are using a Mac there might have been an alias of the old version of HX Edit lurking on your computer and even if you though you had updated you may have been inadvertently loading an old copy. It's not unknown for this to happen. Well, same here - it not really an excuse, I'm almost 70 and I can mange to deal with this stuff. This a quote from an earlier set of release notes that were published by Digital Igloo (Eric Klein - Line 6 Chief Product Design Architect) "IMPORTANT! Carefully read and follow the update instructions below. If you don't—and then run to the forums asking why it's not working—the interwebs will make fun of you." Yes, he did use big red shouty lettering to get the point across. Hope the hasn't upset you even more!

At last a picture, which is worth a thousand words in anyone's language. The LED ring will only show when a block is assigned to a footswitch - for example the Acoustic Sim block on FS1, or Minotaur on FS3 in your picture. The LED is bright when selected and dim when bypassed. Both your Wah blocks and the Pitch block expect to be controlled by an external Expression device, or even 2 pedals EXP1 and EXP2. As you do not have an external pedal connected they do not appear in the scribble strips. If you assign the wah and pitch blocks to footswitches, then they will become available to use on FS2, 4 and 6. Note: I only have a Helix Floor and HX Native, but that's the way it works for me. See the example screenshot attached. Hope this helps/makes sense.

I think you have done all that is humanly possible to assist this guy and human error could well be part of the problem. Looking at his “clear” description of the issue that he made to Customer Support, it seems he updated the firmware on the HXFX and cannot see all the blocks when using HX Edit? My guess is the update got screwed, even though he says he has done the factory reset routine. I would dread trying to take him through a full re-install using the “offline” Line 6 Updater Utility- that might end up with a whole new can of worms. Your original suggestion to try each piece of the puzzle one at a time, seems to have gone unheeded. If he tests the HXFX on it’s own, then he should be able to determine if it is a dud or a firmware malfunction. As previously stated - you have gone way beyond what could be expected in order to assist with this, and as it appears that the OP has had “a sense of humour bypass operation” any levity just goes astray. Regards.

Created with translator. English: “I do not know how young you are, but when you're older than 40, 45, then this is not more normal (youth is clearly ended).” Really? Well, young man - try over 60 an nearer 70, and far more technologically aware than you seem to present yourself in this thread. I have been using MIDI since the early days back in the 80’s. I had a Roland JX3P - the first MIDI keyboard. Why do you fail to comprehend the most simple concepts? It seems that you have made the jump into the digital age with no idea of how it all works. So far, “rd2rk” has spent many futile hours trying to assist your mad concepts, that you fail to comprehend, and now you choose to insult him and other forum users? It it really so complex? If so, find a 12 year old kid (kindergarten brother) who understands this tech and have them explain it to you. You really do have a bad attitude brother, and it needs readjustment. Hope this helps - makes sense.

Did you read this? ”For the love of God, don’t post another thread about it or ask it again!” Hope this helps/makes sense.

Yep! So why are you here? Just to release a rat in the bathroom? If so, it worked a treat, and everyone is entitled to an opinion, you’ve posted yours now - move along, it’s not working here! Considering how long it took to get the original Helix into a real world, as a fully functioning piece of hardware, please do hold your breath until HX 2 hits the streets. Should be fun watching you turning blue - please post pics of that for our amusement. Hope this helps makes sense - probably not or you wouldn’t be here now.

I guessed this was a futile task a while back, and I think “phil_m” is correct when he says “That’s too many wahs… ” I started to lose the will to live after reading through this madness. I mean how many feet does the OP have to control this behemoth. I guess we are missing something in translation, but what I cannot comprehend is is why he needs a Helix Floor, an LT and a HXFX to recreate the sound of 3 Marshall Plexi models plus a wah and a volume control. Surely this might be possible with a HX Floor depending on DSP, why is he using the HXFX in this chain - it doesn’t have any amp models! May be brother “AMountain” could clarify exactly what he needs via Google Translate. As I said in the earlier post - above and beyond the call of duty - and yes - you are a glutton for punishment! From what I can decipher from this madness is , bro “AMountain” has no concept of handing digital tech. ;-)

Hi, Yes it does. As noted by “PerS” in the post above - Page 28 in Hx Edit Pilot's Guide. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f137e660b4f6a285cb7/application/pdf/HX Edit 3.11 Pilot's Guide - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.

Steve Stevens delay cpu sound type control trick
datacommando replied to themetallikid's topic in Helix
Hi, Check the video I posted in this thread - it explains how he did the original studio Rebel Yell “ray gun”effect with a Lexicon PCM 41 delay. Oh, yeah. In another vid he runs though his effects board, which is not that complex, in fact he doesn’t use a Whammy with a treadle, but uses the Digitech Ricochet pedal with a footswitch. Here ya go. Another rig run through with Pete Thorn. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Simple solution - turn it to transparent and never suffer the “glitchy noise” again. Personally, there are times that I like to use that as a random effect. I still have old rack mounted delays that can do that stuff too. Strangely enough, there has been a recent post on here where someone was asking about an effect used by Steve Stevens. When looking into his tone it seems that before he used the “toy ray gun” crazy effect, he had devised a similar result in the studio by using a Lexicon PCM 41 delay and manually sweeping through the modulation on a very short delay that he could trigger on a foot switch. He explains it in the video here: One man’s glitch is another man’s fun effect. I’m with “codamedia” and “PierM” on this one. Each to their own. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi Roberto, You don’t say which HX product you have, but the solution is the same for all when changing from one delay time to a different one in another snapshot. Global Settings -> Preferences -> Tap Tempo Pitch: set the option to “Transparent” Quote from manual: “Determines how delay repeats behave when repeatedly pressing TAP. “Accurate” respects the natural pitch fluctuations inherent when changing a real delay pedal’s time knob; “Transparent” minimizes these artifacts.” Hope this helps/makes sense.
