  1. That's very odd. I haven't looked at the "Behaviours" option yet, may be time to check it out. Is it something in your Global Setting - Per Snapshot > Per Preset > Global ? The reason I ask is, while typing this, I just tried on the Helix floor (not HX Edit) and is only worked on that one specific preset, none of the others. Does It happen whatever Wah Model you're using or just one model?
  2. Hi, Is what you are experiencing something possibly related to this. From the release notes Bypass Assign > EXP Pedal 1/2 now has a new Behavior parameter to control how bypassing is handled. The default value "Toggle" behaves as this feature always has - bringing the pedal past threshold will toggle the block's bypass state from what it is currently (i.e. enable if currently bypassed and vice versa). "Toe Down" and "Heel Down" always bypass the block at the designated position, regardless of the block's starting state. So with "Heel Down" selected, the block will always enable when you cross the Position threshold and bypass when you return below it
  3. This could go on longer than Star Wars. Good luck.
  4. I realise that the output block is showing where the signal is being directed and the reason USB is listed in the Multi Output is because that's one of the path options. But, I have my monitors connected to the XLR sockets on the Helix, and if I set the Output block to XLR rather than Multi, then turn the big knob - most surprisingly everything gets louder. That is without ever changing the exclusive Global Settings.
  5. Hi, If you followed the instructions, when starting the update procedure, then you will have made a backup file of all your presets that were previously in the unit. Once you can get your computer to connect over the USB again, simply launch HX Edit and run the Restore from Backup option. That should do it. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  6. Hi, The "big volume knob" controls whatever it is assigned to via the final output block. The default setting is Multi (1/4', XLR, Digital, USB1/2), but you can assign it just to control the 1/4' out if you wish. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  7. Hi, The first thing that springs to mind is: - you set the command to “None”, and then you are surprised that the label does not change from its previous state. Hmm…. Surely, that’s what you have told it to do - exactly nothing? Not sure what you’re expecting, but if you have a command set to “None” then, logically, nothing should change. IF THEN ELSE FOR WHILE?
  8. True, so very true - that gets my vote. I bought my Helix for it’s functions and capabilities - not presets. Roll your own presets.
  9. This came up recently in another thread where a guy said his back up wasn’t recognised and failed to restore. It turned out (by checking his supplied screen grab) that he was trying to load an older file that was saved in a different location. Check the file extension, file name, date and location. Also ensure that you are using the latest version of HX Edit - it’s not unknown for some one to inadvertently open an older version. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  10. Mmm… I wonder how this would work ITRW, with a guy walking into a music store, and asking to check out a specific amp and cab? If the staff then plug his guitar into the rig of his choice in the demo room, and he hits a chord, would he expect it to sound perfect without any modification to the dial settings on the front panel that had been left by the last person to try it out with a totally different guitar? That’s what happens in the real world - therefore, consider that Line 6 have given you that exact same scenario inside a digital modeller. This factory preset thing is trivial nonsense - all presets suck!
  11. Save me some typing - I really have no idea why every time a new version of the Firmware drops, this forum becomes littered with people saying they have a failed update. Have a trawl thought the recent "3.15 Bricked my Helix" posts, and try to follow the instructions given for using the Line 6 Update utility in off-line mode to re-flash your HX FX firmware.
  12. I think you are correct, I cannot see how "just"(pure) intonation would work on a guitar - it's not in keeping with Western styles of music. Also, I cannot comprehend what purpose this is meant to ultimately achieve using what is essentially a guitar amp and multi effect modelling device. Slightly baffled.
  13. Hmm… not sure that how that would work using HX Edit or Helix, but the option to use any tuning you can think of should be feasible using your JTV and Workbench. I use lots of odd tunings on my acoustic, electric and Variax guitars. I also have a tenor guitar, banjo, mandolin and autoharp, for even more unusual tunings (Celtic, Indian, Arabic), but they usually need my Peterson Strobe for accuracy. Hope this helps/makes sense, even though I have no idea why you would want to do this.
  14. Hi, I have no idea what item of the HX family of hardware you’re wanting to know about, but I will guess Helix Floor. If you check the Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual - Rev F - English - page 38 Send/Return, it explains the functions of each option. For example: “Each of the Helix four sends and returns can be used independently or used together as an FX loop.” Also, each path in the Helix is stereo unless you choose to collapse the path to mono by adding a block that only functions as mono. I’m confused by your comment: “I don't like using the separate outs at the very end of the path since that means both paths will show up if I use the preset in Helix native.” If you should choose to use the preset in Helix Native, the Send/Return functions are bypassed and will not work. Helix Native Pilot’s Guide - Rev P (v3.15) - English - Page 19 - Input & Output Settings - plus - Hardware Blocks (Send, Return, FX Loop & Looper). When Importing a Helix/HX Hardware-exported Preset into Helix Native - These hardware block types are only functional within Helix/HX devices and, therefore, their parameters are not editable. These blocks have no routing functionality within Helix Native. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  15. What I find baffling, is that you connected it to both your MacBook, and also your wife’s Mac, but neither detected the presence of the Helix LT. It’s a “Class Compliant” USB device. Let’s try some basic Mac stuff - O.K. Humour me. Connect the LT to your MacBook with a good USB cable (the one that came with your device). Now power up your Mac and the Helix, when you get to the desktop, launch the AUDIO/MIDI SETUP that ships with your Mac. When it loads you should be able to see the Helix LT and then select it to use as an interface for audio IN/OUT. Once you have established that it is possible to get audio in and out of it you should be able to progress to doing serious stuff like firmware updates and preset editing. Until you can get it to perform the basic audio functions via USB, everything else is futile. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  16. Try this! IMPORTANT! In the unlikely event that your update fails, please follow the steps below: Unplug the USB cable from both the back of your Helix and the computer. Turn your Helix/HX device off and on - hold down FS 6&12 to put it into “Safe Boot - Update Mode”. Reconnect the USB cable to your Helix/HX device and the computer. Download, install, and launch the latest version of Line 6 Updater. In a failure state, the device will not connect to HX Edit. Line 6 Updater for macOS: https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=9831 Line 6 Updater for Windows: https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=9832 Select your device and try updating to the latest firmware again, without HX Edit, or anything else open, and running in the background. If the device does not show up in Line 6 Updater after these steps, try a different USB cable and/or USB port. If it still doesn't show up, try a different computer. Hope this helps makes sense
  17. Please Note: Once you have a failed update the hardware will NOT CONNECT to HX Edit. Do not have HX Edit open when trying to access your hardware device when using the Line 6 Updater Utility. In fact the best thing is not to have any other applications running in the background while performing an update. This is from the Updating Helix/HX notes: IMPORTANT! If the device does not show up in Line 6 Updater after these steps, try a different USB cable and/or USB port. If it still doesn't show up, try a different computer. ADDITIONAL INFO: In point 2 where it says: Turn your Helix/HX device off and on. I should add that while powering up your hardware you need to hold down FS 6&12 to put it into “Safe Boot - Update Mode”. and point 5 where it says: Select your device and try updating the firmware again. I should add - (without HX Edit, or anything else open, and running in the background.) Hope this helps/makes sense
  18. Hi, Once you have a failed update the hardware will NOT CONNECT to HX Edit. Do not have HX Edit open when trying to access your hardware device when using the Line 6 Updater Utility. In fact the best thing is not to have any other applications running in the background while performing an update. If you follow the instructions in the post I made earlier - you should be good to go, proving you bear in mind the couple of caveats I added earlier: In point 2 where it says: Turn your Helix/HX device off and on. I should add that while powering up your hardware you need to hold down FS 6&12 to put it into “Safe Boot - Update Mode”. and point 5 where it says: Select your device and try updating the firmware again. 19. You really are don't get it do you? You posted a screen grab of the Helix Floor Global EQ setting, and a comparison image of the signal in a DAW. The point I was making, by posting that quote from 2016, was the simple fact that Global EQ settings from the Helix don't work over USB into a DAW. Jason's video should help you to understand Hi and Lo Cut. Also, you could try what "codamedia" suggested - run a blast of pink noise through it and measure that. That's all there is to it - don't get so excited.
  20. Hi, Follow this link and then follow the instructions that I posted there regarding Installation Notes. It just saved a guy who thought his Helix Rack had become a boat anchor. Give it a try - Good luck. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  21. I have been using a Mac to update the various versions of firmware, run HX Edit and Helix Native right from the start of them being available. Never had an issue communicating with the hardware - I must live on a ley line or be protected from the demons that inhabit the realm of USB. ;-) Enjoy your new firmware update.
  22. Probably not, although you didn’t mention what version of the firmware you had installed previously. I mention this because the installation appears to fail and install again when updating from firmware prior to v2.80. Follow the instructions in the link to the notes below. The section you need is after this text in red. IMPORTANT: In the unlikely event that your update fails, please follow the steps below: PLEASE NOTE: In point 2 where it says: Turn your Helix/HX device off and on. I should add that while powering up your hardware you need to hold down FS 6&12 to put it into “Safe Boot - Update Mode”. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  23. Here we go again - first regarding Global EQ. Here’s a quote from Digital Igloo, way back in 2016. “Global EQ is designed for compensating for the myriad environments in which you might play. As every DAW on the planet has stock EQ plugins that are likely more flexible than Helix's Global EQ, it made little sense to waste precious DSP on something largely unnecessary. Helix's routing dictates that each pair of outputs requires its own Global EQ block - currently we have one for the 1/4" outputs and another for the XLRs, and the Global EQ page controls them both simultaneously. That's how you can pick which one has Global EQ applied. Basically, the more pairs of outputs that monitor Global EQ, the fewer simultaneous blocks you'd be able to run.“ If you want to know more about using a Parametric EQ, then watch this video, from Richie Castellano of Blue Oyster Cult, who will explain it for you. Jason Sadites will explain Hi & Lo Cut for you - watch this. I would usually say “Hope this helps/makes sense”, but as it’s you I won’t bother, because if there is a hard way of doing something - you will probably find it.
  24. Yes, but the release notes explain how these 2 effects function, and they are off by default.
  25. You did do a factory reset after the update, didn’t you? It is a recommended part of the update procedure. When stuff starts to behave in an unexpected way - perform a factory reset. EDIT: PLEASE READ THE RELEASE NOTES - BOTH OF THESE EFFECTS ARE BYPASSED BY DEFAULT Hope this helps/makes sense.
