Yep, see - Helix Native Pilots Guide - Rev O - English - Page 19. (Click on the Question Mark icon in the lower left corner of the HX Native window). Hardware Blocks (Send, Return, FX Loop & Looper) When Importing a Helix/HX Hardware-exported Preset into Helix Native - These hardware block types are only functional within Helix/HX devices and, therefore, their parameters are not editable. These blocks have no routing functionality within Helix Native. Hope this helps/makes sense.

The modelling may well be near perfect, but the majority of users are still feeding a signal from a magnetic pickup fastened to a plank of wood with vibrating metal wires under tension. What would it take to reproduce that?

I bought mine in late October 2015 and it's used almost daily, and it does the job that I want it to do perfectly well - helped out by Helix Native it's excellent. The big bonus is Line 6 have given me free goodies to enhance it on a reasonably frequent basis. For that I'm truly grateful, because when I bought it I only expected that any firmware updates would be bug fixes and possibly a software editing utility. I cannot comprehend this constant clamouring for exotic amps and boutique effects to be added, on a whim, just because someone happened to have bought into the Helix product range. This whole idea of "entitlement" and "me, me, me, I want it now" thing is beyond me. I have a big black box of digital trickery that looks like some alien civilisation created it, or it fell from the flight deck of the Starship Enterprise, and it replaced a whole rack of outboard gear that I used previously. I still find things I can do with it that I didn't expect when I first acquired it, so if, and when Line 6 release a new version of the firmware it makes me very happy. The thing is - no matter what Line 6 add there will always be someone wanting to gripe that their favourite bit of kit was not included. Uh? I don't get it. If they need more time and functions in a looper, simply buy a dedicated external looper designed to do exactly that. The really big downside of firmware updates is you can almost guarantee a plethora of posts from people wailing "update bricked my Helix". AAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!

About the same time as firmware v.10.00 ;-)

Ok - here we go - over on TGP it was noted that the expected new firmware was in Beta on 15th Dec 2021 - then on Jan 6th 2022 this was posted by Digital Igloo. “Beta takes about a month, but it's not like we were all working nonstop through the holiday, so it's more like a month plus holiday time. The bug list is getting shorter every day, not longer, so that's a good thing. Beta team has been good about providing feedback on models and we're still tweaking some stuff.” Hope this helps/makes sense. Oh yeah - the general consensus about a next generation Helix… don’t hold your breath there is far too much already invested in what you already have - IIRC Helix was in development for 10 years.

Hi, Nope! You’re not missing the trick, you can use your hardware Helix to capture both the processed and dry signals into your DAW of choice. The whole point of HX Native is to avoid having to reset your Helix Floor to listen to a new USB channel to round trip your audio signal. I have both Helix Floor and HX Native and use them almost daily. I can record a processed guitar signal with full effects processing in glorious stereo. Great, but if I then play back the track and for some reason I’m not quite happy with the amp tone, or there is a little too much reverb overall or the overdrive is not as expected, it’s quite easy to then run the direct injected dry mono signal through Native and fine tune any, or all parts that are not just how I need them. Even when using the Helix unit as an audio interface. No re- patching involved. Imagine that you have recorded a track and return to it a couple of months later and you realise that the original delay times are not quite right. Oh, dear, you left your Helix in the rehearsal room, it’s late at night and snowing. Load up Native and re-amp the dry signal and, modify the delay as needed - problem solved. All the preset that you have in your hardware can be loaded into Native and modified for every eventuality. Simple Hope this helps/makes sense.

I just tried and it worked perfectly. iMac 27" Retina 5K 32GB using Catalina and Safari 15.2 I would suggest that you use Safari for the download, because I know that works. Some folks have had issues with Firefox where it opens the wrong version, or you may have an alias on your Mac which is pointing back to a the latest driver which AFAIK will have been downloaded as part of the HX Edit v.3.11 updater package. Hope this help/makes sense

Hi, Not inside the Helix - no! As noted by “silverhead” in the post above, that is not what the onboard looper is designed for. If you need a looper capable of retaining your loops then a dedicated unit is the way to go. I have 3 external looper units that I can use for various jobs. A TC Electronic Ditto x4 that can transfer loops or entire backing tracks over USB, also a BOSS RC-30 capable of storing up to 3 hours direct to internal memory and the ability to import/export .wav files over USB, plus a real cheapo Ammoon Stereo unit that can store 10 independent loops of 10 minutes. There are some truly spectacular dedicated loopers available from many different manufacturers. You choose. Hope this helps/makes sense.

HX Edit "no device connected" problem. Help please.
datacommando replied to josegermain's topic in Helix
Hi, There are know problems associated with certain USB cables. All USB Cables are not created equal - and just because it works with a printer is no guarantee that it will work as you expect with your Helix LT or other audio hardware. Somewhere in, and amongst, all the hundreds of posts in this forum someone gave a really good description of the reasons why some cables are quite simply not good enough. Something along the lines of being able to handle data streams in one direction, but not great at handling audio at the same time. I looked for it, but couldn’t find it again - such is life. Also, HX Exit doesn’t seem to like anything else using the USB ports at the same time, so it’s advisable not to have other stuff running in the background at the same time as HX Edit is handshaking the hardware. Anyhow, in a similar vein, another recent post mentions the reasons that using a USB hub to communicate with Helix hardware is not a good idea. Read about that particular issue here - see the post from “spaceatl”. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Oh, here we go again - let’s put this puppy to bed! This is a link to a very old post (2016), over on TGP from Digital Igloo (Eric Klein - Chief Product Design Architect | Yamaha Guitar Group | Line 6 | Ampeg) https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/line6-helix.1586637/page-1184#post-22007938 Here’s a copy - short cut! The important bit is this: “Helix's headphone amp is LOUD; it's designed to drive high-impedance studio headphones to stage volumes. Low impedance headphones distort way faster, fatigue your ears, and at a high enough volume, can damage your hearing.” Those ATs are 38 Ω? That could explain it. Low impedance headphones are designed to provide ample volume when listening to devices with relatively wimpy headphone amps, like mobile phones and iPods. Another user elsewhere expressed concern with his Beyer DT990s (which come in three variants—32 Ω, 250 Ω, and 600 Ω) and I'm willing to bet his are 32 Ω. I'm actually surprised your Sonys sound any better, as they're even lower, at 24 Ω. Helix's headphone amp is LOUD; it's designed to drive high-impedance studio headphones to stage volumes. Low impedance headphones distort way faster, fatigue your ears, and at a high enough volume, can damage your hearing. With Helix you could conceivably split the headphone output to two pairs of 200-300 Ω cans/IEMs and drive both over the sound of a drummer (and adjust respective levels via MIDI CC control of path output blocks). My band does this now. Personally, I use Sennheiser HD600s (300 Ω), and before those, the HD580s (same). Also have a bunch of Sony 7506s around, but they're 63 Ω and harsh-sounding already, even with an iPod. I also keep a pair of Sennheiser HD280 Pros (64 Ω) at work and they're pretty boxy sounding, but if I can get a mix to sound good on them, it'll sound good anywhere. I treat them like wearable Yamaha NS10s, if those NS10s were powered by an Alesis RA100 instead of a Bryston. Wouldn't want to construct tones with them. Eric Klein, Chief Product Design Architect, Yamaha Guitar Group / Line 6 / Ampeg Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, O.K. By default the on board (bent) EXP pedal is set to EXP 1 Volume, and when switched to EXP 2 Wah. To bypass these default settings when you connect an external EXP pedal you need to use the Controller Assign functions. See the Helix LT 3.0 Owner’s Manual - Rev D - English Pages 55 - 57 Controller Assign https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f18374611d5dffd3a45/application/pdf/Helix LT 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev D - English .pdf#page55 Or - HX Edit Pilot’s Guide - Rev S (v3.11) Page 39 - The Bypass/Controller Assign Tab. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f137e660b4f6a285cb7/application/pdf/HX Edit 3.11 Pilot's Guide - English .pdf Even easier, click on the question mark in the lower left window of the HX Edit interface and select "Pilot's Guide" - it's built in. Hope this help/makes sense. You could always try to fix the bend in the onboard pedal.

Use bass line played in DAW to adjust the tone on HX Stomp XL
datacommando replied to andre_ginho's topic in Helix
Hi, If I understand correctly, what you are asking is how to re-amp a bass guitar using the HX Stomp XL? The technique is mentioned in the Owner’s Manual on pages 62-63. Here’s a link to a video showing how this is done using a HX Stomp and Ableton Live. Plus - this one by Jason Sadites using Reaper - the methods are basically the same for any HX hardware or DAW. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Well we all start somewhere and progress from there - here’s two or three that I had almost forgotten about that you can disassemble and chop around for fun. https://line6.com/customtone/tone/2063187/ https://line6.com/customtone/tone/1690584/ https://line6.com/customtone/tone/2477696/ You should read the notes on each preset Have fun.

It all seems very quiet in here - maybe everyone is off somewhere polishing their shoes. Anyhow, if you had cast your gaze over on CustomTone and put “shoegaze” in the Search option it would have returned this result. https://line6.com/customtone/search/?submitted=1&family=helix&search_term=Shoegaze It’s somewhere to start Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: maybe you already did go to CustomTone as it seems you have uploaded there just today - strange - it’s jazz ambient, doom metal and rock, not shoegaze?

What case is that shown on this HX Stomp XL video?
datacommando replied to Digiplay's topic in Helix
Judging from the fact it has handles - my guess would be a Samba Pedalboard, or maybe a West Coast. They ain’t cheap, and you might be very lucky to find one for sale, but here’s the websites: https://sambapedalboards.com/product/17-x-13-pedalboard-sp-131/ https://westcoastpedalboard.com/product/west-coast-hard-wood-pedalboard/ or, https://ruach-music.com/product-category/pedalboards/ The Rauch pedalboards shown in the post above from “PierM” are a little less expensive, but if you search Google with “polished wood fx pedalboard” you can find other similar items on Etsy, or check out the DIY options in the many YouTube videos. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: At second glance, I noticed the switch and power light - most likely it’s a West Coast in Walnut. -
Helix Native compatibility issue with M1 Mac?
datacommando replied to vadar1's topic in Helix Native
Hi, If you have tried all the suggested solutions provided here without any success, then the best thing to do is open a ticket with Customer Support. This a user group and is very rarely visited by Line 6 staff, therefore there is little, or no chance of your issue been seen by anyone who can implement any changes. Furthermore, as you say - the M1 units have been available for a year now. Have you considered raising this issue with Apple? After all, Helix Native seems to have been perfectly functional on the Mac platform, before Apple decide to change everything (and upset the Apple cart, as it were). I have no issues at all with Native running on Catalina. I do realise that you may have had no option other than to buy a new Mac M1, but they (Apple) made the changes that seriously affected all in the music industry who were using their platform, and lots of people got very upset. Mmm… looks like some still are! Hope this helps/makes sense.- 33 replies
